  1. Well gang....I made some progress on this thing this weekend. Managed to get the seat drilled and slotted to make way for the seat belt harness. The harness build up wasn't too bad outside of me not paying attention to what I was doing at times and having to go back and make some corrections along the way. This is not the period correct harness I was hoping to build but the correct one is actually harder than the Liberty shifter that I just built for this car. I'm not about to go through anything like that again on this build. lol
  2. Thanks Randy. Man that thing was a friggin' BEAR!!!!
  3. I really miss hot rodding with cars. I've got my truck and all and it's a lot of fun but there aint nuthin' like a good ol car. Warmed over 383 replaced the stock 350, still TBI injected with 454 fuel injectors atop a 4 barrel intake nicely nestled in a modified 680 cfm throttle body, nice cam and Vortec heads, toughened up 4L60E with 2200 rpm stall converter and a set of 3.90 gears with a locker out back. With the custom chip I took it from a stock 3200 rpm to a 5200 rpm redline. Fun truck.
  4. Now I'd definitely be happy with that!!!!
  5. I think I've just found my replacement clear coat. Wow Steve.
  6. For the time being I still use Model Master Semi Gloss Black Lacquer decanted from a spray can and shot through a Badger 350 air brush. This is, of course, after priming the body with Tamiya gray primer from the rattle can. After the black has cured out I decant Model Master "Wet Look" Clear and shoot that through the same airbrush. Let it cure out for around 3 days before you mess with it in regards to wet sanding and polishing and you'll be A-OK.
  7. You sure as hell DID do it justice Mike!!! What is it with these builds that almost put themselves together right up until the end anyways. lol Great job friend.
  8. Thanks Rick. Cropped a picture in the header and couldn't edit it back in. Guess I'll put it here:
  9. That is a really good looking shade of blue on that car Alex. This car looks life like.
  10. This is really quite the project Dan. Really good to see you back here again! Say.....I remember helping you put the windshield back into that red rollback wrecker a few years back in Houston. lol
  11. Thanks Jim. That interior was one of the more fun parts of the build for me. Good to see you Jeremy and thanks. Thanks Nigel. Over the years I've learned to hang with it no matter how tough it gets. I can think of only one kit that I've given up on since I've gotten back into the hobby and that's because I got overzealous with the cutting and hacking.
  12. Good lookin' build.
  13. Good looking build Rick! Glad you're back into the hobby.
  14. Definitely not a car that's seen very often in the modeling world and this one looks great!!!

This is really a swell build Jerry. Great looking car and great looking details.

It's easier than you think. More of these were made than the Mustang/ Cougar line up.
  17. Wow!!! Very well detailed. Outstanding workmanship.
  18. You're doin' great Francis. One o deez dayz …...I'll have some sort of set up like this so I can try my hand at it too. This is just too cool bro.
  19. This build turned out splendid. I'll add.....your photography really brings out the best in this one.
  20. That didn't turn out bad at all Nigel. Looking forward to that second "go" at it.
  21. To expand a little on what I wrote in my last response , I took a small break from this one because it was moving SLOW. I ended up building a Revell 1998 Ram Air Trans Am out of the box with no mods just to get a build across the finish line. That's all done now and in the Model Cars Under Glass Section and I'm now back and focusing my efforts on this car. Hang tight gang.....we'll be starting back up on this one in a day or so.
  22. Thanks Scott! I do miss my 89 sometimes. I mean …..my truck is fun and all now that I got rid of the 350 and replaced it with a warmed over 383, beefed up 4L60E trans with a 2200 rpm stall converter and 3:90 gears out back but it just aint the same as a car. May do some more mods to the truck to get more power out of it. Thanks Dave. I've been off of this now for a good month and a half (built a 1998 Trans Am out of box just to get something built for cryin' out loud...lol) and am looking forward to diving back into this one now. 'Preciate it Mike. This one's been a pretty hefty project for me and am really fired up about getting back to it.
  23. Glad you're back at it Glenn. That photo of that engine looks pretty dang good to me for being taken with a cell phone camera. Ex-alcoholic here. Modeling is VERY therapeutic for me.
  24. You gotta be sh*ttin' me!!!! All the way down to U-Joints?? Un......believable!!!
  25. Thanks a lot Francis. I'm very much looking forward to getting back to the Mav. 'Preciate it Carl. Thanks for droppin' in ol' buddy. Thanks for following along on the build Curtis and thanks for the kudos. Thanks Tom! Thanks for the comments Craig. I really had a blast with this one in the fact that I didn't go overboard with it. I just simply.....built the kit.
