  1. Very unique subject. Good lookin' build of it as well.
  2. There's something to be said for the amount of work that it takes to take a kit apart, repair it, upgrade it and make it look like this one does. Some truly good work that I know took some time. Very nice build Rich.
  3. This build all started around 3 months ago for a friend of my son Joseph. He received this kit for a birthday gift and after coming over to the house, asked me to build it. The kit is an old mold and is quite crude in quality but I think I managed to work some of the bugs out of it anyways. I didn't do a whole lot of research on this car and the avid enthusiast will be able to pick up on that pretty quick but still I'm pretty happy with the turn out. I've just about perfected my painting method on autos and I got ALOT of practice with bare metal foil. Thank you to all who followed or commented along the way with this build and a very special thanks to gearhedjohn, gramps46 and wrecker388 for their contributions to the construction of this car. Engine photo and drivers side photos coming soon. The engine bay photo had a dang dog hair in the middle of it and I forgot the drivers side photo shot.
  4. Thank all of you who either took the time to drop in on this build or commented and a very special thanks to gearhedjohn, gramps46 and wrecker388 for their contribution to this car. This build has been moved to the "Under Glass" Section.
  5. Oh ho ho man! Friggin' knockin' this one completely out of the park. Excellent detailing!!!
  6. Whadda cool thread!! I've been wanting to build one of these 427's for a build so I'm tuned in. Thank you for starting this thread Bill.
  7. Looks great Pat! Very unusual but cool build man.
  8. Been missing the progress on this one. You did great with the exhaust corrections and the whole thing looks good so far Andre.
  9. I've been wanting to build one of these trucks (modelwise AND in 1:1 scale) for a long time now. I dunno what it is about these trucks that is a draw for me. Maybe with this particular truck it's the idea of a big block sporty truck painted all black. The 454's of those years were pretty gutless but I have always liked the simplicity of the TBI powered trucks. Being the proud owner of a 94 Silverado with a small block TBI setup I can certainly appreciate the simplicity and reliability of it. Anyways here's the kit: and for nostalgia's sake....an advertisement.
  10. Sheesh! I bought three of these things when they came out and gave one away. I've still got one but have plans for another build as I love these old F series trucks.
  11. Thanks and you should build one of these Jason. Aside from a couple of problems it's a well engineered kit.
  12. Man...............what's not to like here??!! Color, stance, wheels. Wow!!!
  13. Knocked that one out of the park bud. Wow!!
  14. Ok fellas....some more done over the weekend. Still have to work on the hood fit, tail lights and some other small issues but it's all but there.
  15. No matter what you're building I always learn a lot from your builds. Thanks for taking to the time to go step by step with your processes and methods Bill.
  16. Thanks Lorne. Sorry for the delayed response. Dan!!! Thanks ol' buddy. Been a long time since we've talked. Been busier than "all get out man." 'Preciate that Craig!
  17. I agree Bob. There's a few things I don't like about this kit but so far it is going together fairly well. Regardless of my lack of posting in the last couple of weeks, I have been able to hit the bench. With my son in football and in agriculture in school (he's raising a pig) we've all got some really busy nights. We don't plan anything right now outside of the pig and football. I would post more during the week at night but I'd be a babbling idiot due to being so tired. In regards to the bench, I have spent the better part of a friggin' WEEK applying bare metal foil to all the chrome trim that is on this car. I never in a million years EVER realized there was so much dang chrome on these things. Boy did I ever get a rude awakening! I've still got more chrome to install on this car in the way of bumpers, headlights/ bezels, turn signal bezels, tail lights and the like. I had to sand about 3/16" off the bottom of the window/ glass assy because the interior tub wasn't fitting into the interior cavity fully causing a large gap between the top of the door opening and the interior door panels. Crazy. After that I managed to get the body installed onto the rolling chassis and I'm VERY happy with that result. It was exactly the look I was hoping for.
  18. Thanks Carl. I appreciate the comments Dave. I hear what you're sayin' about the interior. I've done some research on these cars and have come up with the same thing.
  19. That is a good lookin' color!!
  20. Always a pleasure to watch your builds come together John. Some awesome work bud.
  21. That is one sharp ride right there mister. Love the idea and the results were just out of this world!
  22. Lookin' forward to the return Lloyd.
