My What If Bugatti LSR Streamliner
djmcguire replied to Big John's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Didn't even notice that was on the bench at first glance and just assumed it was in the background...if that's any indication of what the streamliner is going to end-up looking then I'm going to have to keep following this. -

I just like the 1:1 flathead in the background... -
1/24 Ferrarri 488 Spider build by modeler takuya
djmcguire replied to mvsl1022's topic in WIP: Model Cars
He doesn't build them...they're all pictures of other builder's work but, since he at least gives them credit in the thread name, apparently that's okay. -
Well done and I like the stance on that one...dropped low but without some crazy camber going on.

86 Jeep Cherokee Laredo

I've got a '99 XJ Limited with 200K+ miles on it and the last oil analysis I had done on it showed absolutely nothing out of the ordinary and likely good for another 200K miles on the original motor. They'll run forever if they even moderately taken care of. I've got an 8" Clayton coil conversion, Dynatrac JK axles (Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear), Wilwood JK brakes, 37s on Hutchison beadlocks and all kinds of other goodies going on in the Spring. Just wish it looked as good as the one you've pictured here. -

That looks like an actual working U-joint...some skill on that lathe. -
I was just at a local place that does paint stripping to pick up some parts and they had just gotten in a Shelby GT350 with Shelby VIN plate 113. Had the plate taped over and we joked about how that little plate is worth a whole bunch of money...thought is the car will be worth about $400K when it's restored.

Build looks great and enjoyed watching it come together and like what you chose to do with the color-matched grill too. Excellent end results. -
What did you use for that matte purple...it looks fantastic.

Both look good to me and would have never known that you had fitment issues with the body...

Forgot to mention...build looks fantastic and I especially like the base you've photographed it on and the background (particularly drawn to Bart in the background).- 43 replies

Koenig Competition Ferrari Testarossa (1/24 scale by Fujimi)
djmcguire replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
Gemballa Avalanche kit for the 911 should be killed with fire...it's horrible. The work Koenig did on the 911 always reminds me of the 911 from 'Bachelor Party'...it just needs a flame paint job. I've got a few of the Fujimi Koenig Kits (three 911s, one 928, the Mercedes 500 and I don't know how many Testarossas in 1/24 and 1/16) and the 911 doesn't look too bad if it's done in a color that is as over-the-top as the car itself...I'll have to hunt down the body I have sprayed in Testor's Purple-Licious that's just waiting to be polished. It's purple, it's gaudy and it matches the car perfectly.- 43 replies

I've got some older Fujimi kits and the decals have done the same thing...no matter what you do they end up in a dozen small pieces. I'm trying some 'decal restore' on a set of them to see if that makes any difference. I feel your pain but it looks good...although I will agree that a black or beige interior would have suited it better. Either way it turned out great.

I'd forego the compelling need to detail and try to finish as he would have...seems a fitting tribute. -
JDM Style Acura RSX Type S Tuner - Final Update - 06-04-18
djmcguire replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Quality work is quality work, regardless of the genre or style of car...I happen to appreciate the JDM tuner cars and you've definitely done this one justice. -
Can you let us know how the paint booth works when you get a chance to use it also?

You can find them on eBay...I've ordered a few over the years and some have proven to be better/more accurate than others. -

Looking good, my friend...and don't take it personally as it seems as if the 'Big Boyz' doesn't get as much traffic and subsequently far less feedback. I know I've been checking in now and then on your progress and will continue to do so. -
Try Alan at Whoopie Kat...I had reached out to him a while ago about some custom decals for me.
