Corvette C7R (Daytona winner)
935k3 replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Looks great. I always lay down Future under tire decals I started using Tamiya' TS-80 Flat Clear airbrushed. It seems to me dullcote rubs of with to much handling. -

Very cool. I did not know about that track. Everybody's usually trying to set records at Nurburgring. -

He maybe waiting for a shipment from Japan. Never worry you will always get what you order. Mark is top notch. -
The 935 looks great. Better than the Tamiya 1/20 th version.

This track may not be important to you but it has become the most important track in the world to auto manufactures including US companies. This record is newer than the one in Road and Track. BTW the track is Nurburgring -

This record still stands to this day " On May 28, 1983, a lucky confluence of events allowed for one of the greatest driving performances we'll ever see. Stefan Bellof, a 25-year-old racer from Germany, drove a Porsche 956 around the Nürburgring Nordschliefe in 6:11.13, a record that stands to this day, and one that doesn't look like it'll ever be topped. " Porsche is taking their retired Porsche 919 LMP1 that has had some of the WEC rule restrictions taken off of it to Nurburgring next month. It just set the lap record at SPA and was1 second faster than Lewis Hamilton's F1 pole time there last year. If it runs there probably break the record. here is video of Bellof's record lap Nurburgring Lap Record -

Regarding my New Compressor
935k3 replied to MikeRousseau's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Did you check AC Moore. I got the Aspire there with a 50% off coupon. I love it. It is the quietest compressor I have had. I have noticed a difference with a tank when running the airbrush wide open for long period. A compressor without a tank is OK but one with a tank is better. -
Tamiya kits can be very tight fitting and cause problems. Especially tail lights and headlights. I usually sand them down a bit. It really is experience that helps.

Removing pre installed glass
935k3 replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for that explanation Bob, I suspected it was a two step process.. I did have this kit once. I did manage to cut the windows out with some tedious and time consuming work with the back side of an Exacto #11. The project stalled because of the boring paint scheme and I could not figure out how to make the headlight buckets. -
That's a shame. I never mask over decals because I just don't expect them to stick. They might stay down if you have enough (allot) clear over them. That is one of the reasons I use Future. I mask and do all trimming before any decals go on. I wipe Future on only where I want it.

This is the new GT3 Corvette that raced yesterday in the Pirelli World Challenge. I like it better then the IMSA version. Model please.

Removing pre installed glass

Thats why I never bought any of Tamiya's Tamtech based kits. The windows are cast with the colored styrene. I would love to know the process to do that. -
What do you recommend for black washes?
935k3 replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya's ne panel line paints flow really well and look nice. They are enamel based and cleanup with mineral spirits. -
Absolutely fantastic model. Well done!
-
Looking good! What green does the instructions call out for the body? TS43 I am guessing

How important are panel lines to you?
935k3 replied to edward smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
May I add when putting decals over panel lines (especially hood and doors) cut them. I have seen a few good models that in the real world would make it hard to open the door. Use a brand new razor or #11 to cut then use a small (10/0) and a strong solvent to put it down in the line.
