  1. Thank you all for your nice comments guys - I really appreciate this.
  2. Thanks, Bill - I always seem to have problems with attaching those tire transfers. That is why I switched to conventional decals.
  3. Absolutely - I would take any of these for my own collection!
  4. Great models, Gary - unbelievable the 1974 Matra (spliced together from 2 smaller scale kits!)
  5. Very nice build - you certainly did NOT pick an easy one for your first build (I remember several troubles back in the early 80's when I built mine)
  6. Here are two more winners: 1984 Porsche 956 (Tamiya 1/24) of Pescarolo/Ludwig/Johansson (Team Joest) and finally (after Matra 1972-74) again a French win with 2 French drivers in France: 1978 Renault Alpine A 442 (Tamiya 1/24), driven by Didier Pironi/Jean-Pierre Jaussaud: Here side by side with the 2nd place Porsche 936-78: I have further winners (1963-1965-1967-1968-1969-1970-1971 and 1982) in my stash, but still unbuilt ...
  7. Excellent your 1963 winning 250 P, Gary - and of course GT40 # 1075, the first double winner (1968 and 1969) - my alltime favorite sports racer (I have these 3 in my stash - albeit still unbuilt)!
  8. Very nice, Gerald - it was driven by Jürgen Barth and Hurley Haywood, later in the race heavily supported by fJacky Ickx after his own car DNFed.
  9. x 2! Phil, this looks much better than my Union/IMC Mk IV which was horrible.
  10. Super collection, Larry - the Talbotl-Lago is a special rarity - never seen a model of it ! Could it possibly be built from Heller's single-seater (with cycle fenders, lights, spare wheel and 2 seats)?
  11. Here are my 1966 Mk II's (both from Fujimi) - the black one needs a light restoration (the decals were not opaque at all, and the tire lettering is wrong): and here is the 1967 winner (Dan Gurney with "rookie" A.J. Foyt) - 1/25 Union kit (= IMC reissue from the 80's) - the kit has full detail, but has a lot of issues (it was already designed in the 60's) - the opening front and rear panels don't fit at all - I sold this one off (have a nice 1/24 resin kit from Le Mans miniatures in my stash):
  12. Very cool model in a rather realistic looking setting, Gary - Especially the picture where the car is going to leave the pit area heading for the track again.
  13. Very nice pictures of Ford's winners circle (1966, 1967, 1968/69), Rex !
  14. Thanks Anders, Carl and Chris for your comments !
  15. One of the highlights of Group C racing, I highly recommend this kit to anyone who wants a "quickbuilder" - a simple curbside kit with no engine or suspension detail at all (just like the average resin models), but with a perfectly proportioned body and awesome decals: I did like the instructions told me - just painted the body racing white (with auto laquers from the can) - the purple and orange colors are all decals: they snug down like a dream even on the compound curves without wrinkles or bubbles - NO decal solution necessary. I only had to paint the green parts with a brush and a bit touch up on 2 or 3 tiny spots with purple (and of course, the headlight surroundings). Built in 1989, photos made just now. Two Group C track rivals:
  16. The famous Ken Miles/Denny Hulme runner-up car of Le Mans 1966 - out-of-the-box-built in 1990, photos from 2005 - spray-painted from the can. Main issue is the tire-lettering: I could not apply the rub-on decals, so I went for some decals from the spares which are too big - will be reworked some day. Here together with its sister car, the winning #2 (Bruce McLaren/Chris Amon)
  17. x 2: Absolutely fabulous, Gary - I never could do this.
  18. Hallo Oliver, there is also a diecast available in 1/24 - I just started a new topic about this in the diecast section of the board.
  19. Now for something different: the 1989 Alfa Romeo S.Z., a limited edition sports car, based on the Alfa 75, the suspension was taken from the Alfa 75 group A/IMSA car and modified by Giorgio Pianta. Back then it was the fastest Alfa Romeo production car (150 mph +) - Only one official colour scheme was available: red with dark grey roof, tan leather interior. Kits are rare, but a die-cast is available (from the 2010 Alfa Romeo Centenary collection): biggest issue are the lights (front lights have no lenses, backlights should be toned down with Tamiya smoke clear or something similar), stance is a tad too high – so a little bit of detail work will be necessary – here are the pics:
  20. Fascinating models, Gary - show us more, please!
  21. Thanks Bruce, Ray, Gary, Rusty, Mario and Larry for the compliments ! The model may be gone, but I've got a replacement: a 1/24 die-cast from the Italian Alfa Romeo Centenary collection (2010/2011) - with a little TLC and some detailing it won't look bad either - here it is as it looks like out-of-its-blister-package:
  22. In 1991 I built the aggressive-looking Zagato Coupé in commission for a hobby shop owner in Vienna. He handed me over the ultra-rare, limited edition Japanese resin kit (very few heavy resin parts, metal axles, white metal wheels, vac-formed clear parts and a few photo-etched details like emblems and wipers). At the same time an Alfa Romeo dealer had this car in his showroom, and I was allowed to take a lot of color detail photos inside and out which was very helpful in detailing the model. The model is long gone, a few color prints are left - I scanned them today - here they are:
  23. Very nice paint and detailing here, Ryan - the dashboard is one of the best I've seen in a long time! Marvellous, as is the whole interior!
  24. Very nice Ford, Mario !
  25. Fascinating model, Tomasz - I thought that you prefer the really old vintage racers.
