Great looking gasser, very well done!

Great job, that has always been one of my favorite front engine dragsters.

Thanks everyone!! I have a buddy that builds 1:1 cars and he told me "this is why we put everything together before paint to make sure it all fits". I just don't know if I have the patience to build it twice.

This started life as a Revell 1/16 scale Tony Nancy kit that had some broken parts and no decals. My hope was to build a Tom McEwen Tirend dragster by swapping out the kit engine for an lph 1320 model products 392 hemi. I built the engine and installed it in the chassis without test fitting the body panels to make sure everything would go together like it should. After trying to install the panels and realizing they were not going to fit without a lot of cutting and reshaping I changed directions. I decided to make it a phantom late 1960's style dragster with the addition of a more modern seat belt harness. Along with the 392 hemi I used Top Studio fittings, Detail Master rubber hose for fuel lines, Detail Master and Pro Tech braided lines, Pro Tech harness and hardware, Competition Resins Hilborn hat and parachute, lph 1320 rear wheels, and nylon cord for the parachute cord. The front wheels were made by Curt Raitz and are amazing! The chassis was painted Tamiya light metallic blue and the body panels Tamiya pure blue. I'm fairly happy with it, just wish I'd done better planning so that I could have built the dragster I wanted.

Are you going to do the plug boots in 1/16 scale as well?

Fantastic build, very realistic, and great attention to detail. Very impressive!

I'm looking for a 1/16th scale Cirello Magneto. Any chance of you printing a few? I've seen them in 1/25th but never in 1/16th.

Beautiful build, great job!

Excellent job! The paint looks fantastic and i really like the detail on the chassis.

Very nice job on a kit that I think isn't very good. I remember the parts weren't very detailed and didn't always fit together very well.

I must have been busy building to miss this one! Great job on this Pierre, I love the Pennzoil livery. You can't go wrong with a combination if yellow and black. Tony is right, with modern super cars and race cars, much of the suspension is covered and doesn't need to be painted or detailed. I love Tamiya kits for their level of detail and great parts fit. -

Thank you all. This was my first attempt at weathering a body. The Tamiya weathering kits are really easy to use. I used them over the cleared body and they hold up real well and don't rub off. I highly recommend them. -
Thank you guys for the replies and suggestions. I think I'll try the decals and see how they look.

Does anyone know of a source for scale engine turned aluminum or an easy way to replicate if? I'm getting ready to start a 1/16 scale FED that has an engine turned aluminum cowl. Maybe even a decal?

Great looking model, very clean build! I've wanted to build an F-1 for a while, love the looks of them, just haven't had the guts to pull the trigger and purchase one.

Tamiya Porsche 911 GT1

Thank you guys!! Rich: the Tamiya decals were quite a challenge, a few of them tore and I had to piece them back together. Most of the issues with the Tamiya decals were probably my own fault. There are a lot of decals and although challenging they conformed with setting solution. The Scale motorsports carbon fiber decals were great to work with. They were easy to apply and very forgiving if they had to be moved. The bottom pan of the chassis is made up of 7 or 9 decals all of which laid down and conformed to the bare plastic real well. -

That came out really nice Ray! The paint and decals look great. Did you run the Future through an airbrush our did you brush it on? -
Just finished this 911. It went together well like all Tamiya kits, very few fit issues until the very end. The front of the body didn't want to sit down where it should without clamping it down after gluing it in place. I gave the model a post race look using Tamiya weathering kits and oil spots using the toothbrush splatter method. Detailed the body, interior and chassis with Scale motorsport carbon fiber decals and photoetch set. Unfortunately, once the body is installed a lot of the detail is lost without really good eyes and a flashlight! This its my first attempt at weathering a body to give it the raced in look, overall i like the way it came out.
