66 Johan/Hasegawa Cadillac bumper
hedotwo replied to hedotwo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If I read your caliper correctly the Johan is wider. I measure my Johan to be 69mm between the tops of the two fins and 76mm overall width. Thanks for helping Steve ? -
66 Johan/Hasegawa Cadillac bumper
hedotwo replied to hedotwo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks a bunch Steve! -
I've been searching for a rear bumper for my Johan 66 Cadillac Coupe de Ville for quite some time, but I've been excluding the Hasegawa 66 thinking it wouldn't fit. Other than the dated plate on the Johan there doesn't appear to be too much different, but the size would be what I'm concerned about. Would anyone know if the Hasegawa would fit the Johan Caddy? Worst case I think I might be able to try removing the right rear taillight from the Hasegawa and fit it to the Johan which is missing the right rear but the remainder of the bumper is great. I would think the Johan hearse/ambulance taillight would work as well. I know the bumper itself is different but the taillight might work. Including a pic of my broken bumper. Thanks!

Your parts knowledge always amazes me Mark ? -
Nice build and the gold looks great.

Love it! I had a 66 Fastback that I'd love to recreate if I could find something like you printed. I'm following and good luck on the build!

Needed parts and builder list.. it's a long list!
hedotwo replied to hedotwo's topic in Trading Post
I finished the Caprice a while back and used an X frame (yes, I'm fully aware of X frame history ?) that I had in one of my parts boxes and it fit nicely with some massaging to fit the resin body. As with most of my builds in the past year or two I'm no longer overly concerned about underhood or chassis detail correctness. They end up in my display cases likely never to be moved again. I know that's hard to stomach for lots of folks, but at my age and the number of projects I'd still like to start and finish before I no longer can, it works for me ?. I've built long enough to have been there and done that with detailing what I won't be able to see but I definitely continue to appreciate those that do great detailing and post their builds. Here's the thread on the finished project.... Thanks Rusty! -
Beautiful build! Congrats!

Fitted a resin replacement windshield frame to this promo and painted with Scalefinishes Mitsubishi Rally Red, then cleared with Tamiya clear.

By looking at the chips you posted the color I have sure looks like Sierra Sand, if the chip is accurate. I went to chrysler300club dot com and they have a color chart for 300's from 55-65 that shows Sierra Sand available. Not sure if they're accurate or not either. Either way, I'll give some thought to leaving it as is, because it really is in good condition and polishing will really finish it off. But... there are three bad sink holes in the trunk that I'd hate to leave without filling and if I end up repairing and having to paint, I'd choose something other from the 65 colors from Scalefinishes. Thanks for the input Steve.

Can anyone help me figure out what 65 Chrysler color this promo is? I have to admit, I can't think of a worse color. My camera made it kind of pinkish brown, but it's acutally more of a real pale brown that just has a touch of pink in it. My guess is sable brown poly. Thanks!

I could try that if I can't find replacements. Thanks!

I'm in need of 3 red taillight lenses to fit a 64 Lincoln. Need two for a hardtop and one for a convertible. I'm going to guess the lenses from 61-65 will work? If no one has any to trade or whatever, would anyone know if there are resin copies available anywhere? Thanks!
