Back in the 1990's, I was at an airshow and both the MiG-29 and F-15 had flight demonstrations. On the day I went the F-15 flew first. The Russians working on the MiG stopped what they were doing to watch the F-15. They just shook their heads in amazement. The MiG flew later and it was really cool seeing it fly, but the Russians knew which plane was better and it wasn't theirs.

Taste is subjective, but I don't see the reason for the disdain. It's just another way to trailer a boat.

I read an article several years ago and California regulators were looking forward the interconnected homes and power grid, because when the load on the grid becomes too great, they will be able to turn off appliances in peoples' homes. Then when the load becomes manageable again, they will turn the appliances back on. Of course, the A/C units would be the first to go off and then washers, dryers, etc. I was shocked that they would actually admit to this in public. But it certainly means that public utilities will not be able to build to meet the increased demand for the foreseeable future. When we get to this point, public outcry will likely turn against these zealots, but the future does not look very good.

I remember that race well. The booing was so loud and I think Earnhardt was a little taken aback by it. I think that is when he came up with the line about only trying to rattle his cage. It always looked to me that Earnhardt was trying to do a bump and run, but it went sideways.

If I had to guess, your city elders are proposing a number of tax increases knowing that the tax payers will raise Hades about some of them. The one or ones that get the least amount of resistance will likely get passed. Crummy way of doing things, but politicians know how to play this game well.
