Talked with a friend and this is what he had to say on the kit.... "Well, if my old memory serves, it had something to do with the fact that the Pete 359 was built in Newark, California, plus what the one fellow on the MCM board said about the distance between the rear of the cab, the c/l of the 5th wheel and the c/l of the rear wheels (called the 'bogie'). After in-house discussions at AMT and then with Peterbilt, it was decided that the kit would be based on an owner/operator rig rather than a "fleet" tractor. Choosing an owner/operator (over-the-road) tractor meant also considering such things as a sleeper compartment and overall length limits of tractor/trailer combinations allowed on US highways at that time (even for a scale model). That basically determined the dimensions of the "Pete 359 California Hauler" kit. The T-500 kit wasn't just picked out of thin air; it had been researched. In fact, the kit proposal had been rejected by AMT management twice, before finally getting the green light in 1969."

Pretty sure they will be, cuz I don't see them tooling up, two new side cavities just for that, not to mention possible work on the core, to avoid sink marks in those covers, so I'm confident that they will be add on items.

GREAT news, Thanks for sharing James! My grandfather on my mother-side had one, my father drove it once when he and my mom took a little vacation to the seashore (a two hour drive at the time), and he said it was one fast car. Also think Larry Greenberg is about to go nuts when he finds out about this one...;)

Cool, can't wait, thanks for the heads up Mike!

Why invest a ton of money in a vintage tool, when having a newly tooled wire axle snapper in the inventory. Then there's also the competitor from Elk Grove Village, with the late '90s designed full detail kit.... IMHO they should scrap this tired tool, together with those of the '67, 70 & 71-72 GOAT, and invest that in much more viable projects....

Interesting news, had the flip front tow truck as a kid, but never liked that flipping feature.

Moebius - Now that the Comet is out, What's Next
Luc Janssens replied to Swifster's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Talking about AMC's I'd like this one.... But, if they do (very unlikely) they need to add a disclaimer on the box; "potential lethal for little girls, if consuming ice cream" -
Moebius - Now that the Comet is out, What's Next
Luc Janssens replied to Swifster's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For a company like Moebius it wouldn't work indeed, only for a manufacturer who caters the whole spectrum of the model kit market, cuz once the model is in the 3D files, they can adapt it for the various scales and needs, that come with it. -
It sure is a beauty Matt! Still kick myself for not picking up the version with the snow flake wheels, like these a lot.

Can there be too many parts?
Luc Janssens replied to Xingu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My motto is form follows function, which means if a extra part adds value to the model, be it in better detail, ease of assembly for instance for painting, then I'm all for it. But parts just to show off what a manufacturer is capable of, no thanks, cuz then we end up with almost unbuildable kits like the Mirror Models Diamond-T wrecker kit.... -
AMT Mack R model being reissued in 2017
Luc Janssens replied to Ben's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Odd that they needed to restore those fueltanks and spoke wheels, cuz were't they also in the 90's release?(red truck on the box-art cover, with a white one on the side panels) -

Accurate Miniatures NASCAR Taurus test shot.
Luc Janssens replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Approval by the OEM and licensing cost of the product itself. and then you can sell bagged shots, cuz designing decals and box will add costs, not only in the design, but again needs approval and licensing from all the sponsors mentioned.. just sayin' -

Round 2 March 2017 Product Spotlight
Luc Janssens replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
James, I did a lousy job of making my point, which is or should've been, that this "model" seems to do well (not breaking it down in Pro-street or stock version) not questioning it's return, no matter which version. -
Round 2 March 2017 Product Spotlight
Luc Janssens replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The thing I get from this promo clip, is that Mopar B-bodies seem to sell well, cuz this kit has been around the block a few times now. Is it the Coke bottle lines (which mimic the female curves)? -
More on Molotow pens
Luc Janssens replied to smhardesty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I only used the 1mm pen so far, and "chromed" some molded-in the body headlamp buckets with it, and absolutely love it. For the interior details I would like to see a 0,5mm version, and maybe with enough demand and support from the trade, it can happen. So Brett, you know what to do -
