What car is this ?
ChrisBcritter replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
From Father Knows Best, season 4, episode 11. Clear shot on IMCDb: http://imcdb.org/vehicle_435109-Siata-208S-Spyder.html History of one particular car; some good restoration photos: http://www.automotiverestorations.com/siata-208s Somewhere in my stash I have the December '68 issue of Rod & Custom showing it getting a Chevy V8 transplant for singer Barry McGuire. -
Coca Cola Kits ?
ChrisBcritter replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I knew the term "Opel Blitz" would be coming soon - many many builders have used that chassis, but the wheels and military tires just aren't right - and I'd like to think Round2 would rather put my money in their kangaroo's pouch than see it go to Italeri or the aftermarket. Plus they can sell the wheels and tires as a parts pack, and they could get as many variations on that cab-and-chassis unit as Moebius does on their Ford pickups. Can't hurt to suggest it. -

Ha! Motor Trend had the same sentiment when the car was new: "...fender skirts? Oh, come now!"

Coca Cola Kits ?

And a similar suggestion to the struggling Heller: This'll help get your Renault Estafette off the ground. -
Coca Cola Kits ?
ChrisBcritter replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Speaking of "the real thing", a suggestion for Round2/AMT: Put your money where your mouth is and tool up a REAL delivery body and chassis for one of your existing truck kits (yes, including those wheels/tires): The Coca-Collectors would buy plenty of them, and so would the rest of us builders, many of whom would toss the delivery part and build various haulers. Consider the gauntlet thrown. -

How high will it go?
ChrisBcritter replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That '62 Dodge keeps whispering to me, even though (other than the wheelcovers) it'd come out looking like a clunker next to the Jo-Han kit. Oh well, I have my beady eyes on something else this week... -

Let's see, take the tractor from the MPC Indy car kit, and the forks and wheel from the Monogram Cherry Bomb, scratchbuild the blade/chute, and...

And I'd be really excited about™ it. I freeze-framed the box-bottom shot at 1080p and... yep, they're molded in again - no stock lights on the clear red tree. Give 'em brownie points for tooling a new firewall with a separate master cylinder, at least, rather than tossing in the one from the '64 Impala.

Flocking questions
ChrisBcritter replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Interesting. What brand is it? Is it available in the USA? -
“Styrene” Not what it used to be.

Some of my old rebuilders were put together with Ambroid cement - that stuff seems to come off pretty easily, thank goodness. -

Forgot to mention: An accurate "Slim Jim" Roto Hydramatic transmission for the Moebius '61 Catalina/Ventura, the AMT '62 Catalina, and even for a couple vintage kits - the Jo-Han '63 Starfire and AMT '64 Grand Prix. (Chief Joseph, if you decide to take this on, please put me down for four of them!) Also these Olds/Buick steelies from the '50s/'60s: Lots of low-budget drag racers used them along with the Olds rear end; even the '55 Chevy rollover stunt car in American Graffiti had them:

Don't care how nice looking he is, as long as the wheels are OK. (Sorry, it was just too good to pass up!)
