  1. As with all of my other threads, this one will follow the same format. I am posting work that has been done a while back. In real time, I am further along with the build than what I am posting. Work continues on the body paint. There are a lot of decals which will cover up a lot of painted area. I am not sure if I am going to clear coat this model after I decal it. There are a lot of curves on this Ferrari and you just cannot get into all of the nooks and crannies with your finger tips. I use Tamiya's cotton swabs for getting into all of the hard to reach spots. This is not the final result on the front trunk. More work was done on it. The front fenders also will have more work on them. Finally for today, the lower nose area must be painted red. On the real car, it is bright red. I painted the area white first so that the red would be brighter than if I had painted the red directly of black. Personally, masking is probably my least favorite thing to do.
  2. She looks great, Bo! The nice, clear, uncluttered pictures really show it off. Great looking model of an iconic car!
  3. Ditto. Nice build!
  4. I thought I would share my latest project. This is Fujimi's Ferrari F430 Challenge kit. I fell in love with the livery the moment I saw it. It was not an easy kit to find. It had been out of production when I learned about it. A buddy of mine found it on eBay for me and I hit the "Buy It Now" button immediately...lol. Progress will be slow due to a ridiculous work load at work. I began by working on the body. No complaints on the molding. The entire kit appears to be very well done. I re-scribed all of the panel lines. After shooting the first coat of primer I found a few areas that needed a little more work. Once I was satisfied with the body work, I shot Tamiya gloss black right out of the can. My first attempt left way more orange peel than I am used to. I let the paint cure and I shot several heavier coats right over the top of the previous coats. The paint leveled out nicely, with no runs, but I ended up get a few specks of dust in the paint. I had to polish it out. I will mask off sharp edges to prevent burning through the paint when I polish out the paint.
  5. Now that is just downright cool! Nice execution of a neat idea.
  6. Great looking model, Steve! I like the Red Bull livery. You did a nice job on this.
  7. I agree with Ace. I use it for very small jobs. Not very wide or very deep filling. I have not had any problems when used like this. I should say that I have only used the green stuff.
  8. This happened to me last night while trying to send a couple of PMs. It happened while I was on my laptop. I finally gave up and tried on my cell phone. I had no problems while on my cell. I did not pay attention to the ads, but I do recall seeing the ad that Snake mentioned.
  9. She looks very good for just your second model. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
  10. Welcome, Graham! The title of your post caught my eye. I was stationed at RAF Alconbury & RAF Upwood for three years in the mid 80s. My wife and I made many trips to Peterborough. There was a mall there that we would shop at. We absolutely loved our time in your beautiful country. It is on our bucket list to make it back there.
  11. Man, you knock out some very nice models, Paul. This is just another great example of your skills.
  12. She looks good, Ryan! And so begins the slippery path to 100s of kits waiting to be built, dozens of paint colors on hand, tons of tools, aftermarket parts, etc......
  13. In1984, a buddy of mine and I were stationed in England, RAF Alconbury and RAF Upwood. He brought his red fiero over with him. It was like driving a spaceship though the small towns. That car got a ton of looks. Even had a freelance driver/writer take it on a pretty hard drive. He said kind thigs about it but had hoped it would do more. It really was a fun car to tear around the British country side.
  14. Congratulations! Looks to be a well deserved win. I would be willing to look at a few more pictures, if you have them.
  15. Nice looking model. The paint and stripes came out great!
  16. Very nice start. The paint looks great as does the rest of the model.
  17. Hahaha, I had the same thing happen to me about a month ago. Doing online banking on a Sunday. I was transferring money from one account to the car loan account. I knew there was probably going to be some interest that had accrued but had no way of finding out for sure. Anywho, did the transfer and it showed a $0.00 balance. Next time I logged in I noticed a $0.14 balance. Geez. I had to call the bank and they transferred the remaining 14 cents before I could get my title.
  18. Wow, Axel, great looking model! The photography is just a nice as the model.
  19. This is too cool! I got a good chuckle out of this. You did a nice job on the building of this kit. The racing theme is icing on the cake.
  20. This is a seriously great looking model! Nice job!
  21. Fantastic! 1:43.....wow!
  22. I clean the bench and put away all of the tools, paints, glues, etc. after every build. Once a year, usually after the Annual 24 Hour Build in January, I do a "deep clean" of the hobby room.
  23. I am currently building the #16 car, (the one with Coca-Cola on it). Not being super familiar with this series, I was unsure about one seat or two seats. You just helped answer my question! Thanks! I am doing mine box stock so that I can enter it in that category at upcoming shows. You are doing a really nice job on yours. I'll be following along.
