I think it looks great, Tony. You said you wanted a decent looking "shelfer". Mission accomplished.....(and exceeded).

That is a good looking color. I really like the last picture, the rear 3/4 shot. Good job!

Thank you Richard! That means a lot coming from you. (I seem to remember a BoS for you, not too long ago ). It would have been nice to hit a few shows with you. I have three more shows towards the beginning of 2016 that I would like to go to. Unless I learn of other shows, the car will be retired and given to the man I built it for.

2015 was not my most productive year as far as model building goes. However, on the contest side of things, it was my best year ever! I finished two models this year. As I have told people close to me, I don't mean to appear to be bragging, it is just that I have surpassed anything that I have ever dreamed possible in this hobby that I love. Only my fellow model builders can appreciate the amount of work that goes into a model like this. It is the original issue of Tamiya's 1:12 scale kit. I got serious about showing this car towards the end of 2014 and have showed it throughout 2015. I have hit some small shows as well as some large shows. Judged, NNLs and IPMS. IPMS shows were both open judging, (not judged against other models in class but judged against their criteria...it won a gold medal), and traditional judging, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. It has won 4, (maybe 5....I forgot to mark one trophy), overall Best of Shows, several People's Choice awards including Best of Show and various Best Automotives, several Best Engine awards, 1 Best Paint award, Best British, (IPMS which meant it went up against aircraft, armor, ships, etc) and Best European Automotive and numerous class wins.

Build journal anyone?
Nacho Z replied to Fanof69's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tend to make notes on the kit instructions. If I use a different color or my own mixture, I will write the name of the paint by the part. Not always, just sometimes. On easy, less complicated builds, I do not keep any type of journal. However, I have done one detailed, commissioned build and I kept a journal with the date, time spent and notes of what was done. I am in the process of building the battleship Bismarck, (1:350), with wooden decks and two massive PE/resin/brass detail sets. I am keeping track of all of the things listed above. It is purely to keep an accurate track of how much time I've spent on this project. -
I like this. I would imagine we've all been there at one point or another. Many things that others have said ring true for me. I have all of my models on an Excel spreadsheet. I have had my wife and two kids each pull a single digit number out of a hat and use a combination of those numbers to select my next project. I have seen other modelers builds and used that as inspiration. Sometimes a new kit jumps right to the front of the line.

Whats your work area like?
Nacho Z replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll play. I have posted these before. I am proud of this room because I did all of the work myself. This was a bare, concrete floor, block wall corner of my basement where I first started back in the hobby. I would hang a blanket from the floor joists just to try to keep some heat in my hobby area. Heat in and dryer lint out....lol I made it a hobby room / Earnhardt shrine. I have added a few more kits since these pictures were taken. It is my escape area and I love to spend time down there. -
That is a nice looking Z, Bruce. A real eye catcher!
