  1. I just realized the PB police caught me too..I'll update the first couple posts
  2. Well guys, I'm happy to say its DONE !! Enjoy the pics ! This model built so well, it really shows how poorly others can be ! I'll definitely pick another one up later on . oh and what its store for this build ? This truck is already been put to work hauling a Rogers low boy I've been scratch building ! look for that soon !!! thanks everyone for their comments..we're off to the under glass section
  3. LMAO !!! I may have to try another after this one ..there is that R model lurking
  4. Thanks Gator ! figuring out the technigue is usually tougher than actually doing it ! My Eclipse airbrush makes it a simple job too
  5. now the fun begins..installing all the chrome and finishing the build ! First up had to be the grill
  6. I masked the stripes w auto pin stripe tape since cutting even stripes wasn't happening ! The tape is super flexible and thin, took several minutes to mask everything then uncover the blue area before painting. once I was happy with them , I sprayed several coats of clear to make it shine .
  7. Thanks !! I wanted someting different than the box art, and didnt have anything blue on the shelf !!
  8. Speechless ! Absolutely stunning work .
  9. All the pics at the start of your post show up for me , glad you found a new host and continue this build! !
  10. ever wonder what happens when ya soak chrome parts in super clean?? I dunked a few parts in an empty baby food jar and watched the coating literally fizzle away in seconds pretty neat !! enough destruction..onto the fun part ..masking for the stripe ! masking both sides evenly and around those lights ? on the front end were a challenge. the end result ?? I stuck the grill on just for visual impact ! I still have to fix several areas were the lousy masking job allowed paint to seep under, but nothing a little elbow grease wont fix..like the paint edge ! anyone have advice how to mask those thin pinstripes ? I suppose cutting narrow strips of tape and methodically masking them might work..but that'd take hrs! while the cab dried, I sprayed the wheels polished aluminum alclad cause the kit chrome looked toy like imo any criticism or comments welcome !
  11. Thanks Kerry !!! luckily we didn't get more than a wet floor, several friends were flooded out requiring their utilities turned off for safety. Ok..boy do I have a few pics to catch everyone up on !! The Detroit..red??? was painted and bolted in , the cab was prepped for the stripe, and oh boy the chrome trees were stripped of their vintage coating and painted more appropriate colors !..enoy the pics! I ground out the rear of the rims to open up the cooling holes for detail theres more coming stand by !!
  12. Great start ! Awesome work on the injection lines also
  13. If your looking for something more modern than the Challenger mixer offered thru aitm, dave also has the mtm mcneilus mixer available. You have to ask for it and understand there's no instructions yet, but it's well worth the money having a modern mixer. I've purchased 2 of them and been very happy . I recently finished one in the cranesville paystar scheme
  14. Ok looks like I'm too late to vote I'm on the bandwagon with the slots too lol
  15. Awesome work love watching your builds come together
  16. Hey Kerry, youll have to post pics of the 41 COE when ya get time, I really like the older coe trucks. Been seriously thinking about building the GMC Crackerbox aitm sells, can't tell ya what it is about that cab, just know I'd love one in the collection
  17. Thanks for the heads up !!I noticed last night about 3 hrs later it still felt like low tack tape vs tamiya usually seemed cured. I attributed it to the high humidity, but sounds like a trait of this paint.
  18. Heres my first try at sorting out the PB freedom ..moved my "prized" photos over to the flickr I sprayed the first of two colors, a very high metallic platinum from testors line the first coat ..note the new water feature in the backyard we have after the recent flooding lol then I rushed and sprayed a couple coats of ultra gloss clear..came out blotchy but wil level out and be polished after the blue stripe anyway We had a huge storm dumping tons of rain on our town, makes for an usual shot in the background, glad the cuttty in on high ground !!!
  19. thanks joe..so since I'm barely computer literate, if I type the img before and at the end ofpasting the image from Flickr everything should work? I thought before using fotki there was a different icon we used to attach the pics. Hoped this was similar.
  20. LOL thanks Kerry !! I have the next 4 day off so this will certainly get plenty of attention All the chrome was scratched in the package so I decided to send the chrome trees into the "pond"for an overnight soak. I hit a snag when it dawned on me that I used up all the gloss black base. Sounds like a trip to lhs for supplies ! Those fine pinstripes are gonna test my skills to mask and airbrush
  21. fail no pic must be missing something..
  22. test.. https://www.flickr.com/photos/156194756@N07/shares/8rV8P7
  23. I agree gator everyone seems to like the IH trucks , but no rumors about re issues. Maybe someone who attends the larger shows can chat up the manufacturer and convince them to ! thanks ! If the enamel ever dries I can start detailing
