  1. Used to have a couple old reel-to-reel units (V-M and Akai) and picked up tapes from estate sales and thrift stores. One almost great find I made was audio of a Hanna-Barbera sales meeting introducing Top Cat to potential sponsors; unfortunately the tape had been affected by a magnet (bulk eraser?) and only every fourth word was audible What I really wanted was a TEAC Syncaset that would let me record two separate tracks (overdubs) on a cassette; wanted to do some audio montages. Way too expensive for me. Now I have SoundForge for that...
  2. I remember the thread from when the resin '11 Chevy was offered; I mentioned back then that the wheels weren't correct but the ones from the Stutz could fix that. When you look at photos of the real car, it's apparent that the AMT kit wasn't that great a replica anyway; besides the wheels, the radiator shape was way off: Of course, it was probably banged out in a hurry for a one-and-done issue, so perfection wasn't expected.
  3. Fine by me - I'd like to get one more original Nova wagon interior before my fellow detail freaks drive the prices back up .
  4. Closest you'll probably find are either the wire wheel covers from the AMT '66 Olds 442 convertible, or the ones from the Polar Lights '64 GTO.
  5. "Good news!" "What?" "The Yucca Valley Walmart still has no models!" "Great! Now moving on..."
  6. No you don't. It was Superman II, The Richard Donner Cut per IMCDb. Another 1/8 '32 shows up in the amusement park in 1941:
  7. Once while channel surfing, I caught a scene from a Mexican or South American drama in which a gentleman was playing with a remote control Porsche 356. Another guy, apparently the villain, enters and says, "Do you remember when I smashed your toys when we were kids?" and starts to stomp on the car. Just as his foot hits it, the first man pushes a button on the remote, and the Porsche explodes, blowing the bad guy to bits.
  8. I'm surprised it isn't painted red like in the comic books!
  9. Boo who?
  10. The first one used a 1/8 '65 Vette in a scene where it was doubling for a full-size '75 Firebird crashing into a school bus, along with another Corvette and a Jag XKE: (image via IMCDb)
  11. Also - not spotted today, but from back in June; just finally got around to downloading it. '59 Chevy Biscayne in Northbrook, IL:
  12. A few items from my trip to Oregon last week. Willys Aero at a little hot rod shop in Madras: A few blocks away, at the Madras Air Museum (Erickson Collection): On Highway 97 southbound; someone had a very bad day at the dragstrip in this '34 3-window: Finally, I "spot"-ted this in Boron, CA:
  13. I remember one of the buses we rode in as kids had a Dymo label stuck on the dash reading "NO DOUBLE CLUTCHING".
  14. Got that '62 Chrysler hood today - inside the box, it was wrapped with several feet of toilet paper . And it was two-ply!
  15. Here's an example dated 1965, from a batch of slides I got at an estate sale. Engine looks like dual carb Studebaker; good luck IDing the rest:
  16. Well, that's one way to fix the problem with the roof...
  17. "Give the TV a rest." After my granddad's nice big color TV caught fire and burned up his living room, I had no trouble obeying that rule!
