  1. Nice painting! Yes,like they said, watercolors are tricky. I tried them a few times, but didn't have much luck. It's hard to correct a mistake. There's no 'undo' button.
  2. Here's my latest one I built a few years back. Very traditional. I like the sedan ad the delivery, too.
  3. Yes, I'm that old old old, too. Nice to know I'm in good company... That was my first 'real' model kit. I got for my 9th birthday. My oldest brother built it for me,and I 'rebuilt' it later as subsequent glue bombs. nice kit, molded in black. I have one of those boxes in my collection, too.
  4. LOL I've always had the inability to produce perfection. I'll never ,ever be as good as some modelers ,so I just do my best and don't worry about it.
  5. I've ordered from them several times over the years. Very high quality resin, and great tires. I've only had one part that was bad,and they replaced it with no problem. Going to have to order some parts...
  6. Hey Chris, you might look at these. They're not plastic, but still pretty cool. http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-ASSORTED-Classic-Cardboard-Cars-Party-Planner-Food-Paper-Serving-Tray-Favor-/370874293134?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5659d49b8e
  7. Allen, are you making a diorama of Graceland or something? The Zimmer Quicksilver is OK-barely. But the others.... No thanks.
  8. That sounds familiar. Right now,I'm trying to get some of my WIP's done. It's hard to do because there are new kits I really want to build. you have to focus on one or two things at a time ,I guess. Good luck.
  9. Oh yeah, I would love to see the original reissued. And their 36 Ford, too.
  10. As for the wood on the doors goes, wouldn't you cut out the darker wood areas? That way the lighter wood areas (actually the AMT door) would be flush with the fenders.
  11. I love good challenge! If I didn't already have 3 builds going, (What only 3?) Well, you know... I'm not really even a Ford guy,but I really prefer the look of the 49 Ford over the 49 Mercury.
  12. Still thinking... I'm wondering id the best way to do this is to cut the Ford right behind the doors and across the roo,and do the same for the woody. Use the Ford chassis, with modifications. Is it just me,or does the Ford woody roof look taller above the windshield, compared to the coupe?.
  13. Very nice John! I like the way you work your backgrounds into the drawing. It seems when I draw with pencils,I don't usually put a background in it,unless it's really called for. I do when I paint, but not with pencil. I've been experimenting with charcoal pencils for the big, dark areas. it seems to help, and like you said,it gets rid of the shine.
  14. Has anyone compared the AMT 49 Ford with the Mercury? I just did,and it doesn't look good. The Merc is bigger. The doors are longer, the front clip is longer ,and the woody body appears to be a little wider. It looks like it would take a lot more work than I originally thought.
  15. I've been wondering about this conversion too. Is the Merc windshield the same width as the Ford? I wonder if you could cut the Merc body right above the door handles where it starts to bulge outwards. And then back to the vertical door line.
  16. Could you dip Cheerios in white glue or clearcoat to make doughnuts? Mmmmmmm doughnuts....
  17. Nice drawing to put it mildly.. OK, I want all of your secrets. What kind of pencils do you use. 2B ,4B? And what is the guild that you mentioned?
  18. Nice job! I like the 'off beat' trucks like this.
  19. It's hard to say. I don't really have anyone to leave them to. The unbuilt ones might go on Ebay, and the builts will probably go to the curb.
  20. I'll second that.
  21. Well, this makes me feel old. I can remember when the show was on TV. Not very long either. Ann Southern did the voice for the car. Look on youtube...
  22. I made one from a piece of 3/4" plywood and some heavy gauge wire. Works great!
  23. I'm making a replica of the Futurista display, and I need a little help. I can't make out what it says under 'Chrome plated Volkswagen engine' on the lower left. I found this picture on Google, but it's so small and fuzzy. Any ideas? Thanks!
