  1. I finally opened up the Aires engine set because I'm at that point to where I want to work on the engine mounting for the starboard engine as that's the one I'll be displaying opened up. I was just getting over all the goodies in the kit (these engines look fabulous BTW) when I turned my attention to the instructions of how these beauties mount up to the wing. At first I wanted to put everything back in the box and move on. You guys know about where I'm at with the build right now so you can imagine how I felt when I saw this in the instructions: Yeah. That's what I said too. I did, however , think about it over a cup of coffee and came up with this plan: I took this: and cut the locating pins off of the base and sanded the back side down until I was left with the center strip and the offset mounting hole, made all the cuts and holes in the wing like I was supposed to and inserted everything into the openings and holes in the wing from the outside. The results? Something I think I can live with: Ok.....made it past that hump! Movin' right along now.................................
  2. Dude, that engine looks sweet even when there wasn't any paint on it yet. Rock tha house JC!! This one is going to be a good build for sure.
  3. Very cool looking Cessna! Really good looking build.
  4. Before a couple of years ago I wasn't a big Shooting Star fan. Then.....I saw one fly at an air show and fell in love with it. I've since wanted to build one but haven't gotten around to it yet. Yours here is looking good Scott.
  5. Back on this one again after 2+ years. Let's see....where did we leave off. lol Oh yeah..... bodywork. I broke out the pin vise to restore all of the rivet detail that got sanded away at the front part of the fuselage. I've still got the section behind and on the sides of the fuselage at the wing root to go and that's not to mention re-applying the panel lines that are gone as well. Here's 45 minutes worth of sanding and re-riveting.
  6. Good lookin' build. I like the rag stuck in the fuel filler hole. Seen that a million times back home. lololol
  7. Thanks Dave. I appreciate the good comments.
  8. Neat and clean build Jarkko.
  9. Great thread to revive. I remember this kit back when it first hit the shelves. I think it came out after the Street Demons release and it is definitely a challenging kit to work with. Hats off to you for great finish Jacob.
  10. Good lookin' paint job there Larry.
  11. Thanks you guys. This one has pretty much moved up to my favorite auto build yet. It just seemed to fall together in a way that none other build has.
  12. Thanks Sergey. The instrument panel gauges were touched up with a white pencil. I wanted to go with decals but couldn't find any that would work with it so I went back to skills that I use for aircraft modeling.
  13. Thanks Bill. A couple of areas that I did address with this kit was 1.) the elimination of the molded in accelerator and brake foot pedals and 2.) Cutting the one piece glass into two separate pieces and adding sun visors, and adding a shift lever, turn signal and tilt lever and ignition switch and keys to the steering column. The addition of PE pedals that were swung from under the dash was a really big help to the interior IMO.
  14. Thank you Jeremy. Folks this one has now been moved to the "Under Glass" Section
  15. These trucks have always been an interest of mine as they were a sleek looking truck with an out with an "in your face" and bold appearance. Although not fast by any means with 230 horsepower, they were aggressive looking, were among the fastest O.E.M. trucks out there at the time and they set the stage for the muscle trucks that followed in the years to come. It took me around 5 months to complete this one with most of the challenges being paint and the ending assembly of installing the body onto the frame. With a few pitfalls to work around it was a good kit to work with overall.
  16. NICE! Thanks for the heads up Greg.
  17. I do like the idea as well as the outcome of this build of yours Bill.
  18. Where are we at with this one John? This beauty looks like it's pretty much all but finished in the last few updates but I don't see an "Under Glass" thread on it.
  19. Nice thread and very nice builds. I've already bought myself another one of these kits after building one and they really do build up nice. Mine in a "Demon II" theme paying tribute to the original Revell Street Demons theme of the 80's.
  20. That is COOL!!! Say......does that kit have a cowl hood?
