The Brockway mixer is a tribute to the retired B&D fleet in the southern tier , thats since been sold off for scrap . These trucks were a common sight hauling loads around the southern tier, and the siren song of their 6-71s filling the air . The shop typically made modifications to every truck and I tried to capture them on this build . The main build focused around a 361 cab and Rex 770 from AITM. B& D trucks had custom built " pit fenders " so I ordered them from Dave too. Their rear fenders were commonly backwards, and up front they always had a logging chain welded to the front springs for yanking them free if mired on job sites . I cut the kit hood free and formed a metal one from K&s tin hinging it to show off the 6-71 from gw trucks . Paint is rusto sunrise red & JD green . Decals were printed by Joseph Schultz of diecast & decals . Weathering w actual concrete powder . any feedback welcome!

The mixer is finished ! I added a few details , mud flaps w logos on computer paper then snapped some photos Enjoy ladder braces were added I forgot about earlier Extra chutes w a flash rusting ..just mig powders over steel paint for effect Thanks to everyone following my build Jeff

Plenty of time still , we have till Dec 31 ! Waiting on parts and supplies has really plagued everyone this yr . I really need to restock paint rack , getting hard to find

I couldn't wait any longer ..tossed the wheels under it and made a roller ..the wheels are painted to match the body. Started the bmf trim too..knowing this would slow me down Thanks for following our builds !

Nice color combo ! It's a great fitting kit

I really wanted to accent the weld lines on barrel drum, and show off a few details w a concrete " wash" . Thinking about it now..spraying a matt finish before the bird attack would've reduced a step.

Weird the only photos I took before making a complete mess..usually I take dozens lol The clean side before adding the brockway hood emblems . And the intake plumbing done before vmf clamps were attached The crud definitely looks awful, but cleans off leaving a cool dusty vibe . I'm not planning a trashed out mixer , more of the usual dust and concrete droppings building up on a working truck

Today I started adding the cement crud around the mixer . Using concrete patcher powder w water works okay..would rather use the bag mix stuff . Ill wipe off the excess , then add the few decals , then spray a dull sealer . Getting to the point of wanting this done , the squirrels are starting to find other projects for me ...sounds like another snow mover !

Nice work grafting the ht onto the convertible body ! We sold our 71 cutlass convertible this spring, looking forward to your progress
