Still waiting for 218. Should I be concerned?

Thanks David, did a nice ride yesterday but worked on this last night and today so I have some progress pics. I have the harpoon and posts done and some interior shots before final assembly. It's getting closer to completion. Thanks for the continued interest.

So I have a new motorcycle on top of my others keeping me entertained. What's worse than foiling one 59 Caddy, that's right two and even worse the second one sits between the fins of the first. It's not perfect but considering the task and my dread of doing it it looks acceptable. This project is one step closer to being done, but riding season is here again. I hope I keep both moving forward. Thanks for following.

As with most my projects, it looks and sounds simple but the reality is the opposite. I had to create a new front and back for this but wanted to respect the styling of the era. I'm happy with the front although it reminds me of a Jaguar. It still needs a spoiler or some kind of treatment under and around the license plate area. The back is giving me more fits and is still in design to put it mildly but sharing the progress as slow as it is.

I raised the C-pillar about 3/32" and mocked up a panel using the obnoxiously thick stock rear window. I think it flows better with rest of the car. I was liking the look of the longer trunk until I mocked up tires in the wheel wells, made it look weak in the back end. Still not sure about the valence widow, might have to open it up more into the C-pillar. I'm going to think about it for a bit before moving on. Any thoughts would be welcomed. Thanks for looking.

I like it a lot, your paint job? Looks like a ton of seam cleanup for such a new kit but you made it look awesome.

The more I fiddle with this, I remember now why I put this back in the box? The problems and fitment are many, this will definitely be a curbside build. All the suggestions are awesome and will be considered. After trying to mock up a ride height the back of the cabin looks too low for my taste. I will raise it up some more and add panels similar to Mikes illustration. I'm not sure what it will end up looking like but it's fun to mess with. Thanks guys

Several years ago one was posted as a WIP and it gave me the idea to get my saw out. As it sits now the cabin and engine bay have been turned around and rear wheel wells reshaped. The hood was shaped to fit the trunk opening and a nascar hood is being used as a new trunk lid. It's looking like a lot of bodywork and custom fabrication ahead. I hope starting a thread will get the juices flowing. For those following my Gigahorse build, it's back on the bench being foiled (what a project that is). This one is to keep my sanity when I need a break from that. Wish me luck?

Sorry Bob and anyone else who might be wondering but there is no new progress. Life happens and it stalled out for a bit but I really would like get it finished up this year. I'll update when I have some progress to show. It's too close to being done, I have to finish it. Thanks for the continued interest.

I had seen this and really like what they did to it. I then went looking for a 72 Javelin glue bomb, still crazy prices. Maybe someday I'll find one local or reasonable to give this a try. I think it would be a fun build.

Is it too early to buy tickets?

Thanks for the interest and kind comments everyone, I will give an update to where I'm at. I have been messing with the dash detail and like most things with this build there is a lot of trial and error. While not a facsimile, I hope whatever I come up with will pass as an acceptable attempt. One of the better interior pics. This detail is also on the lower door panels so I took this image found on the internet and printed it out in different sizes. I then cut them out and glued them on black construction paper that I cut to the shape of the leather mat that the emblems are affixed to. I'm still experimenting. This last pic is the original on top followed by normal black on white decal paper, then darker black on clear decal, then normal black on foil , and normal black on clear. The door panels to the right are normal clear decal applied to foil. So far the original and white decal are giving a better look. This is the last detail for the interior if I can find something to be happy with. Thanks for the support. Steve

Thank you all for the kind comments. The clamp detail was kind of an afterthought being there are 46 of them. It started with the radiator hoses looking unfinished so I tried bare metal foil. I cut inch long strips the thickness of an exacto blade and they actually stuck. It does take tweezers and a magnifier to apply with a slight overlap and trimming the excess away. The detail looked fine but while I was at it I tried adding the tightening mechanism. I used silver 28 gauge wire cut to about 1/24"-applied a drop of super glue to foil using a random length of the same wire and quickly added the piece. It was all sealed with Testors flat clear acryl because the foil can move while handling. It looked good and wasn't as difficult or frustrating as I thought it would be so I added the detail to the rest of the plumbing. It really helped to finish the look of the intercooler connections and was worth the time. Thanks for following. Steve

The front half of the Gigahorse is done except the exhaust which I will do just before final assembly of the body. It came together nicely and I'm very pleased with the look-so on to the pics. Thanks for looking . Steve

Thanks Alan, it is appreciated. Well my hand is getting too shaky to finish the delicate gluing and fitting of the rest of the plumbing. I did make some good progress so I'll share some new pics. It's coming together nicely and is starting to get very front heavy making for careful handling. I would hate to drop it now!! Thanks for following. Steve
