  1. Thanks alot Dave! I thought the same thing as far as wanting one in 1/25 or 1/24 but this is such a great kit that I had to have it regardless of scale. Incredible kit this is.
  2. WAYNE!!! Great to see you!! Thanks for the comments buddy!!
  3. I like that idea Mike. I may be looking into that just for something different. Thanks for the comments bud.
  4. Ok......I'm finally back in action on this one. After months and months of thought and fizzled out ideas I've finally got it. Sorry it took so long to get back to you Roger. I was just flabbergasted at the whole thing when it came to this part. First off...I had an idea for the fenderwells that have been giving me so much grief and pause on this build. We'll be moving forward using soda can aluminum for those. I have to move the shock tower just a shade to the rear of the engine bay to make this work so here's the plan moving forward. First off, I didn't have a Diet Coke can but I did have a Sprite offering. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Presto!!! I've still gotta play around with cutting and trimming here and there to get it all to fit just right but you get the idea. Now I can cut the shock tower from the plastic piece and adhere it to the aluminum part in the correct place and I also get rid of that windshield washer bag that shouldn't be there. BONUS!!!
  5. Thank you all who either looked in on or commented on this build along the way. This puppy is now in the "Under Glass" Section.
  6. Thanks Francis!! I appreciate you stoppin' in and commenting pal. Now.....back to the Maverick I go!
  7. Masterfully done! Great lookin' aircraft Phillip.
  8. Late last year I saw a build review of this kit in Fine Scale Modeler. I've always been a fan of the older Beetles and have also wanted to build a model of one from WWII so needless to say I just had to have this kit. Soooo....my wife got it for me for Christmas. I've been waiting for a slot in which to build it so I finally got one here a month or so ago and I had a lot of fun building it. The only real problem that it has is in the windshield fit. There's alot of sanding that needs to happen with the glass itself if you want it to fit perfectly in the opening. I managed to get it to work for me but it wasn't without its struggles. I will say this however, you will not find a better Type 82 out there on the market that has this kind of detail along with ease of build. IMO this is the absolute best kit out there for this car. I simply could not build this car and NOT put any aftermarket items or scratchbuilding into it so I started by adding spark plug wires and fuel lines to the engine, threw a German newspaper in the front seat from Fields of Glory and miscellaneous items like a helmet, map as well as the map bag, binoculars and a bread pouch in the back of the passenger compartment along with a set of glasses laid on top of the newspaper in the front seat from the Mini Art German Equipment kit. I also added a first aid kit on the passenger compartment wall next to the rear seat. The exhaust tail pipe outlet was drilled out as well. I was originally going to go with Tamiya German Grey as the body color but decided it was just too dark for my liking so I went with, of all things, some Stynlrez grey primer for the body color. After a good coating of Stynlrez I weathered it with an airbrushed coating of Mig Dark Wash which seemed to darken it juuuuuust the right amount. Decals are OOB and after those were applied a very light coat of Model Master Acrylic Flat Clear was applied to the whole body. Any how....here's the completed build: Bottom View: Other Detail Shots:
  9. Man that's alot of chrome on that bike! Looks really good Gerald!!
  10. Nice work bud. This turned out very well.
  11. I don't think I've ever seen one of these kits before. Very cleanly built.
  12. Got alot of stuff done to this one in the last week that finally all came together enough for an update. Windows are installed along with a lot of knick knacks on the body like tail lights , headlights, rearview mirror and little stuff like that. I was finally able to install the chassis into the body and mount up some tire/ wheel assemblies for it as well so she's on wheels now. The only real shortcoming I've found with this kit is in the windshield fit. Man......after all the good fortune I've had with it I found the Achilles heel in this model. The windshield.....good Lord the windshield. Make dang sure you test fit the heck out of it because you're going to have to sand the living daylights out of it to get it to fit right. I beat mine into shape but it was sure tough. On wheels....
  13. ALOT of small work is all adding up into a splendid finish at some point Simon. Good progress man.
  14. That's a good lookin' build Geoff. Very well painted.
  15. Say.....that's a nice bike!!!
  16. I hear what you're saying alright but there's a sucker out there somewhere with loads of cash that'll see it. I'm tellin' ya. It's gonna get sold.
  17. and I'll second that motion on the second one. And the great work continues.....
  18. Really??!! Man there is just no end to the detail on this bad boy!! Incredible stuff Codi!!
  19. LMAO!!!! I sooooo know that feeling!!! Keep at it Roger. This is gonna look sweet when it's done with all the work you're putting into it pal.
  20. I may have an extra one Roger. Lemme check. I'll see about piecing mine together a little bit more this weekend to give you a better idea of what I'm doing. This one here is looking great so far man. We've both just gotta work past some of the trials of this kit is all.
  21. It's really good to see another Maverick project in the mix. I like how you tackled the interior flooring versus rear of the interior alot better than my take on it. Wished I could re-do mine but there aint no way in HELL I'm going through that mess again. The way I'm going to deal with my inner fender is to use the OOB Jo-Han firewall and radiator core supports. I'll be adding detail to the Jo-Han firewall and tweaking the radiator core support some. This is the exact point that I got stumped at so I'll be watching your methods as well.
  22. Thanks Francis. Actually the doors came separately. This really is a cool kit. Lots of details and very minimal fit issues. Thanks Kurt! My advice.....get one!! Awesome kit.
  23. LOL!!! Hold your potatoes buddy!
