"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
TimJ replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great job Snake! I've been busy with the Testarossa, painting more slats and grilles (never again) and adding the rest of the parts. The only thing I needed to add to the interior was the rear screen. One of the last jobs was to make a replacement mounting panel for the tail lights as the original had gone missing last century. I was able to use some styrene sheet to make something close to the orginal. A coat of satin black and it was ready to be fitted. Once that was done it was just a case of fitting the body and adding the exhaust tips. So, after 25 years, I finally gotter done! I'll try not to leave it so late next time but there's nothing like a tight deadline to focus the mind. ? -

The Stude is looking great with some color on it Tom. The Testarossa had a couple of coats of clear yesterday and today I've been doing detail painting on the body, which has taken some time as the are a lot of grilles and intakes that need to be painted satin black. Nearly there though so if it's not finished by tomorrow night it should only be a day or two late. -
Nice work so far. The radiator support looks good.

Great job on the Mustang Dave, I'm looking forward to seeing Bad Medicine finished. As usual I'm leaving it to the last minute to get the Ferrari finished, maybe I should have chosen a subject that I'm more interested in. Before I sprayed the white primer on the body I added the door mirror and glued the headlamp covers closed as the headlamp pods needed a bit of work to get a good fit and they'd probably stay closed anyway. After the white primer it looked like it was ready for its Miami Vice audition. ? Over the last couple of days the body and other panels have been given a couple of coats of Tamiya Italian Red. It's not perfect but not far off good enough. I'm not sure if it'll be done by Wednesday night but if I concentrate on it for the remaining few days it won't be far off. -

Great job and congrats on the first completion of this round. The black and green really go well together. Back at the Ferrari I've got some primer on the bodyshell and other body parts. DSCF2154 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF2153 by timothy jones, on Flickr -

Great work on the Corvette's interior, I like the fabric headlining too. As mentioned above my entry for this round is this Tamiya Ferrari Testarossa. I bought it back in 1993 and started it soon after. The build stalled when I got to the body as back then I wasn't too confident of my ability to get a decent paint finish from a spray can plus I lost the mounting panel for the tail lights. I'm sure I can cobble together a replacement from styrene sheet. DSCF2145 by timothy jones, on Flickr After spending over a quarter of a century sitting in its box I think it's about time I gotter done. -

Thanks Kyle, I'm pleased with how it turned out. Shame I can't go for a drive in it.? Count me in for the next round Snake. I haven't decided what my entry will be yet (so many choices) but it could be something that 's been untouched since the last millennium. -
Looking good.

Nice work on the Skylark Snake. The Chevelle is done. Why I left it in the box six years ago I don't know as once I got back to it I only needed a few days to finish it off. Nice work so far. I've got the Model King boxing of this kit in the stash so I'll be watching your progress.

Congratulations to those who have got their entries finished, great work guys! ? Talk about leaving things to the last minute! My Chevelle has sat in its box until last week when I thought I'd better do something so the dashboard got some detailing and the seats added to the interior. DSCF2127 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF2128 by timothy jones, on Flickr By yesterday evening I had the detailing on the bumpers done. DSCF2131 by timothy jones, on Flickr Today I superglued the interior tub into the body. While fitting the body to the chassis the driver's seat came loose and I had to refit it through the window, which turned out to be not too difficult. This is how it stands now. DSCF2132 by timothy jones, on Flickr Not much left to do now so it should be done by tomorrow night. -

Thanks Dave, that's quite a compliment. It will be a shame if this thread dies as I've got three stalled builds over the line in the last couple of rounds. I think we're a couple short of the required eight entrants for this round to go ahead. -
Great set of builds, especially the Luftwagen.

Top quality work, that Ferrari looks fantastic.

I managed to finish eight builds in 2020, three of which were stalled builds which I finished as part of Snake's Bring Out Your Dead build and four were Airfix reboxings of other manufacturers kits. That's an impressive set of builds Nigel. Nice to see some of the more unusual Japanese subjects and the Heller Princess.
