  1. ... except for those who can actually answer your question
  2. Like this one? Great concept Bill. I can see I might need to add a few parts to the order
  3. Boy, do I hear you on this, Bill ... trying here to get steam up again to finish work on a light commercial subject issued during a company's ill-advised and fortunately short-lived flirtation with a Toy and Novelty division
  4. Comment makes absolutely no sense at all... I do recall some dummy (hi!) assuming a certain kit had a dana, but that was because he hadn't checked the box recently and was thinking of older trucks. This topic of dana vs 8.75 is a valid discussion of a wrong part included in a kit by guys who generally know what they're talking about. mike
  5. Here's a little more info...
  6. I want one of these
  7. Don't throw those big old mpc wheels and tires out yet... some racer boys like 'em and here's a pic to show how the box stayed with the same measurements til '92 and an idea of the shortbox fore and aft proportion for those making their own.
  8. Wow! Great work, Bill
  9. The cab and doors are basically the same from '80 - '96. You should be able to use the reissued monogram '80 shortbox cab and graft on the newer fenders or cut down the cab you have.
  10. The one in your pic is a good representative of all the compact/mid-size car sixes and is equally at home in all the '60s/'70s falcon/fairlane/comet/mustang/maverick applications. edit: the 240/300 is wrong for these cars.
  11. Good idea, Tom. Now I gotta drag my '64 wip out of mothballs Since mine's a canadian car, it's going to be an amt '64 front with '66 resin dart quarters. Also picked up a polar lights coronet ragtop for the rear seat dogleg panels.
  12. Very interesting, Brian. Looks like some kind of a unibody conversion with regular cab doors.
  13. Judging from some of the greenlight stuff I've seen, they're not much competition
  14. More info here... Ford's 2wd and 4x4 100s used five lug wheels, the 250s had 8 lugs and the 350s had 6 lugs through most of the '60s. Moeb showed a six lug wheel with their tooling mock-ups for the '65/'66 trucks but that one would not be accurate for the subject matter. Now, if they were working on a chevy...
  15. After taking some time this week to double check a few measurements on a 1:1 '66 F100, I offer a 'well done' to the moebius crew for their efforts on the new kit. The upper cab checks out generally on the money proportion-wise. The roof and doors look very good. There is still opportunity for some fairly easy finessing, however... The rear of the lower front fender measures 11.5" (.46) and the old amt nails it. The measurement at the front from the top of the fender to the lower crease is 17" (.68). The lower crease also marks the bottom line of the grill, making the moeb grill a little too tall but isn't really a big deal. It is in fact an almost exact copy (only better done) of the wix diecast '66 grill. The only other item worth possible modification would be the rear window width, 48" in 1:1 (1.92 in scale).
  16. T'was a nice surprise to find a pile all together like this Them there furrin' cars deserve someone with more interest in them than I have, so they'll probably be moving on... mike
  17. Very reasonable garage sale find on this beautiful sunny day
  18. This particular 6 cylinder engine design (240/300) came out originally in '65, along with the twin I-beams. It was used in trucks until the '90s and was used in full sized cars (galaxie etc) into the '70s. The falcon/mustang/maverick six (144,170,200,250) was a different smaller design. mike
  19. Kinda brings to mind an old trucker song 'tombstone every mile'
  20. Thanks Tom. With Steve's inspiring 'nth degree' detailing habit, it's worth trying to help get the right info
  21. Hopefully the licensing will work out for the '79 LRE. It may have been the issue that brought us the 'pumping iron' variant instead.
  22. Here's the general front suspension layout for the single I-beam/leaf spring setup that Ford used on the light trucks until '64 (from the Carpenter '57-'66 catalog) ...and here's the general twin I-beam setup used from '65 - '79 ...plus a 57-60 frame diagram The '65/'66 moeb frames are going to be the same ones used in their '69 - '72 F-series.
  23. Seems to be a different promo-type plastic. Just picked up this built-up one at a swap meet.
