Another Hemi Car: Come On..REALLY?
CJ1971 replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All of them came with 6cy motors, at least from all the info' I've got/seen/read. They were the very base motors in the Chargers. As for the topic... Well I'm a Mopar guy & I've got nearly all the available Mopar kits. I'm quite happy to have them with the 440 or Hemi. I have no interest in the slant-6s. I like the big blocks ?. I'm not into "base" models. Sure they're cool for the guys who had a 1:1 & want to replicate it & so forth, but I never had 1. As for building them, I generally do custom pro-tourer type builds.... You ever see a pro-tourer with a slant 6? ( stock ?) If I build stock I'd rather build an R/T ... & they didn't come with a slant 6 either. As for the E-Bodies... I'm fairly sure Revell have plans for an AAR kit, based on strong rumours. So I'll be happy with that too. As for newer stuff.... The current Gen' Charger is yet to be kitted... Or the new Viper... Or the new Ram... I'd snap any of these up in a heartbeat... Especially if they come with a HEMI!! ???? -
Sweet!!! ??? Looking forward to getting mine! This is the Japanese version right? Because Nao told me the Overseas/international version has the "big" SV decals included. Looks very nice, lots of parts & as good as their Aventador ?? I know the rims are the stock ones but I think I'll go with another style ? Cheers & thanks Jonathan ??

Sweet! Got a couple coming next week ?? Did you get the PE set too, Jonathan? How about a review in the new kits section, with pics of course? ??? Cheers Cliff

New Ferrari California T
CJ1971 replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
True... But they do have a deal with Ferrari & it's not impossible for them to do this new T ;-) -
The bigger disappointment is tyre size. Out of the 3 Japanese makers Aoshima has been spot on with theirs ( including ride height ) Tamiya's are ok but some kits have had too tall tyre height & Fujimi's are down right disgraceful. Revell ( both AG & USA ) are rubbish. Too tall, too wide or not wide enough & NO sidewall detail. Luckily for us the after-market companies are correcting these problems & we're able to amend these woeful inconsistencies, to achieve correct scale tyres/wheels... Whether it's for a stock version or custom.

Ditto ;-) ... No doubt Fujimi or Revell AG will have this tagged & bagged within the next 6mnths :-) -
Anyone ever build a paint room ?

That's a serious paint-booth mate! Wish I had the room to do that! ?? Cliffo -

Def' agree with Matt... Or an Aston ;-) Cliffo -
The stock SV is shipping out of Aoshima HQ as I write this.... Should be in LHSs very shortly... I'd say Hobby Search /HLJ will have them within 24-48hrs. Cliffo Looking at April for the R-SV version... There will be 2 versions/liveries ;-) They're ( Aoshima ) actually releasing them internationally first. Japan won't have them until after June/July... :-)

$146,000 model dragster,YIKES!
CJ1971 replied to Mack_Mechanic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think what most of you guys aren't taking into consideration is that these aren't "models" they're works of art, whether they're covered in jewels & gold, only means they're worth, at the very least, face value. The face value of these "works" are or are very close to the asking price. When you take into consideration they're 1-off's & then the actual artist ( builder/maker ) may be quite popular, then that also drives the price, now & in the future. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy any of them, not for the prices being asked. Maybe something a little more subtle but within my price range, IF I was loaded! :-( Sadly I'm not. -

CJ1971 replied to Mack_Mechanic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
$146K? Pfffft ... That's pocket change compared to these 2... Which everyone should recall/be aware of.... $4.7 & $8 Million respectively... -

Try here... This guy is a forum member & it's his car... I'm sure he'd be happy to get you some detailed pics of any part of his car ;-) http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84506#entry1101110

I agree with Harry.... I guess it's more of a re-fresh than a restoration :-) It's a sweet Charger before & after either way, Randy.

I've actually just purchased some 1/24 hobby gear stuff, roadside equipment/witches hats etc, because they're hard to scratch build & quite convenient for dioramas. While going through their eBay store they have nearly double 1/18 scale stuff then they do 1/24. So I'd say most of their stock/stuff IS 1/18.

I'd go with the La Ferrari... Haven't seen it in ANY WIP sections on any of the forums I'm on... I'm curious to how good it is?

Current releases,future value
CJ1971 replied to Greg Cullinan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Put simply... No. On another note... Only hoarders hoard. Hobbyists actually build. If you're buying a model kit simply for future worth you're a collector not a modeller/hobbyist. -
I've used Zero's 2pk clear system as well as other automotive 2pks including HOK's & currently BASF's Glasurit. After getting some tips from a good friend I found the best application for them all is very low pressure, around 5-10psi, no more. A 0.5mm nozzle is perfect. Keep the gun nice & close. Do 3 consecutive layers 10mins apart.... Eventually the layers combine & you should get very minimal orange peel. Let it dry/gas out for at least 24hours. Then wet sand ( no less than 4000 grit ) once any orange peel is smoothed out, clear coat again 2-3 layers. This will make the body really shine after wet sanding those final clear coats & then polishing.
