  1. Thanks Anders, Carl and Chris for your comments !
  2. One of the highlights of Group C racing, I highly recommend this kit to anyone who wants a "quickbuilder" - a simple curbside kit with no engine or suspension detail at all (just like the average resin models), but with a perfectly proportioned body and awesome decals: I did like the instructions told me - just painted the body racing white (with auto laquers from the can) - the purple and orange colors are all decals: they snug down like a dream even on the compound curves without wrinkles or bubbles - NO decal solution necessary. I only had to paint the green parts with a brush and a bit touch up on 2 or 3 tiny spots with purple (and of course, the headlight surroundings). Built in 1989, photos made just now. Two Group C track rivals:
  3. The famous Ken Miles/Denny Hulme runner-up car of Le Mans 1966 - out-of-the-box-built in 1990, photos from 2005 - spray-painted from the can. Main issue is the tire-lettering: I could not apply the rub-on decals, so I went for some decals from the spares which are too big - will be reworked some day. Here together with its sister car, the winning #2 (Bruce McLaren/Chris Amon)
  4. x 2: Absolutely fabulous, Gary - I never could do this.
  5. Hallo Oliver, there is also a diecast available in 1/24 - I just started a new topic about this in the diecast section of the board.
  6. Now for something different: the 1989 Alfa Romeo S.Z., a limited edition sports car, based on the Alfa 75, the suspension was taken from the Alfa 75 group A/IMSA car and modified by Giorgio Pianta. Back then it was the fastest Alfa Romeo production car (150 mph +) - Only one official colour scheme was available: red with dark grey roof, tan leather interior. Kits are rare, but a die-cast is available (from the 2010 Alfa Romeo Centenary collection): biggest issue are the lights (front lights have no lenses, backlights should be toned down with Tamiya smoke clear or something similar), stance is a tad too high – so a little bit of detail work will be necessary – here are the pics:
  7. Fascinating models, Gary - show us more, please!
  8. Thanks Bruce, Ray, Gary, Rusty, Mario and Larry for the compliments ! The model may be gone, but I've got a replacement: a 1/24 die-cast from the Italian Alfa Romeo Centenary collection (2010/2011) - with a little TLC and some detailing it won't look bad either - here it is as it looks like out-of-its-blister-package:
  9. In 1991 I built the aggressive-looking Zagato Coupé in commission for a hobby shop owner in Vienna. He handed me over the ultra-rare, limited edition Japanese resin kit (very few heavy resin parts, metal axles, white metal wheels, vac-formed clear parts and a few photo-etched details like emblems and wipers). At the same time an Alfa Romeo dealer had this car in his showroom, and I was allowed to take a lot of color detail photos inside and out which was very helpful in detailing the model. The model is long gone, a few color prints are left - I scanned them today - here they are:
  10. Very nice paint and detailing here, Ryan - the dashboard is one of the best I've seen in a long time! Marvellous, as is the whole interior!
  11. Very nice Ford, Mario !
  12. Fascinating model, Tomasz - I thought that you prefer the really old vintage racers.
  13. Well done Jaguar in a quite unusual color!
  14. Well done model of the 1985 runner-up of the Portugal rally, Patrick! Makes me want to take mine out of the stash and start building.
  15. Some years ago I found these pictures on the internet - possibly the role model for the cream-colored version: cream/ivory color with dark green wheels and green (although lighter) interior:
  16. One of Pininfarina’s most famous designs, built in 1954-55 (only 240 pcs., 50 of them are lying on the bottom of the Atlantic ocean when the steamer “Andrea Doria” sank after a collision with another ship in 1956 with these on board, destined for the USA). Whereas the 1:1 cars demand prices of about $ 1000000 or more at auctions, these 1/24 diecasts are available for little money: the cream-colored one is from the Italian Quattroruote series from 2008/2009, whereas the silver example is from the Auto vintage deluxe collection that started also in Italy in 2013 – both are made by Ixo and are very well proportioned (the metallic grey one has a too glossy red interior which should be toned down) – I only added Italian and French license plates to them – otherwise they remain untouched. On to the pics (shot 3 hrs. ago):
  17. Hi, Robert - the Centenary collection (scale 1/24) is made by Ixo and distributed by Hachette only at newsstands in Italy. It started in July 2010 (Celebrating 100 years of Alfa Romeo) and issued 30 models over a 60-week period. 10 years ago you could find every model for small money on ebay - now they have become pretty expensive and sometimes hard to find. Here is a link from a Spanish website which shows pictures of every model of the series (text is in Spanish): http://diecast24.blogspot.com/2016/05/alfa-romeo-coleccion-centenario.html
  18. Very nice model in your trademark colors, Ken !
  19. Very nice model of a not-so-easy kit ! (I had the '73 Gordon Johncock STP version, but never got to it and finally sold it)
  20. Super, Mario - these realistic-looking finishes is what we are expecting from you - looks great as always !
  21. Very well done kit - with all those opening panels, it is a rather difficult to build model (I know, I built mine in the mid-80's)
  22. Perfect model and paint - could be from a Porsche calendar or sales brochure!
  23. Very nice, Anders - looks like the real one in a sales brochure.
  24. For those of you who are not aware what a Lancia Aurelia B 20 Coupé should look like - here it is (internet picture):
  25. You're welcome,Gary - I was eagerly awaiting the Jaguar Mk X , but after the desaster with the Lancia I thought to myself forget these !
