  1. I usually touch the brush some place that's going to be covered by another part, or some spot that isn't going to show on the finished model. It also helps not to overload the brush, and to keep you fingers off the seam while you're applying glue. In any case, the seam is probably going to have to be sanded anyhow.
  2. I think the blue seat is from the Revell '29 pickup.
  3. I get that. I try to get donor kits with multiple options, so they can provide material for 2- other kits.
  4. And we have had Humbrol paints for the longest time when the Americans couldn't get them, though lately, those have been harder to get.
  5. On the other hand, the Round 2 kits i've been looking forward to, still haven't hit the shelves of the stores here, so I guess it all balances out.
  6. And yes, have a backup too. Fortunately, backup drives are cheap now.
  7. I checked the website for Model Land here in Calgary, and they have Revell paints in stock.
  8. And yet, some boring vanilla sedan from the same era is usually hailed as a potential best seller. Personally, I'd buy that Offy roadster long before I'd even think of shelling out for a Nova station wagon.
  9. I like paper too, but not that much. Looking at the stacks of magazines that I have accumulated, the minimal space that digital media takes up looks increasingly attractive. And yes, nothng is permanent on the internet. This is why you save the stuff you want to keep on your own computer.
  10. I buy kits that I don't even particularly like, because they have good kitbashing parts. A bad addiction? If this is wrong, then I don't want to be right.
  11. Neat! It looks like it came out of an Arthur Radebaugh painting. Thanks for sharing!
  12. That's the first time I've ever seen anyone point that one. You never stop learning, I guess.
  13. It's like any other thing, some kits are better than others. The Aurora 1/32 Porsche and Ferrari bodies were a pain because the parts didn't quite fit, and I was young, and didn't know what I was doing. The Italeri Rolls and Cadillac went together fairly painlessly.
  14. Nice work on the exhaust.
  15. Thinking back on all the sink marks I've had to fill over the years, I'm actually pretty impressed that they think this needs correcting.
  16. An aside about the ZZR. The movie it was built for, "Out of Sight" is on Youtube, and in the opening credits is what's either the Dick Flint roadster, or a close copy. There's also a cameo by the quadruple Allison engined Quad Al.
  17. You're definitely overcomplicating it. The time it takes to type "surfboard" into Google with give you all the reference material on surfboards that you could want. And if you're scrounging them off model kits, you're probably not that picky about the subtle differences between board styles anyhow.
  18. It can't be that hard to take some sandpaper to a piece of sandpaper to a piece of styrene and make your own.
  19. Or worse, you find it by the telltale crunch when you roll you chair over it.
  20. I already have a Monogram Mack on my build pile, but that Buick is one of my favourite '50s American cars. and it beats waiting around for someone to release one in 1/24-5
  21. Road & Track, Motor Trend and Rod&Custom were the magazines were the magazines I purchased regularly when I was young, and R&T was my favourite of the three, especially when they still did the Salon feature. I'm okay with some style, just so long at it isn't at the expense of content, which more than a few magazine publishers fail to get. A regular birthday present from my folks was renewing my Automobile Quarterly subscription. Those were a thing of beauty, as wel as a gold mine of automotive history, and I devoured them almost as much for what they did with layout as for the content.
  22. The last time I checked out an issue of Road & Track on the newstand I was unimpressed by how little content I was getting for the cover price. I like the look and feel of print media, but there's a limit to how much you can rely on that.
  23. Feel free to hijack threads with nice Italian coachwork anytime. I find the Leowy Jag more infuriating than anything because there are parts of it that work, parts that don't, and parts that I'm not sure whether they do or not..Love it or hate it, you sure can't ignore it.
