  1. Like Dan I'd love to get my hands ahold of one of these trucks in the 1:1 world. There's a few mods that can be done with the TBI setup. It's nothing like can be done with done with a multi port fuel injection setup with a MAF but it'll yield a lot more power nonetheless. Here's my truck that as of last Christmas got a 383 (that still utilizes TBI injection-but canned the TBI heads in favor of Vortec replacements) with a freshened up 4L60E, 2000 rpm stall converter and 3:90 gears.
  2. SHARP build Tyrone! I only got the one photo 3 times in your post. Do you have any more? Thanks for dropping in bud.
  3. Thanks for the comments A.J. Good lookin' truck buddy.
  4. Thanks Dan! I'm right there with you on these trucks. I worked on these things when they were brand new in the dealership and currently own 94 model extended cab stepside that I threw a warmed over 383 in with the 4L60E and some 3:90 gears. Fun truck. Thanks Andre. I just recently acquired this kit about 3 months ago and have been looking forward to building it. $5?? Wow!! THAT'S a deal right there!
  5. Thanks for the comments Jordan. I'm probably going to switch the tires out but use the stock wheels. I am currently looking for something that will work better. Thanks Kelson Thanks Dave. I'm looking forward to building it as I've got a good reference.
  6. A great big thank you goes out to you all for the comments here. I really appreciate all the good feedback.
  7. Love the weathering! Very convincing.
  8. Man that is one cool ride Joel. I’ve always liked the weathering on this car!!
  9. Thanks Dave and Guido!
  10. 'Preciate the comments fellas!
  11. Good lookin build Ray!! Hate to hear about the issues...........especially with the BMF. That's the second time I've seen that stuff pull up paint. What kind of paint did you use?
  12. Very cool build Chris. I've worked on a ton of those cars way back when.
  13. This will definitely be off the charts. Great idea in motion.
  14. Very unique subject. Good lookin' build of it as well.
  15. There's something to be said for the amount of work that it takes to take a kit apart, repair it, upgrade it and make it look like this one does. Some truly good work that I know took some time. Very nice build Rich.
  16. This build all started around 3 months ago for a friend of my son Joseph. He received this kit for a birthday gift and after coming over to the house, asked me to build it. The kit is an old mold and is quite crude in quality but I think I managed to work some of the bugs out of it anyways. I didn't do a whole lot of research on this car and the avid enthusiast will be able to pick up on that pretty quick but still I'm pretty happy with the turn out. I've just about perfected my painting method on autos and I got ALOT of practice with bare metal foil. Thank you to all who followed or commented along the way with this build and a very special thanks to gearhedjohn, gramps46 and wrecker388 for their contributions to the construction of this car. Engine photo and drivers side photos coming soon. The engine bay photo had a dang dog hair in the middle of it and I forgot the drivers side photo shot.
  17. Thank all of you who either took the time to drop in on this build or commented and a very special thanks to gearhedjohn, gramps46 and wrecker388 for their contribution to this car. This build has been moved to the "Under Glass" Section.
  18. Oh ho ho man! Friggin' knockin' this one completely out of the park. Excellent detailing!!!
  19. Whadda cool thread!! I've been wanting to build one of these 427's for a build so I'm tuned in. Thank you for starting this thread Bill.
  20. Looks great Pat! Very unusual but cool build man.
  21. Been missing the progress on this one. You did great with the exhaust corrections and the whole thing looks good so far Andre.
  22. I've been wanting to build one of these trucks (modelwise AND in 1:1 scale) for a long time now. I dunno what it is about these trucks that is a draw for me. Maybe with this particular truck it's the idea of a big block sporty truck painted all black. The 454's of those years were pretty gutless but I have always liked the simplicity of the TBI powered trucks. Being the proud owner of a 94 Silverado with a small block TBI setup I can certainly appreciate the simplicity and reliability of it. Anyways here's the kit: and for nostalgia's sake....an advertisement.
  23. Sheesh! I bought three of these things when they came out and gave one away. I've still got one but have plans for another build as I love these old F series trucks.
  24. Thanks and you should build one of these Jason. Aside from a couple of problems it's a well engineered kit.
