  1. Could it be a resin kit by Niko?
  2. Tom, may I ask which ship and which kit?
  3. Very nice, Gavin! Good looking model of a good looking car!
  4. Sorry, forgot to quote you so you would see my reply, which is above this post. See, not too bright...lol.
  5. Thanks, Patrick. I'll answer your question but want to give a little "method to my madness". This was going to be a quick, fun, stress free build. Nothing more than a shelf model. For me, these are the types of builds that I will experiment on. If they go South, I don't really mind. Kind of a lesson learned thing. With that being said, I wanted to try UPOL rattle can clear. I did in fact test it first of some spoons I had shot with fingernail polish. The UPOL looked good. To your point about Tamiya TS-13 over their paint, you are right, no issues at all. But I had those big decals and in the past I have had TS-13 mess up my decals. So UPOL it is...lol. I flat out, 100% put the UPOL on too doggone heavy. My brain kept saying stop but my finger would not let off of the nozzle. I've never been accused of being too bright.
  6. All three are gorgeous! It is nice to see them in those particular colors. I mean to say it is nice to see them in something other than red. Very nice job on all three!
  7. I use UpScale Hobbies often, mostly for detail sets and Zero Paint. I was in contact with Chris very recently so yes, he is still in business. I can’t answer as to why you are having trouble getting your kit. I would tend to believe what Chris told you. He is a smaller operation and may not get the same “attention” from distributors as bigger vendors do? Not that this has anything to do with his inventory, it has more to do with communication perhaps. Both Chris and his wife had COVID. His wife was in ICU and fought it for 30 days. Unfortunately she lost her battle. Chris updated the UpScale Hobbies Facebook page regularly. Maybe he didn’t do the same on the .com site. This all happened in the timeframe that you referred to. I know it is frustrating when vendors don’t reply in a timely manner. Hope you get your kit soon.
  8. I was very bad about replying to comments on my van. I just wanted to thank all of you who took the time to leave a comment. I appreciate all of them!
  9. Wow! I like everything about this. Great job. The color and paint job are really nice. My first car had baby moons so I have a soft spot for them.
  10. You just have to love these Tamiya kits! Such a unique subject. I have this one in the stash. As Rich said, seeing yours makes me want to get started on mine. Nice job on this one, Mike!
  11. I’m going to say the same thing as everyone else, great looking model captured in some great photos!
  12. My #210 issue arrived in WV today!!
  13. This is just absolutely gorgeous, Scott! What a clean build. Color, stance and wheels are work so nicely together. Great job!
  14. Thanks, David! The little skeleton came from Gofer Racing. I think the sheet is called Skulls & Skeletons. I thought it would be cool to roll up on this at a stoplight and see the skeleton giving you the peace sign✌️?.
  15. I'll add my Halloween themed group build. The AMT Phantom Van.
  16. What an amazing build!!! There is almost too much to take in but it all flows and ties in together so nicely. I envy guys like you that have such a creative touch. I just don't have that. And then to execute the vision in your mind's eye......wow!
  17. Wow!, that is one great looking Mustang, Tony! Such a cleanly built model. Kind of like what Zippi said, I really never thought to build this one but after seeing your example I may have to go and pick it up.
  18. Good Lord, that thing is gorgeous!! I love it! You did such a nice job on it. That color combination is soooo nice.
  19. She’s a beauty, Mario! I really like that kit. If I remember correctly, it goes together very well with no major issues at all.
  20. I just got done watching a YouTube video on this car. I’m sure there are several out there. This one interviewed folks who worked on the development of the car. I will admit that I had never heard of a Z07 option but there is one!
  21. Regarding the use of primer, Keith has nailed it. You may have perfect body prep but I’ve never been that lucky. Primer really brings out sanding marks, etc. Unless you empty an entire can of primer on your model I seriously doubt that you will completely bury detail under it. Personally, I like to use gray primer for my body work. Depending on the final color I may actually shoot white primer over the gray primer.
  22. Here is my 2021 Halloween themed group build. I have always wanted to build this kit. It is a simple, low detailed, shelf model. I do realize that the driver's sided tires have the tread facing the wrong direction. I will have to fix that. If you would like to see the WIP here is a link: On to the pics.
  23. This is the last update. Even seasoned modelers make dumb mistakes. In the last post I showed the clear right after I shot it. Like an idiot I laid it down to heavily. It bubbled and wrinkled as it cured. I will go ahead and share the photos of how bad it looked. The good news is I was able to save most of the body. The roof could not be totally repaired without actually taking it down to the plastic and redoing it. It was not worth the effort to me. I did not spend much time on the interior as it really can't be seen on the completed model. And here is what a healthy dose of stupidity will get you. I had to do a heck of a lot of work to fix my mistake. I used Micro Mesh cloths and Tamiya polishing compounds to get to this point. I will post the finished model in the Under Glass section. Thanks for taking a look.
  24. For decals, I bought a larger sized 3-ring binder and a bunch of document protectors, (those clear plastic sleeves). I drop my decals in those. My decals are kept in their original package along with that slick paper that comes with them. My hobby room is in the climate controlled basement so light exposure, temp. and humidity are not big concerns. My PE is laid flat in a drawer.
  25. I hear you, Mike. I use Tamiya primer too. I am pretty sure my crazing issue was that I did not wait long enough between coats. This would be the same as putting it on too heavy, I’m guessing. Personally, my biggest issue has been with Zero’s Jet Black. It seems hotter than any other colors I’ve shot so far. I will say that I haven’t shot a ton of different colors yet. I have painted a Hasegawa Porsche 962C in their Pure Brilliant White with no problems whatsoever.
