International F- 2674 w/Montone dump body
vincen47 replied to Mopar - D's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That’s a great looking truck, and I love the “family photos” of the whole fleet. I’m especially impressed with the finish on the dump bed. I wouldn’t have guessed it was a Krylon rattle can from HL - ya learn something new everyday. -
Moebius International ProStar
vincen47 replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Excellent build. Great color choice. It really pops. I like the dirt on the tires. It’s a great-looking model, even being box stock, though I bet you could easily customize the Prostar. On this kit, box stock is no small feat, in itself. Speaking of which, have you made any progress on the Aeromax RV hauler? -
Ford C800 Gar-Wood Load Packer. It's Happening!
vincen47 replied to chuckyr's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I agree, the Ford C-series is a logical pairing with the Garwood 700 series. It would have been a typical 1:1 chassis for it, during the early 70’s. Not sure how popular the gas v8’s were, the ones I’ve been able to find online are diesels, but I’m sure they existed. The kit’s Garwood body is not like the typical larger capacity body seen in the decades since, built on a bigger truck chassis. The Ford Louisville might be another choice, but I’m thinking I may look for a early or mid 70’s Chevy or GMC medium duty conventional to pair it with, along with a big block v8. -
Ford C800 Gar-Wood Load Packer. It's Happening!
vincen47 replied to chuckyr's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I’m getting more and more excited as I look up info on this kit and videos of old Garwood Load-Packers still in service today. As I’ve looked up more info on the AMT Ford C-Series, I see that though Round 2 may label this as a C600 or C900, (Not sure what they’ll do yet) Chuck is correct to label the post as a C800, as that’s the emblem on the cab. It seems though, that people have said that the 534 V8 was only available on the C900, but the kit’s rear axle is modeled from a C600. So, I suppose, if the builder was to make modifications, the kit could be made into just about any of the C-Series trucks. Either way, I’m looking forward to it. And yeah, I know it’s a garbage truck, but it’s cool. -

I’m pleased to see it happen. The body could find its way onto other trucks, too. -
Meng F350 super duty
vincen47 replied to Madd Trucker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Would these BNL Resin Wheels be correct? My guess is no, but thought I’d check. There’s no description in the listing. Scenes Unlimited offers quite a few sets, too. Might be something there that might be correct. I know he offers correct Alcoa-style wheels if you’re doing a dually conversion. -
You’ve got my attention. Any more info on who’s making it? I’m not on Facebook, but often, I can still visit the pages, or possibly contact them another way.

Meng F350 super duty

Excellent info, Casey. I stand corrected on the displacement. 6.4L it is, forgot Navistar provided the engine before Ford made the 6.7L. -

Engine is the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V8. To be really picky, the exhaust is technically incorrect in the kit, they did the system for the gas V10. -
Spread Axle Trailer
vincen47 replied to Cat Racer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Common spreads include 8’, 9’, and 10’, give or take a few inches. So, the 97” and 122” would both work fine. I’ve seen a lot of 10’ 6” spreads, or 5.04” in 1/25 (5” basically). This seems to be the standard. I think the 41’ measurement is from the kingpin to the first rear axle, and on a 53’ trailer, that sounds right for a spread axle. For whichever measurement you want to try, mock up what that would look like, and see how you like it. Something you could check out is the length/axle laws for your state, (sounds like you already have) if you’re looking to replicate something plausible for your 1/25 highways. -
True, both Revell 359’s are 119” hoods. The only current resin 127” hood offering I know of is from Gary Wallace at GW trucks. He lists it as for the snap kit, but maybe it could be adapted for the other one. No website, but he takes orders via email gwtrucks@yahoo.com

Trumpeter 1/200 scale "Titanic" model ship..
vincen47 replied to Deuces ll's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The Titanic has been a lifelong subject of interest. I had just started kindergarten when the wreck was discovered, and I remember the fascination taking hold. I have this kit, and I’m in the process of amassing the detail upgrade kits and parts from various sources. It has already taken a huge amount of research and materials thus far. In the end, many years from today, it’ll probably be the most expensive and time consuming single hobby project I’ll ever take on - but, hopefully, the most rewarding. -
That’s a kit I don’t have, but I seem to remember somebody making a correct one (P&P?), but I don’t remember what the issue was with the kit dash. I wish I was more help.

That’s a beautiful truck, love that paint!

I like the color, and that’s right, it does look like an ex-Forestry Service truck. Excellent all around. -
A&N Truck Model Volvo D-13 truck engine

That’s definitely on my “to buy” list. Nice to have another option for a modern engine. Perfect for a VN780 I have. -
The decals look very nice. Be sure to post the project as it comes together.
