I am soooooo happy this kit is coming out; thank you Round2! I do wonder whether this kit will include the new chrome tree with the improved stock front clip. While it will be cool to build this with the older, smoothed-out headlight/eggcrate bumper clip, it would be even better if we could build it with the improved front clip! Failing that, I might just build mine with the custom grille and taillight treatments! (screencaps courtesy of HPI Guy's 442 Hardtop vid)

1975 Ford Custom 500 2-Door Pillared Hardtop Resin Master
Stef replied to Mike Slapattack's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Agreed 128%; you're inspiring me to try something similar. Now I just gotta look through the stash and find a couple fresh victims, heh. -
1975 Ford Custom 500 2-Door Pillared Hardtop Resin Master
Stef replied to Mike Slapattack's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow, Mike, this is even more hardcore than I'd realized! Such precision and meticulous attention to detail. Can't wait to see this make progress, and I might even be first in line to snatch up one of your resin copies. I too love 70s land yachts. Ahoy, mateys! -
Nice build, Racine, a very rare subject that we seldom see built. One as lovingly crafted as yours shows a fine appreciation of, and respect for, the original cars. I butchered this kit as a kid, and I was very fortunate to have found another awhile back. This time, a little less appreciation and respect, and a little more mild tuner!

AMT DOUBLE DRAGSTER SET! Twin Blown Rail AND Injected Fiat Altered.
Stef replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in Drag Racing
Fantastic rebuilds, Dennis! I picked up this exact kit this weekend, and now, thanks to you, I MUST build the tandem rail in yellow with black and miles of chrome. And your Fiat matches its intensity. Copying you would be a crime, so I'll have to put my own spin on these beauties. Particularly loving your downturned headers; very clever, and looks devastatingly more menacing. Thank you for your insane inspiration! -
You might be right, Andy. I do believe I held the box in my hand at my LHS a few years back. Pretty sure I saw an illustration of a stock Monza on the side. Found this pic just now of what I think is the box bottom. Looks like custom and stock wheels, multiple fascias, etc. are included. Hope this helps, thanks!

Right you are, Robert! It truly is crude and rough, for sure. Me personally, I'd love to take a crack at it again, warts and all, as I'd butchered one back in the day. Maybe I'd try to marry the Capri-specific elements to an MPC Mustang body, blister the fenders, play around, and see what I can come up with. I'm curious, anyone know of any aftermarket solutions for converting either the MPC or Monogram Fox bodies?

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, Dean! A lotta dudes here are bursting with design and engineering concepts that rival the best of what the global auto makers have to offer! And wow, you're right about the GT. Very nice. I'm no expert on McLarens, though I can see considerable DNA shared between the GT and Senna. We Corvette aficionados will restyle the C8 to respect its past, while pushing it into the future. It will appeal to little boys, and big boys, alike, heh.

Moebius Dually rears & other bitz now available
Stef replied to Erik Solie's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
You are a demigod, Brian! I should've gone back to the thread to cite you by name. In the coming months, there's gonna be a whole lotta Moebius snowplow wreckers on the contest tables, and we'll all have you to thank! -
Dude, you are blowing my mind! Thanks for the tips! By the time this is over, you, me, and everyone else are going to build so many 64 Galaxies, Round 2 is gonna need to double their next run! And if you were to start a 64 Galaxie thread, you might just break the internet, heh.

Moebius Dually rears & other bitz now available
Stef replied to Erik Solie's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
This is awesome; thank you, Erik! In the Moebius wrecker thread, someone suggested adding a snowplow to the front, and many of us were like YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS While I'm prepared to buy both the wrecker AND the 72 Ranger with snowplow, this is an economical solution that will leave us with enough cash to purchase another Moebius truck kit! -
Yes yes yes 128% yes, Harry! I don't think Revell sold their OG fox body to Atlantis, so hopefully this one is still around in the archives!
-
Awwww yisssssss, Hien! Right you are! I've never built a 64 yet, and it's a simple enough and highly versatile kit, that making a whole fleet/squadron/battalion of 'em all at once would be a really fun project! There's a model show/contest coming up in my area in a few weeks; I'll have to snatch up all the 64s I can find! I've never built multiples of a kit at once, or in rapid succession, before. Thank you, dude, for such an awesome idea. You've inspired me! Dis Gon B Gud.

GALAXIE QUEST: Amazing collection, Hien. I recently got a 64, and was leaning towards doing it in a murdered-out NASCAR version, very similar to yours. Now, I have a couple more awesome options to consider. Smooth lowrider. Ballsy AWB gasser. Can't decide which, so imma hafta get two more 64s and build all three!

Oh yes, a lot of us keep mentioning the MPC Monza; that makes me happy that I'm not the only one! I do hope it can return. IIRC, the yellow "Pro Street" version was the last one, dated 1984. I butchered it and "Hot Streak" back in the day, heh. The AMT Monza came out a few years ago in a flat box, I believe. I missed that one; was holding out for the MPC version. Let's hope!

The Stealth is a very nice kit, I built one in the mid-late 90s; red car on the box. It paired nicely alongside my Revellogram Viper. Would be nice to build this one again.
-
Agreed 128%, Jon. I watched a couple Dajiban docs a few years ago, and made my own, kinda sorta, using Round 2's then-new Bad Company reissue. Dodge vans rock, and I'd happily buy a kit of one of these newer 2003-ish vans and properly rice it out. And I'd happily buy a kit of an older 1976-ish van, and shag it out, baby.

Agreed, Phil! You can take a club of 40 dudes, and each one will take the same 32 Ford and take it in a totally new, different, and unexpected direction. A bunch of guys in my club bought Black Beautys, and it's exciting to see what they're going to do with 'em. One guy started opening his hood, with plans to drop a 440 in there, heh.

Hello Harry, the new box art side seems to show two 4-banger setups. Maybe these are 87 and 88 versions you're looking for?
-
Thank you very much Phil, I'm honoured! I had already cut away my rear skirts well before seeing your solution, and I love yours better. Once carved out, those rear wheelwells are cavernous, and I think the Revell Concept Camaro tires and wheel rings I'm using are just a pinch too small for the rear openings. Your wheels/openings, to my eye, have a flawless balance and "weight". Ingenious solution; wish I'd have thought of that! Apologies for any hijack; intended only as a sincere and timely inspiration to influence my current build, thanks!

I remember the ex-Polar Lights 65 Coronet snapper AMT released a few years back, as built by HPIGuy, 4+ years ago. Pretty sure there was a thread here about this kit, too. While I don't remember specific comments regarding the taillights, here is a screencap of the taillights in that particular kit. Full build here, for context:

Love what you've done, @fordf-100. Sick stance, colour, wheels, and overall sinister vibe. I've been working on mine off-and-on since Christmas, and I'm finally getting close to primer. While I had my heart set on flat black, you're enticing me to duplicate your colour scheme.
-
At the risk of derailing the thread; I wonder, does anyone know why most cars, it seems, use flush or near-flush wheel designs? Me personally, I love love love deep dish designs. I like deep wheels on massive wide Firestone 500 drag slicks and stuff like that. It seems like automakers these days WANT their customers to curb rash their rims. To me, many modern wheels look shallow, anemic, and weak, like cheap plastic hubcaps. On most of my builds, I make the wheels stupid deep by offsetting them with makeshift trim rings. IMHO, nearly any wheel looks better when it's deep, but that's just me. Thoughts? (Hoonigoat build by me)
