  1. Thanks David. I've followed your builds and dioramas for some time, as well as your current WIP. I may ask you for one of those engines if you're willing to let one go.
  2. Yes, the front door will be extended rearward. Fortunately the wheelbase can go unchanged. According to my research, the drophead wheelbase is about 127 inches, or 3226 mm. My measurement for the 1/24 scale model is 128.35 mm, which would be 3081 mm in 1:1. So I'll be a bit short but close enough for me, and I think visually it should be ok.
  3. After reading Tomy124's post asking for ideas on making convertible boots, I was motivated to start a project I've been thinking about for a very long time (as if I don't have way too much on my plate already). I don't post WIPs very often because I can be an extremely slow builder, and many times when I get into a groove, I fail to stop and take pictures. Hopefully this will help me stay focused and get it done. This is the kit I built many years ago. This is what I'm aiming for: And this is where I am so far: It was a bit painful cutting her up, but hopefully it will be worth it. My hesitation has been how to make the boot, so we'll see what happens.
  4. Maybe Tamiya TS-74 Clear Red, over TS-33 Dull Red, then several coats of clear, sand if needed, and polish. Or a blue or purple base coat, Italian Red, Clear Red, and clear coat.
  5. From what I've heard from an attendee, and seen on YouTube, Gatlinburg 2025 was beyond insane. I believe the problem with the new car culture is a combination of things, one being the number of people who attend these events that are not really car enthusiasts. So many just want to be out in the crowd with the noise and excitement. Everyone is recording video to get clicks and likes on their social media pages because to them, that is important. So of course those with the cars want to give them something to record. It's as if going to these 'meets' has taken the place of going to nightclubs and parties. The street is the club and the screeching tires, and reving engines are the music. For decades, I've heard the phrase "the dumbing down of America", and it has become prevalent in our younger generations. Not all of course, but for a significant number. Along with the dumbness comes an increasing amount of lack of respect for others. Case in point, the street take overs, where crowds of kids will block intersections and impede people's travel to watch other kids do donuts and such in the street. No concern for the safety and well being of their fellow citizens or even themselves. But if it gets them more content, more 'followers' and 'friends' it's all good. And the car culture gets dragged into this behavior. Perhaps some type of conscription might be a good idea, because at the rate we're going...
  6. Good question. I've been wanting to convert the Entex Rolls into a drophead coupe for years. The hold up has been trying to figure out how to replicate the boot.
  7. There's a set on ebay listed as: 🌟"Dagmars" Bumper Bullets 1953 Ford F100 1:25 Scl 1000s Model Car Parts 4 Sale. The AMT 1949 Mercury has a custom grill bar as well.
  8. I've been using microsofts 3d Builder for things like this. I'll make the hole slightly larger than I need. If I need a 2mm hole, I'll make it 2.5mm or so. Then I'll send it through the slicer.
  9. Very nicely built and detailed. And those fans...!
  10. Good looking Buick. I see a few more A Bodies waiting patiently on the bench.
  11. Excellent! Sometimes I like these '41's, sometimes I don't. This time I do.
  12. There's a couple of sellers on ebay, TOMMIENOVA, and airplaneman2014, that may have something.
  13. Nice build. You don't see these built stock too often. Refreshing.
  14. No, I didn't see this on the road, but there's no oh heaven's to Betsy! category. 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Custom
  15. Whoa dude, functioning brain? Feeling OK bro? I always speak for myself, but thanks for the advise. And not all 3d models are in Cunningham's league. And yes, I am an old guy but not one that fears the future. That's 4 cents now. (BTW, not here to fight, just sharing my thoughts)
  16. Not that it matters, but I don't see what the problem is. Maybe I'm naive, but I would think that any model entered into a contest would be judged on the quality of the build, not the materials used to make it. Fact is everyone that builds 3d models is not at the same level as Bill Cunningham, just as everyone that builds styrene kits is not at the same level as a Steve Guthmiller or a Ron Hamilton. So the thought that any fully 3d printed model, or a model containing 3d parts, will automatically be superior to an all styrene build is unfounded. There is even a difference in the quality of 3d files being created. Some are much better than others, and a poorly made file will give you a bad print, if it prints at all. Just sounds like more of us old guys clinging to the past and fearing the future.
  17. Same here. It doesn't come up on Google. What's website address?
