  1. That's lookin' good there Tom. Where do you get the "flocking" from?
  2. I've got a trick or two up my sleeve Dan! Thanks buddy!
  3. Thanks Carl! This morning I got up and was thinking to myself, "Now where are those heater hoses gonna go to in the firewall............and how about a blower motor??" This kit is totally void of that kind of detail. As a matter of fact this firewall has NO detail on the firewall. I guess it's the age of the kit. Here's a shot before the mods: Here's a blower motor I robbed from the Revell Challenger kit #85-4213. I measured it so I'd get the hole just the right diameter to push it through from the back side. Here is the firewall with heater hose and blower motor openings drilled out: and the blower motor test fitted from the back side. I still have to thin the firewall out to push it through to expose the blower motor housing accurately and to true it up in the hole. Now this firewall isn't going to be as accurate as the real thing but I plan on it being a hekuva lot better than it was thats for sure!
  4. Now THAT'S funny! I didn't even notice that! lol
  5. Looking good so far Ira! Give it to us man! Happy New Year to all you guys!
  6. Will be checking in tomorrow Tom! Happy New Year man!
  7. Thumbs up all the way on this one Tim!
  8. For the wheel moldings Pat you could use some stretched sprue(I dedicated a couple of hours to perfecting this technique-it comes in handy with WWII aerial aircraft antennas). Then you still have the round look you're after and you can make it any size you want. That shifter handle is awesome! Can't help you much on the decal issue.
  9. Count me in on watching this one. Man I hear you on the camera blues dude! I had a Nikon CoolPix S550 camera for a couple of years and while it was better than my phone, there was only so much I could do with it. I recently smacked down a few bones and bought a Nikon CoolPix S9700 a couple of months ago and while its not at the "top of the food chain" , it's still a "Bad A" camera. It was one of the best improvements I've made to my modeling experience.
  10. Tom: Thanks man! I build over a computer style desk and pull out the keyboard "drawer" when working with stuff like this. Then it only falls a few inches and not on the floor. It's saved my bacon several times. My optivisor is my friend when working with this stuff. Tim: That's something similar to what I have.
  11. The last time I was in Michaels and scored huge was two years ago when I got a tip over at FSM that Michaels had Badger 200 airbrushes on sale for $20.00!!! I scored a couple of entry level Badger 350's for the same price and gave 'em away to friends. I bought and currently use both Badger 200 airbrushes hooked up on quick disconnect fittings. If I'm in the middle of a "do or die" painting sessions I can simply switch out real quick and not miss a beat. What made the whole experience funny was that the store manager thought I was full of it when I told her that I wanted two of the 200's for 20 bucks a piece. Her jaw fell open when she rang it up! It was priceless.....lol Ever since that I really haven't had much use for them.
  12. Well..........at least I'm not the only one. lol
  13. Lookin' forward to more Tom! Good goin' so far dude!
  14. I appreciate it Dan! Man I'll tell you, ever since I got this new camera I've been able to take shots like this. Makes it really nice as far as photography goes.
  15. Great plan out here Dan! Looking forward to the progress!
  16. That deal with the fine sandpaper sounds like a "little black book" notation there JC. Thanks for the idea!
  17. Those are some nice builds there Bernard! I don't know how everybody does it. I get about 1-3 builds done a year! lol
  18. Thanks Lee and Wayne! Will be hitting the bench again in another hour or so. Update at 5:05 a.m. Back from the bench after an hour or so. Got the heater hoses formed up somewhat and made the hose clamps: Also spread the wire loom openings out a little so my ignition wires would lay in the loom nicely. These I painted with a Sharpie and will dull them up a little with a dry brushing of ground up black pastel to give them a the matte / plastic look.
  19. These are the steering wheel inserts (Horn bars) from the PE detail set. Any idea how to paint those silver with black "holes". Hey Pat. For me this is where the black wash comes in. There may be some other ideas floating around out there but the wash is the idea I would use. I'd be too jittery about drilling that stuff out. This build is looking good so far BTW.
  20. No words......a little light headed though....
  21. 3 more engines........and I'm having a time with 1. lol
  22. Man patience sucks sometimes don't it? Good remedy!
  23. Thanks Tom! Not yet on the oil cap. I'm working on installing an operational starter motor! lol Thanks Dan and me too!
  24. And I thought I was the only one who did that trick!!! Not often but I have used it.
  25. Still lookin' sharp Boban!
