  1. I've decided to join the fun. Doing a 1956 Ford F100 Post Apoc Raider vehicle. Didn't have a plan when I started but its coming together. I've since made the wheels look worn. Trying to finish up now but I have to make the steering wheel fit now that it has a 427 SOHC engine in it there isn't room for the steering shaft. Oh well, part of the fun. worn
  2. Truly radical. Thanks for sharing your work.
  3. I was researching the same thing and found this. It's pretty technical but it gives you an idea of the size/type of blower you need. I guess I need to get on the stick and build mine as well with cooler weather approaching. Good luck.Rob, and thanks for your service.
  4. Great advice these guys seem very experienced with resin, but I think its a bit more complicated. When I came back into the hobby last year I built a couple of cars and then had to have the XLR. I still have it and am taking my time with it, but there is more fabricating req'd than a newbie should take on. Brian, I agree that you should follow the advice to put a couple of pro stock kits together, but also maybe a couple of customs in styrene. The knowledge I gained from building those has given me the confidence to go back to work on my XLR Outlaw. Just advice from a fellow newbie.
  5. Some people make money on the shipping, so be wary!!
  6. Nicely done, I like the color combo as well. I've got the Revell 458 kit for a future build. Thanks for the inspiration.
  7. Nice start. the rear tires look large compared to the front wheels but not for a dune buggy. To me anyway. If you're mudding or running in a desert race I don't think they'd be too large. Have fun!
  8. Thanks guys.
  9. Nice attention to detail. I'm going back to basics to work on that very quality. Great paint combo as well.
  10. Thanks guys, but I can't take credit for the concept. This was my inspiration. I think it was a concept car for the new version of the T-bird. i originally had a hood scoop that resembled this one.
  11. Very nice!!
  12. This build took a long time because I wasn't as skilled as I thought I was. But I learned along the way thanks to many of you. My original hood scoop didn't survive the paint removing so I went with a more modern intake. I hope you like it. It was a fun build but I'll stay away from customs for a while.
  13. I've been working with one of these so I'll pass on a couple of things you might want to consider. Try to get the whole engine. Don't try to put the SOHC heads on a regular 427, they just don't play well together. Calnega Castings has a kit. Realize that this engine is WIDE!!. It won't work in all applications without surgery. I wanted to fit it with twin turbos for a 1956 Ford truck but there was no room on the side. Have to go with just the dual quads. I do love the engine though, and I'm a Chevy guy. Have fun.
  14. Here is a comparison from another thread. I hope this shows. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83896#entry1088941
  15. Nice work. I've got the 458 so I'm taking notes.
  16. There has been some reference to Gibson engines being slightly larger than scale, thus a turbo of the next size is required to make it look scale. Anyone experience that?
  17. Another reason they call us Slowhio!! Nice build.
  18. Wow, great start.
  19. I've always loved big block Cougars. I've seen that engine issue before with AMT. Have fun!
  20. Glad to see that the problem was solved, but I have a question. One resin seller indicates that you shouldn't use plastic paints on resin, but an automotive type. I've got two bodies that I'm working up to build and wonder whether the type of paint matters or not. Any thoughts?
  21. I've been procrastinating on getting containers to have the 72 hour emergency water supply. I think this might get me going as we use the same lake for water!!!
  22. Good engine choice. Well done..
  23. Well done. Some good ideas on that car.
  24. I might be wrong, but there seems to be a theme to your builds. Nice collection.
