  1. LOL!! I play Colin McRea Rally 4 on my pc. That's what my co pilot should sound like.
  2. Hey Glen, You just need to use a program like PictureIt 2000 or Paint Shop Pro. Have you ever tried charcoal pencils? I'm trying some now after seeing a youtube video about them. I normally work in pencil, too. My avatar is an older piece I did in pencil. Here's one of yours touched up a little.
  3. Nice work! Is that pencil?
  4. C'mon kids, time for school! Your limo's here! Yeah,it's nice, but not in this country. Around here, they can't decide to put seat belts on a bus. Or who's going to pat for it.
  5. X2! Very creative!
  6. Good post and some good points! I'm kind of divided on the tires. I've seen good and bad in both vinyl and styrene. The MPC Datsun pickups had styrene tires, and they were horrible. Too tall, too skinny, and hardly any tread detail. As far as tractors and farm equipment go, I've never built any,but they do look interesting. I can see the point about it being a smaller market for them. Personally I would like to see some older big truck models, like a 56 Ford F-600 or 60 Chevy dump truck. Talk about a small piece of the model hobby pie...
  7. Does anyone remember the contest that Monogram had where someone would win the Orange Hauler? i bought the kit when it first came out and the entry form was in it. I lay awake for several nights thinking what I would do with it. Hey- I was 10 years old, what do you expect?
  8. That is really clever.
  9. 1952,Not a great year for cars. I'll go with the Chevy pickup
  10. That is too cool! Beautiful truck! I play in a band, and a few years ago,we played at a big rig show. There was a 56 ( I think) Mack there similar in size to that. I was amazed at how little it was compared to the new trucks!
  11. I've always been a fan of the Mako Shark II or Manta Ray.
  12. I missed out on those. I guess I didn't have the 69 cents... That would be about 12.50 today.
  13. Must have been from the midwest... You gotta remember those cars are over 40 years old now. Still funny because it's not mine.
  14. Stupid things? Let's see here. I usually have about 2 projects going at the same time. i had an unpainted car body on the bench. I was working on something else non modeling and I had my trusty soldering iron out. Wasn't watching when I put the iron back on it's stand, and put it right on the door of the car. Fortunately it was repairable. Another time I was casting some resin parts.,and started pouring the resin in the mold before I realized I hadn't mixed the 2 parts together. Messy cleanup. When I was a kid? Let's not go there...
  15. Cool Idea! When I was in high school; (in the 60's)A lot of guys couldn't afford mag wheels,so black rims with baby moons and those 'new' narrow whitewalls were the ticket. Maybe a chrome tube grille.Of course the back end was jacked up. 8 tracks came along in the late 60's,but guys would put speakers in the package tray by the rear window. And a 3 spoke steering wheel. Now you're talkin'...
  16. Wow, Those are great! Really nice work!
  17. Great idea! What's the difference between a VW and a Binz? I've seen pictures but it's been a while. Go to dropgates.com if you haven't already. A ton of reference for what you're doing.
  18. Wow,Doug, that turned out great! Nice paint scheme too.
  19. My brother and I were talking about this one day. It's not just car models. There's people out there doing the same thing for model railroading old radios, whatever. We wonder if they do it for tax reasons. At the end of the year, they can claim all this unsold over-priced merchandise on their taxes. Just a thought. Or like you said-there's always some one willing to pay for it.
  20. Well, there's some one who has more money than I do. Nice collection.
  21. Any way, back to the car fire... Too many burnouts?
  22. I had a nice sized collection of pace cars for a while. I ended up selling a lot of them on the Bay. Here's a few. Sorry some of the pics are so bad. Pre digital stuff. Some of these were built before the convertibles were released. Had a little help from Fred Cady,The Maodelhaus and some scratchbuilding.
  23. Eldon Palmer comes to mind right away,Harry. A car dealer driving a pace car? I still remember that from 1971. He must have had some kind of influence somewhere
