You are absolutely correct Bill. I had the opportunity to meet a Great Aunt of mine when she was in her winter years and I was a teenager. She was always the eternal optimist. One time I asked how she stayed so upbeat with all of the negativity in the world. Her answer was simple. She said something to the effect that some days were a lot harder than others, but that if she let the negative people bring her down, they won. She went on to say "and I will not let them win." It was one of the few times in those years of my life where my ears were open, I listened and learned a very valuable life lesson.

Your model is outstanding. As far as the stripe on the wheel, I have been doing this for some time. Others have mentioned how its done. Here are are a couple of tips that may help. If the wheel is not white, I will paint it. The thing that helps is to use the knife blade at a real shallow angle and scrape only about 1/8" at a time. If the knife blade is too vertical in relation to the wheel, the blade can bounce across the wheel and cause gouges. The last thing is that dull knife blades in this instance are your friend.

If you still enjoy them Ray, there is no reason to start getting rid of them. Bill made a great point about cataloging them. I suggest placing a value on them as well. Some are obviously worth more than others and this will help your heirs not get taken if they choose to sell the collection. I have a rather small collection of inbuilt kits (compared to some) at about 150. I cannot part with them; although, I know many will never get built.

You have a great project started on a historically significant race car and racer.

Wow Tim, that is gorgeous! Simply stunning. -
Great save. You do a great job with the restorations. I tried my hand at it a couple of times and I just don't seem to have the knack for it.

Great job! Your choice of colors was superb for this car.

It looks really nice. I think you are being a bit hard on yourself, but then we who build a kit know where the flaws are.

Great looking model!

Looks great! I like it a lot.

Great job. The purple body with a white interior looks stunning!

By and large, they either know or have a good idea you are not buying these products for yourself. I have done the grocery shopping in my house for years and bought many feminine products for my wife and daughter. The only comments I ever got were that "my husband / boyfriend would never buy this stuff for me". The gals were largely impressed I would buy these items for my girls.

Ed, you are correct. This will be a very big project. Another consideration is that the teams have perfected the construction of a racing chassis. They will only use metal from the same production lots and they have exacting construction specs and techniques, so that one chassis build is nearly identical to another. If the chassis supplier cannot meet these standards, there will be a revolt among the teams. In the early 2010's the manufacturers had a "come to Jesus" meeting with Brian France and they laid down the law. The manufacturers will only participate in NASCAR if they run the cars they want with their engines. They will work with NASCAR to make sure the competition is fair. But the days of France, Sr. and France Jr, pitting the manufacturers against each other, so the France's could do what they pleased were over.

I really don't want to start a fight over this, but this generation of cars is closest to their stock counterparts that in a long time. Below is a schematic for the Camaro and you will see that the race version differs, but not that significantly from the street car. The race car is the lighter shade of blue. I have seen a similar schematic for the Toyotas but cannot find it.
