Italeri Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spyder 1600
ChrisBcritter replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Ouch. I was eyeing one of those at DuPage ; now I'm glad I passed. -
Just got back from the DuPage show; picked up mostly parts - some glass trees with headlight lenses, a couple aftermarket-style air cleaners, pre-wired distributors and a couple Fireball Motorworks Chevy Q-jet carbs. I also got another nice clean AMT Craftsman '57 T-bird; molded in light blue and to my surprise thoroughly stuck together with about a tablespoon of silicone . This was taken after I cleaned all that stuff out and added a Craftsman top from my stash, then cleaned up the flash and mold lines, and made a bunch of little trims here and there to get the top to sit more or less correctly. A fun afternoon's work!

Yes, but... ITC made a '51 convertible in the early '60s with awful body proportions; however the grille, bumpers, dash, and taillight trim pieces are salvageable. Modelhaus made a couple '51s and a conversion kit, but they're tough to find now. Any others from the brain trust here?

The Deluxe emblem and V8 badge on the front fender were '51-only items, along with the chrome spears on the rear quarters extending to the taillights. Also the '51 Deluxe (base model) had no side trim; all '49s, '50s and '51 Customs had it. Brochure page from the Old Car Manual Project:

Just Sump'un I Had to Try
ChrisBcritter replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've done it on a few of mine; not easy but not impossible. A few certain FoMoCos with scooped-out areas below the handle have been an extra challenge to smooth out ('61 Ford and '62 Mercury in particular). -

One thing that hasn't been pointed out: the car in this picture is a '51 Ford Deluxe Tudor Sedan - if this was taken in 1950 it would have been late in the year at least.

I'd say what I think of it but I've worn out my thesaurus looking for variations on "superlative"!

At the LMMCC meeting last night, the raffle netted me a Page Resin chopped '69 Nova drag body: Not sure what to do with it yet.

A long overdue update...
ChrisBcritter replied to Shelby 427 1965's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi, Tomo - good to see you back and doing well. If you're going to amass a collection, maybe start looking into commercial real estate; find a warehouse property you can put the cars in and rent out the rest of the space to other collectors = win/win. Happy motoring! -

Not sure; I found the photo on eBay years ago. I used it to get the size and shape of the license plate opening and the position of the seams: -

Good find! That '60 kit has a couple problems from the factory; only the Windsor grille is flush with the surround, and the front bumper is missing the indent for the license plate: The Modelhaus made a corrected New Yorker grille, but good luck finding one now. -

The '60 Vette showed up today - original issue as described with the working suspension; windshield and hardtop rear window have deep tire marks so I'll be looking for replacements.

Interesting that the radiator and firewall aren't clones of the originals. -
64 Galaxie hub caps
ChrisBcritter replied to br67's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They're in the Revell 2-in-1 '64 Fairlane, the Trumpeter '65 Ranchero, and in the Moebius '65 Ford F-100 Service Truck. -
As for me, I picked up three little long-tail Powerglides from Shapeways: The pans seem a bit deeper than stock (?) but I'm happy with them. Also have another '63 Pontiac rear bumper on the way; now if I could JUST get a couple driver's side taillights (that eBay seller sent me four passenger side units; I returned all four but they never refunded my money).
