Great looking model of a good looking car, Mario !
-
Another long gone, old school build: built in 1987/88 from the then-new amt/ERTL release in their short-lived "customizing Series" - as usual: box stock straight from the box, blackwash for the grille, spraypainted with car laquers, trim brushed Humbrol silver (no polishing, no further detailing):
-
The nicest model built from this kit I've ever seen - perfect paint job and foil work - simply a beautiful car !
-
Thank you all, guys - this is the reason why I'm gonna keep this one (and it will fit to my 1/18 Tamiya kits) - I already got rid of almost all my 1/18 die-casts and will concentrate again on 1/24 (and 1/25). In my stash are the Fujimi (=Modeler) 2 D, Paul Fisher's 2 F and Arii's 2 C which is a bad joke. I have sold off years ago 2 Monogram 2 Ds and Union's (=IMC) 2 E

Perfect build of this Ferrari - glass smooth paint job and professional photography! -
Finally, the last of my 3 remaining 1/18 race cars: Jim Hall's fantastic 2 A in its latest stage of evolution - the 1965 version which easily won the USRRC that year with Jim Hall and Hap Sharp at the controls: 15 wins at all (c. Pete Lyons) - here is a highly detailed model from AutoArt (only slight distraction comes from the door hinges):

Excellent, Mario - I always enjoy your builds (with that realistic background)

Got Revell's new 1/24 Jag E-type roadster kit and a book about the 1969 Ferrari 312 P as birthday presents from my wife.

1966 Chaparral 2E

Very well done, Rich - impressive model of Jim Hall's legendary racer. 24 tiny photo-etch fasteners : OMG ! I think you matched the color really well: I'm not sure which white will be the best for my Fujimi (= Modeler) 2D and Arii's 2 C - both in my stash: I have 2 Chaparral books, and the color pics show all kinds of white: from a very cold white up to the warm, creamy tone that Tamiya's racing white has. An airbrush would come handy here. -
Perfect, Mario ! Looks like Christine is sitting in the dark waiting for her next victim...

Perfect model, Thomas; concerning the the EM kit, it IS possible to glue the lower front body part before painting. I did that more than 30 years ago (this is the result: Installation of the chassis was a bit tricky, but doable ( I followed the instructions with this one)

Thanks, Gary - here is the " Ferodo decal photo" I mentioned above (from Alan Henry's book "Ferrari Prototypes 1962 - 73):

My second 1/18 racing car model: In 1971 Ferrari tested, developed and raced (without much luck) their new 3 –ltr. prototype, the 312 PB, and in 1972 the preparation finally paid off: they won all races they participated but left out Le Mans, thinking their car which was more or less a F 1 car with a slightly detuned engine in a sportscar body could not stand the stress of a 24 hr. race (Daytona was shortened from 24 to 6 hrs. that year). So Matra had their first Le Mans victory, everything else was won by Ferrari (2 or 3 works cars took part in each race) with a team of world-class drivers: Mario Andretti , Jacky Ickx, Clay Regazzoni, Ronnie Peterson, Brian Redman, Arturo Merzario, Tim Schenken and even rally ace Sandro Munari who took the laurels at the Targa Florio together with Arturo Merzario where Ferrari only entered a single car beating a whole armada of Alfa Romeos. Some years ago, I could buy one at a sale – it is the 1000 km Monza winning car of Jacky Ickx/Clay Regazzoni - highly detailed model with perfect proportions, but gmp sometimes overdid it a bit: the tire markings – less would have been more, and the fabric of the seats is out of scale (similar to CMC). They truly strived for perfection: the damaged “Ferodo” decal is no mistake, but looks exactly like on the real car (I have a pic in one of my books showing this). Anyway, enjoy the pics of the last great Ferrari prototype.

There is also a stock version available in British Racing green or in a shade of metllic gold, Gary. I was tempted first, but refused to buy, as I also have the Danbury Mint version in Metallic Red. Here are the colors: https://www.carmodel.com/search?keyword=MOTOR-MAX+-+ASTON+MARTIN+-+DB5+1963&order=&resultsPerPage=&priceorder=&country=&scale=all&nuOb=&trademark=&year=&brand=&mat=&price=

Very nice model of one of the most beautiful sportscars ever - Giallo Fly (yellow) is the best choice for the Dino 246 - I painted mine in the same color in the 90's (EM kit).

What did you see on the road today?
1959scudetto replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This morning I was going to my dentist and in the lane beside me there was a car transporter loaded with some new cars and the following 3 classics from the 50's and 60's: Jaguar XK140 FHC, Series 1 E-Type and Porsche 356 Speedster . I never expected to see such cars here - unfortunately no photos (I was on my way to a tooth extraction), but this sight really made my day! -

BMW 507 Cabrio 1957 - Elvis Presley's one - Revell old kit 1:24

This will be another outstanding model, Thierry (I do have it in my stash also, bought the very first release, will build it some day but won't get that far like you). Another famous car belonged to former motorcycle and F1 champion, John Surtees, who got a 507 as a present from his former boss, Conte Agusta, when winning the bike world championship on MV Agusta in 1956. He kept the car all his life, and when he died a few years ago, it has been sold (at an auction, I believe).- 113 replies
