  1. Huh???? Cerberus was the ones who bought out most of GMAC Finacial from GM, but GM still retained a good 41% of GMAC..... Cerberus was basically given controling interest in Chrysler by Daimler, so that Daimler could try to recover themselves in the World Market..... Now that the dust settled a bit with Cerberus getting Chrysler, Cerberus wants to offer them up to GM, for it's remaining shares in GMAC...... Cerberus wants to have full control to do whatever it wants with GMAC, and GM will be able to do whatever it wants with Chrysler(GM and Cerberus won't merge at any point, right now atleast)..... Yes I could see GM wanting the JEEP line, as they have stated that soon enough, the H2's, if not the entire HUMMER line will disappear reguardless.... GM is set to come out with their own version of the JEEP Wrangler, but won't need to if they have the Original line up in the first place..... There has also been plenty of talk within GM, about possibly getting rid of the GMC name brand, but if GM gets the Dodge Truck Line up, GM would have a bigger piece of the Commercial Utility Truck Market... Therefore, the need to drop GMC would be moot(Commercial Grade Dodge and GMC trucks are geenrally prefered in the Work Market, so GMC would have a good size chunk again).....
  2. The stupid thing is, Chrysler wasn't as bad as the idiots who were running the place after Lee IaCocca left, had thought it was...... Lee's successor was way too premature with listening to Daimler's Group, he panicked, and he jumped the gun with the first viable offer he had.... Daimler's Group was making it seem as if they were doing Chrysler a Favor, and Help lending their repitation in the World Market, to keep Chrysler from going under too bad.... Had Lee's Idiot successor known what was actually going on, he would have seen that Daimler actually needed Chrysler, as much as they needed them.... Chrysler could have actually pulled itself out of the hole, without Daimler, but they needed to make serious changes to get that done, not something Lee's successor had enough Courage to do.... Daimler needed alot of the Newer, and even Older Technology that Chrysler had to offer, to help themselves with their standing in the World Market.... As for the Trade Commission stepping in to intervein, I would doubt that they would in this case, as there really isn't anyone else to do so..... Right now, in our world, GM/FORD/Chrysler are all struggling, more so than the other World Manufacturers. So to keep two companies afloat, the Trade Commission would allow a Consolidation of the two Companies.... Heck if it came down two it, I wouldn't be a bit suprised if the Big# didn't wind up banning together to creat one Consolidated US Manufacturer...... Toyota,Nissan,Kia, and Etc, have all been rumored to be concidering giving up their costly US Plants, to help restabilize their footing in the World Market(They have already ceased their plans of expanding their current plants, or opening new ones, atleast for the next 10-20yrs)..... As for China Owning Us, where have you been, that's not news it's been more of a Reality for the past twenty years..... Ofcourse as of lately, they have been rethinking what they have stake in us, just like the Other Countries we have as investors, as We have been Pulling all of their Economies down with ours B)
  3. Klean Kemp Kustom Mercs guys!!!!
  4. Great Looking Deuce & a Quarter! Bufford's are at the top of my Deuce List! B)
  5. Anybody read this??? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081011/ap_on_...er_merger_talks http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/11/business...amp;oref=slogin Man how weird would it be??? Hmmm a '10 Chevy Challenger
  6. Great Job Jody, Looks Really Good! I would suggest you use security scews/bolts to fasten that down though!! A Buddy of mine did a Nice Kustom Box for his Pop a few years back, and some punks actually unbolted it, and stole it!!! Granted they put his mail in his neighbor's box(Had his monthly check in the pile), but ###### like that ticks me off!!
  7. I'm now 32 as of (oct 7th), and my Father started telling me that I was too old for the Hobby when I was 12..... Oddly enough, it was seeing him and my Mother building and me helping, when they were in their mid- Late 30's and into their 40's, that got me started into the hobby.... Just kindly remind your Parents that there are more Life Threatning,Expensive, and Addictive Hobbies that you could be into(Drugs,Sex,Gambling,Drinking,Theft, and Etc)... Happy Early B-day BTW Mr. O
  8. Thanks Evil..... Would like to add a bit more clarity to yours though(A Very Good Suggestion, that even some of the most experienced will over look at times), as it might come across to some that you are saying to spray verticle right away.... It is true that you are doing verticle in a sence, but what you want to do, is start at the top of the body, and paint the roof from front to back, heading vertically down from which ever side you started with( Ie if you started spraying the body on it's side, with the passenger side at the top position, work front to back, vertically down towards the driver's side or vice versus)... Turning the body to whatever proper side you end up at, continue to spray front to back of the body, progressing down vertically towards the rockers..... Doing this not only allows for the paint to lay evenly, you are also keeping down the possibility of having a run or sag in the finish(Starting from the bottom, and working your way to the top, the finish will be fighting gravity during drying stages, so the end result will generally lead to a Run or a Sag in the finish), unless you were spraying Heavily towards the top...... That tip is not only for a Metallic Finish, but also a good rule of thumb whenever painting any general finishes.... Note: When ever painting a Metallic Finish, you always want to make sure you go in the same direction as the first side(Ie, if you started at the front of the car and worked towards the rear or vice-versus, do the same on the opposite side, otherwise you will have an Non-uniform Metallic Finish...... A traditional Non-Metallic Finish, you can easily get away with going in reverse on the other side, where as a Specialty Finish it will stick out like a sore thumb......
  9. Kool looking Seven! Very Nicely Built
  10. Ehh we all go through times like this with Family or Friends..... Personally, My Father and Grandfather both used to bust my chops about my Models, my Automotive, and Computer Hobbies, as they only saw it as a waste of time and money..... The Annoying thing was, that it was both of them that got me started on Models, and Working on Fullsize Cars/Trucks, along with my Father being the one who bought my first Comp(Vic20 Baby!)..... They always used to hound me about home I could never do any of that to make a Real Living, yet now they always hound me for not actually going into either of those fields(Wanted to be a Model Builder for Movie Sets, I still enjoy working on Fullsizes, and I was fairly talented when it came to learning new Computer Programs, even modifying them... Just got tired of their hassling me).... More than anything, your Mom just cares alot about you, and knows that you'll get along alittle easier in life, as long as you go out & make new friends outside of your Home..... Yep her age is a Factor, so always give her a little bit more understanding, as she is going through alot of changes & fraustrations, so sometimes it is easier for her to vent her difficulties with those that are the closest to her..... For me, a Hobby offers a bit of a Break or Escape from reality, but not everyone will approve or understand such a thing, as it's not something they can easily do, or even know the first thing about how to do..... If you want to offer her a little insight about your Passion, just simply ask her to join you and experience one of your builds.... Most won't understand a Hobby, until they are able to exerience it somewhat, even if it's not to your level of expertise.....
  11. Well said Bill! Kandies and Pearls both benefit from being shot this way, as you stated, to minimize the possibility of Zebra (thick) or Tiger (Thinner) Stripes.... With a True Transparency Kandy or Pearl Kolor, the Base Kolor will give the majority of the effect of the over-all end Kolor, and a Tinted Kandy or Pearl will yield even more of a different effect..... Tips for a Metallic Kolor for those who is interested, a One-Way Direction is preferred when spraying, to help the Flakes lay in one uniform direction (IE only go either Front to back or Back to front, and not back and forth, as that will cause irregularities in light refraction)..
  12. Uh How does that work??? I thought Elvi died or disappeared August 16, 1977??? BTW, I hope you got windows all around, and clear ones at that, or the Kiddies will have a not nice nickname for when they see it....
  13. That was one of my Favorite Mags too, and Miss it alot(I liked CR more than R&C, cause they were open minded to any Kustom despite the year, where as until CR left, R&C snubbed their noses at anyting newer than a '64)! Anyways, I too remember seeing those ads in the back of CR, and R&C, so I'm sure they are still around.... From what I heard though, most of the Original 40's and early 50's Kustom's either had their Glasses V-butted and Silconed if they were drivers, with the "Show Cars" getting the Lexan treatment..... The Kustom Late 40's- Early 50's Chevies,Pontiacs,Buicks,Olds,Cadillacs were the easiest, as the 50's Buicks/Olds/Caddys all recieved one piece curved windshields that adapted fairly easy to the prior two-piece cars(GM's AD Trucks followed suit in '54, and the earlier trucks could be adapted as well).... When GM and Other Manufacturers started offering the One piece windshields and Rear windows in 1950, alot of the Kustomizers quickly adapted them to their cars, especially any new Kustom Chopped Merc... Killer Niner Tom !
  14. NOW THAT'S HOW YA BUILD A SUBIE Fantastic Job
  15. Beach or Under Beach level(IE place where you might need a raft during a nice Storm Gregg) Looks Great Dan, looks like plenty of room for more kits to work on
  16. +1 I will never understand why the BOP's get such neglect, it's not like their styling wasn't their own for sure
  17. Clean Score Ismael I remember getting one of the Factory Mistakes with the Black interior when they first came out, and then later picking up one with the Tan interior like yours..... Both of which are packed away in my stash, and I hope to be able to pull either out to detail it (Add an engine and Trans as well)....
  18. For that combo, I say a black flake would make it really " POP" Now if you still want a black main body, then I would say a silver or a red flake top would really set off the black...
  19. Well there are/were various Fullsize Tractor Manufacturers all over the World, and I got to say that you have done a Nice job with building one Not so much like the Over-done FORDSON Grilles, but alot like my Favorite International/Farmall designs
  20. Looks Amazing Bill To go a bit further with your setup, and to create a Modern Euro Style Lamp Assembly(Earlier Styles didn't have the Lens Fluting, nor the Diamond Reflector Patterns at the back), one could simply drill out the back of the Lens Bucket, and insert a cut-down pin/needle with a silver painted Epoxy ball on the end....
  21. Wow Dats Pimp-Tastic! Huggy called, and the Bear wants his ride back!
  22. Really I always thought it was done to cut down the warm up time the engine needs in the winter Would be Kool to have proper Scale Grilles though John!
  23. Tres Not Even on my IPhone I've gotten Pop Ups from time to time, but that was cause my wifey disabled my Pop Up Blocker for he College Website, and never enabled it afterwards..... Generally they are Win Free This, Congrats You Won That, but Luckily I can make them disappear Got to say, I haven't experience a "Virus" on any of the Sites I visit, since I went MAC 2yrs ago("Knock On My Wooden Head!" ).....
