  1. Wow! Very cool. Always liked Ray Walston.
  2. Anybody know anything about the "Motorized Thunderbird" or the "Hot Rod's V-8 engine has visable parts"? It would be interesting to see and know more about those two. The "Turn Crank...see it work" sounds interesting too.
  3. I had darts and dart board as a kid. I was 7 or 8 when I got one. Metal points. Not suction cups.
  4. You were able to use the Torino's glass? The rear window worked okay? Other than moving the axle forward a 1/16 of inch, there were no other modifications? No trimming of chassis plate itself? And interior fit okay? Any chance of seeing photos of the chassis?
  5. Matheson, another of my favorite writers. Who's work appeared in Playboy more than once from what I can remember.
  6. There are stories in Playboy? I never noticed.
  7. I know Curt used the custom headlamps from a '50 Ford. But didn't AMT's '57 Fairlane kit offer an optional quad headlamp accessory set up?
  8. I just read the Snow article above. Sad what happened to his daughter. But, I feel there are lots of dangerous things in the world. Both man made and natural. One has to weigh the risks. I don't know how defend my thoughts on this without sounding callus. But again, several things have been banned in the name of safety, that in general use were not bad things. And I think lawn darts are one of those things.
  9. I loved playing with lawn darts. I'm still unhappy that a few stupid people, doing stupid things, got these things banned. As stupid as I was, or in some cases still am, I knew better than to throw lawn dart in the direction or in a way that a person could get hurt or killed. I also was smart enough to stay away from areas where lawn darts might be coming down. It was called common sense. By the way. Why haven't tossing horseshoes been banned. Basically the same idea. I wouldn't want get hit by horseshoe any more than a lawn dart. You can maybe kill somebody a little easier with a lawn dart. But, I'm sure a horseshoe (or a horse) can do some damage if it hits you. Again using common sense, I do not throw horseshoes at people. And I do not where a horseshoe might hit me. (On or off of a horse.) Seems like a simple concept. And you know what? Following those rules, I have never had an accident with either a lawn dart or a horseshoe.
  10. I have not run across that problem with Tamiya.
  11. This one I find bland. Where is the sexy Italian styling I expect in a car like an Alfa?
  12. I don't understand. What is this about?
  13. After watching the two videos above, I now don't just dislike the car. I hate it. In my opinion it's immoral. I will say no more on this subject, other than I will not be viewing anything in this one particular thread again. That does not I disapprove of the posting or viewing the thread. It's just not for me.
  14. Another nice one.
  15. I still don't understand how you do these models. By the way, Ford referred to that body style as 4-door pillared hardtop. Which really makes no sense, since the definition of a hardtop is a solid roof car with no "B" pillar. And all of Ford's pillared hardtops came with a "B" pillar.
  16. Comments good or bad are welcome? I can see nothing bad to comment on. It looks great. Reminds me, I need to build the one I have. About a year ago I bought decals from Keith Marks to do the "A" variation paint scheme.
  17. Very nice grocery getter.
  18. Growing up with only 3 kids in 3 bedroom house, my mother also didn't want much excitement. And we played a lot of calm board games around the house. But, that one looks a little too calm. Even boring. At least for me.
  19. Very cool Curt. I like the quad headlights. A tacky aftermarket item seen on a few cars in the late 50's and beyond.
  20. Wow! Very, very nice.
  21. I like the miniature boxes too. And I don't know why?
  22. Your not sure what year it came out? I see the words '64 Thunderbird hardtop right there. And has to be 1964, since the dies to that kit were updated to the '65 Thunderbird for '65. And a '66 after that. I too, love those little extras AMT use to put into there kits back then. Later MPC did a simular thing with their kits. But, where AMT's extras seemed designed for cars on display at a car show. MPC's extras were more for cars out on the road. I also love that Round 2 like restore these parts to their kits whenever possible. I'm waiting for the '70 Bonneville hardtop to come back with the roof racks and the canoe.
  23. McCahill passed in May of 1975. I feel sorry for car guys who have never been exposed to him. Though you didn't have to be a car guy to enjoy McCahill's writing. Speaking of which. I'm no great outdoorsman. I hate both camping and fishing. I'm also not a big fan of hunting, even though I do enjoying shooting guns once in a blue moon. I don't have any ethical problems with hunting or fishing. I just don't really enjoy them. But, a good writer, like McCahill who can make you enjoy a subject you don't really care about can be a great treat. And one my favorites who writes about things like camping, fishing, and hunting, is Patrick McManus. To me, he is the Tom McCahill of outdoor sports. "Poof, No Eyebrows" is one of the funniest short stories I've ever read. I love his tales of growing up rural Idaho. The strange friends and other characters he claimed to grow up with. Including his dog, named Starnge. A great writer. Doesn't make me want to go out and hunt, fish, or go camping. I know better. But, I sure enjoy his adventures doing those things.
  24. I'm sorry. But that thing is just plain ugly. It looks some of the recently designed Hot Wheels Batmobiles. Which I dislike too. I'm kind of thankful that not many people can afford the car.. That means I'm unlikely to ever see one.
  25. Wow! Does that look like one boring game. ? I remember seeing those sticks as a kid. But, I never remember playing that game with them. Give me a chemistry set! I can cause more excitement with that. ?
