The BMW 328 (1936-1940) pre-dates the founding of Bristol Cars in 1945. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Cars Pre-war BMW designs, The Aldington Brothers and the Early Cars[edit]HJ Aldington, a director of the Bristol Aeroplane Company affiliated AFN (BMW's pre-war concessionaire in the UK), used his British Army connections to visit the bombed BMW factory in Munich several times post-war. In 1945 he took plans for BMW cars back to Britain,[9] and BMW chief engineer, Dr. Fritz Fiedler was also employed. Its first car was the Bristol 400, prototyped in 1946 and introduced at the 1947 Geneva Motor Show. Derived from immediately pre-WW2 BMW products (thanks to a connection to BMW through Frazer Nash), the chassis was based on the BMW 326, the engine on the 328,[12] and the body on the 327. Even a variation on the famous double-kidney BMW grille was retained. Bristol, however, did a thorough examination of the car's handling and ended up with performance "only matched by outright purpose-built competition cars".[13] 700 of the Bristol 400 were built, with 17 receiving "handsome" drophead bodywork from Pininfarina.[7]

Great project Dennis.

The 166 MM is one of my favorite Ferraris. I blunted the nose. Then after cutting a notch in the lower valance I glued in a piece of square bar. Then started shaping. Still needs to have the sides blended in and a lot more shaping but a decent start.

Yea there are some challenges ahead. I should have waited to start the thread after I was sure I could pull off the body mods. I guess we'll all find out together.

Thanks guy's for the interest. Here I have added pulley detail, water inlet/outlet and an oil filter from the parts box. Click on the pictures to see them full scale.

While doing research for my many Cobra projects I read that the Bristol engine is a derivative of the BMW 328. I have always wanted to build the father of the Cobra so I tracked down a Heller BMW 328 kit. It’s a great little kit with a surprising amount of detail for the engine. However I thought I could raise the detail level with a little scratch building. The cylinder head has as a deep well in the center. The kit provides no real detail here so I fabricated the intake tubes and the cross sleeves for the push rods. I striped the chrome plating from the kit carbs. The air cleaner cover is flat on top where it should have a small recess in the center. Using a Dremel ball bit turned in my fingers I created this recess. I’ll added small PE header flanges under the carbs to replicate their mounting flanges. I extended the oil fill tube using some solid rod and fabricated a cap with a punch out of flat stock.

Outstanding! Nicer finish than the original 1:1 I would guess. -

This one is up there on the rarity scale and may be my all time favorite box art. And no this is not from my collection.

Great start.

I missed this one when it was originally posted, very nice Dann.

Thanks again for the comments. I added the identification stripes to the front passenger fender. Had to cut the decal down a bit to fit my 1:25 scale body. I updated the pictures in the OP.

NFL wins Deflategate appeal, Tom Brady suspension back on

Second Circuit slams door on Judge Berman scrapping Brady suspension again Posted by Mike Florio on April 25, 2016, 12:10 PM EDT APWhen Judge Richard Berman issued his ruling scuttling the Tom Brady suspension, Judge Berman refrained from addressing multiple other arguments supporting the potential reversal of the discipline imposed on Brady as a result of the #Deflategate situation. The move was viewed as an opportunity for Judge Berman to overturn the suspension a second time, if the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit disagreed with Judge Berman on the initial grounds for wiping out the suspension. In reversing Judge Berman, however, the Second Circuit opted to rule on all open issues, blocking any further effort by Judge Berman to defeat the suspension. “Although it is our usual practice to allow the the district court to address arguments in the first instance, we choose to address the [NFLPA’s] arguments here because they were fully briefed below and on appeal and because they are meritless,” the Second Circuit wrote at page 30 of the ruling. The two open issues related to the argument that Commissioner Roger Goodell improperly delegated his authority to NFL executive V.P. of football operations Troy Vincent to make the first decision regarding the imposition of discipline and the claim that Goodell was “evidently partial” in his role as arbitrator. “Here, the parties contracted in the CBA to specifically allow the Commissioner to sit as the arbitrator,” the Second Circuit wrote at page 33. “They did so knowing full well that the Commissioner had the sole power of determining what constitutes ‘conduct detrimental,’ and thus knowing that the Commissioner would have a stake both in the underlying discipline and in every arbitration [falling within his jurisdiction]. Had the parties wished to restrict the Commissioner’s authority, they could have fashioned a different agreement.” That’s a powerful statement, which underscores the breadth of the Commissioner’s authority and, in turn, gives the NFL the ability to push for a major concession at the bargaining table if/when the NFL Players Association decides to continue to push for third-party arbitration in all cases. -

NFL wins Deflategate appeal, Tom Brady suspension back on Posted by Michael David Smith on April 25, 2016, 11:49 AM EDT Getty ImagesThe NFL has won the latest round in its Deflategate legal battle, and Tom Brady is once again suspended for the first four games of the season. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has ruled that the NFL does indeed have the authority to suspend Brady, overturning a lower court ruling and reinstating the four-game suspension that Brady was originally handed last year. The league’s findings in the Deflategate investigation were that Brady was more probable than not to have ordered the Patriots’ equipment staff to deflate footballs below the minimum level of 12.5 psi. Brady has insisted that he did no such thing. There have been so many twists and turns in the Deflategate saga that no one should assume it’s over, but at the moment the NFL has won and Brady has lost, and the Patriots appear set to start the season without their star quarterback. -
Thanks Dave. Yea I was contemplating the flip top car. However a gentlemen in our model club is already working on one, it is the unpainted body in front of the line of Cobras. He started with the Revellogram 427 body. Looks darn good so far.
