  1. Ha ha, you're not wrong, Claude! I always thought there was no such thing as "too low", but now, I'm afraid this is a new high in lows for me, heh.
  2. NOOOOICE, Luke. This is a masterclass in Aoshima Grand Champion potential. Taking a great starter kit, cleaning it up, and enhancing it to perfection! Simply stellar.
  3. Hien, DUDE! Look at the sparkle of that blue, just wow! Everything you do slays me! Your trilogy of 64 Galaxies, your Datsun gasser pickup, and others I'm forgetting off the top of my head. So true, many of these kits, including my Gloria, do NOT have chrome bumpers, while on the box art, looks like they could be/should be chrome. I've been watching this guy on Youtube, T Garage (https://www.youtube.com/@t-garage/videos), and he's built squillions of these kits. In some kits, parts are plated, and in others, unplated. Seems kinda random, so I like to watch his videos to know what I can expect when I get mine, heh. You've got quite the squadron of gorgeous Skylines there; a very nice collection that has me peanut butter and jealous! Love your custom exhaust pipes, and your black/grey 2-door is giving me Big Dart Energy! Would love to see more pics of these, if that's OK with you! Beautiful work, Nigel! Your Gloria is soooooo clean, and that body/interior colour combo is sweet! Hope mine turns out half as good as yours! Love your red one, too! This is embarrassing; I forget the name of this one, sorry! Did you camber the front yourself? The stance is killer!
  4. Thank you, Craig! Right you are, and yet I was super surprised, and impressed, how well the 72's nose and hood fit the 70. I had to shim the hood sides, smooth things out a bit, and carry the wraparound bumpers onto the fenders, but wow, it was surprisingly simple work overall! Thank you so much, Alan! I wasn't too sure of originally posting my work, but your encouragement really put me at ease, thank you! Ooooooh, yes, Mario, thank you! I was kinda going for some super aggressive fighter jet bodywork, like if this thing was gonna launch off an aircraft carrier, would it actually fly? Thank you sir; your builds and photography are top-notch! Thank you, Donato! I've never really done anything like this before! At first, I was just gonna build it straight outta the box, but then I was like hmmmm this thing needs dual carbs, and the project just kinda spiraled outta control from there! Thank you all again for your kind words; it really means the world to me, thanks!
  5. Wow wow wow. Instead of working, Imma hafta spend the rest of the day on PlazaJapan. Shopping online is super easy, barely an inconvenience!
  6. Wow, Les, I think I'm in love. I might have to consider YOU to be my new crack dealer, ha ha!
  7. Hello everyone Last summer, I finally finished my 3+ year project of turning MPC's 70 GTO Super Stocker into a Hoonicorn/HotWheels drift machine, and in another thread, @stavanzer wanted to see some extra pics, so I thought it might be OK to just turn this into its own thread. This build was just playing around, trying new things, studying Ken Block's Hoonicorn and a dozen HotWheels cars, and incorporating as many modern design "tropes" as I reasonably could. While I do love the 70 GTO's nose, I've always preferred the 72, and in this case, I wanted headlights. The rear wing is from a radio-controlled toy, and the black hoodscoop is from the MPC 69 Daytona. Everything else is scratchbuilt. Pretty certain the wheels are from Revellogram's Christine pro stock, with trim rings added to the fronts to make 'em deeper for the Round 2 Drag 500s all-around. The "DZ NUTS" letters for the driver name came from the MPC 75 Datsun pickup, and the HOONIGOAT windshield letters came from assorted Revellogram decal sheets. And yes, I cheated on the front suspension track and geometry, heh. Comments/critiques/questions most welcome, thanks!
  8. Hello Phil, et al Apologies for the necropost, just following up to show some fresh pics of my Black Beauty I finished last December. I loved loved loved yours so much, I changed my colour scheme to pay homage to it, with Tamiya TS-42! Thanks for the inspiration; you cats continue to blow me away with your creativity, skill, and vision, thanks!
  9. Right you are, Luke! There are squillions of alternate boxings and series, and I was surprised at just how far back their origins go! I should catalogue all these others, too. These are the 5 GC kits I have at this time, and this weekend, Imma blow my next mortgage payment on a stack of others, heh.
  10. Sick awesome builds, dudes! Gorgeous colours, fade, stance, and slick finishing and paintwork! Now THIS is what I'm talkin' 'bout! Agreed, I'm already addicted to them, and like Pokemon, I gotta catch em all! My friend tells me the "89" series is very hard to get, as they ran them only once. He also tells me the last 4 cars in my post above means "Hi So", as in High Society. Great models; keep 'em coming for inspiration! I'll aim to post my Gloria once it's done, thanks!
  11. Hello everyone I've been into American subjects forever, and recently, a model club friend got me into the Japanese tuner scene; VIP/Bippu, Bosozoku, etc. I've bought a few of these great kits from him, just started a Gloria, and did a deep dive into researching these kits to learn more. Aoshima has released squillions of versions of these kits over the years, and I focused for the sake of simplicity on the series of art cars on white boxes with the freaky type in the background. The insane customization of these kits with unique flares, wheels, tires, spoilers, mirrors, extra grilles and taillight options, neat interior bits, and some with stock options, makes for some insane cool models. I had a blast researching and compiling this ordered list of the many different kits I found. I no doubt missed some, so please do add, and please do post your builds! I love love love these cars, and aim to build at least one each of all the different models! Enjoy!
  12. Yes yes yes! Please bring back the NIGHT PROWLER and THUNDER Z Camaros!
  13. Excellent; will take pics ASAP, thanks!
  14. Great minds think alike. I have an IMEX 58 Caddy, and I'm using TWO Monogram 57 Nomad roofs to extend allllllll the way to the back of the car, while giving it a mild chop. Will post pic(s) if there is interest.
  15. Never got around to buying Revell's infamous 57 Nomad, though I built their mostly similar black hardtop with the C4 wheels in the late 80s. Thanks to you dudes, I'm tempted to buy this thing just to see if I can tame the beast.
  16. Hello Jordan, Adam, I think you're both right! I zoomed into the photo, and it may be a reincarnation of the old "Amigo Pack" kits, with the little dudes inside the box. I'm guessing the area at the top-right is actually a window where the 1:64 will eventually go, though for now it looks like we're just seeing sprues in behind. Thank you both, I hope this makes sense! Looking forward to getting this one!
  17. Thanks, Jordan, for your awesome review and pics! I've never built a diecast kit before, and this looks like a fine one to start with, thanks again!
  18. The 91 S-10 in the upper-right; it looks like it says something something DIE-CAST at the top of the box. Is this going to be a METAL-bodied kit? Hopefully it will be a reissue of this plastic kit!
  19. Agree 128%. These kits were way before my time, and only if/when HPI Guy does an unboxing/build do I get any sense of what is included, and what I might do to put my own spin on it. I very much appreciate Chris' Mooneyes dragster build, and that is one Atlantis model I plan to get. I've not seen anyone review their Yellow Fever Fiat, and I'm somewhat interested in getting that one. In general, I'm very critical of Atlantis' illustrations/paintings, graphic design and box marketing. They need to do a much better job selling to normies, casuals, and the curious. A few years back, a lot of builders were unpleasantly surprised by Atlantis' ex-Revell 57 Caddy, not knowing its super-vintage origins, the fact it had a multi-piece body and plastic tires, or that it was molded in red. Knowing is half the battle.
  20. Super excited to get all 3 of these; great job, cats!
  21. I've not seen Stranger Things, and I'm no BMW expert. When I search for an 83 733 Beemer, I see something that looks quite a bit like Monogram's old 635 CSi. It's a great kit, 75 parts sounds about right, and if they didn't sell it off to Atlantis, that could be the one. Throw in the Group 2 fender flares and rear wing, and it'd be a must-have.
  22. Will do, Brain, thank you! Almost done trimming and gluing all the subassemblies, working on the boom and rigging and stuff out back. I owe you the world for the idea for the snowplow, thanks! I've never weathered anything before, so this should be fun!
  23. Awhile back, Luka Cee deep dived into the 78 - 81 Camaros, comparing several MPC kits to real cars for reference. Worth a look, and should be somewhat relevant for the Monogram and Revell kits, too.
  24. Got mine yesterday, along with the 72 Ranger snowplow. Thanks to you cats, gonna build this wrecker with the plow. It's my first Moebius, and I'm impressed. Finished the engine, now working on the interior. The plan is to paint and weather it, missing hood and headlight, to look like Tow Mater (but sans eyes or teef), and a shiny new yellow plow. Great job, Moebius! Gone git 'er done, good buddy!
