  1. I use .005" stuff from Hobby Lobby for scratch made window glass all the time with no problems. My adhesive of choice is Micro Krystal Kleer brushed in place. The brand name is Grafix and is called clear-lay film. My package contains four 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. The co website is grafixarts.com. Made in Cleveland,,Oh.
  2. Bernard,I used the Spaz Stix rattle can last year to paint a scratch built antique travel trailer. I found it in a local hobby shop that carrys it for those who build RD cars and use the paint inside of their Lexan bodys. I used Krylon rattle can gray primer, then their #10209 ultimate black backer. Top coat was# 10009 ultimate chrome. Both cans instructions state that dry time is 10-15 minutes. One mistake I made was to attempt to add more shine by adding clear top coats. I knew instantly that was NOT the thing to do as the surface immediately changed to a dull silver color. Forum posters informed me that the reflective ultimate chrome color is achieved by the surface paint particles drying at an angle that allows those particles to reflect light Thus producing shine. My clear coats were dissolving that reflective surface resulting in a dull top surface. The 3.5 fl oz cans I bought cost $ 5.99 each. Good luck with your project.
  3. Thanks for posting the detailed engine. I bought a 5.9 Cummins resin kit a while back that had no instructions so this will very useful.
  4. Considering the extremely low profile of that hood I would be tempted to mount the engine mid-ship. What you've done so far is very unique and creative work. Thanks for sharing.
  5. All very inspirational! A 21st century board track racer. Everything flows so cleanly from those swoopy headers to the curved radiator. Just SWEEEET!
  6. I have a suggestion for holding that hood in place that I have used a few times when balance was a problem. Consider gluing a small but powerful magnet inside that fuel cell on top of the engine then attach a piece of metal plate on the underside of the hood directly above the magnet. I have used that trick to hold hinged car door shut, etc. Hobby Lobby has a nice selection of"rare earth"magnets that are very compact and easy to hide inside of panels.
  7. Will someone please post a flyer for the 2019 Buckeye classic so I can have some copies of it? Thanks for your help!
  8. Weathered wood is looking very realistic. I was going to suggest possibly add a third I beam in the middle of bridge structure for added support but your second layer of wood adds a lot of strength to the look. Look forward to seeing the completed project.
  9. Outstanding realism and attention to details are evident everywhere I look. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
  10. Ellen, maybe I am looking at this from an odd angle but the tower section your structure seems to be leaning backward at an odd angle. The porch section appears to be warped just below the tower as well. Are these issues you are planning on addressing or am I looking at it incorrectly?
  11. I never said memory was my strong suit Tom but I did check my driver's license this morning then used a calculator to figure out how old I am.I came up with 76 three times out of 5 so I'll stick with that for now.
  12. That would be great it I were in my late 40's. I was 36 years old at the first NNL in 1980 and am 76 now.
  13. Actually I was 39 at the time of the first NNL here in 1980. I am 79 now.
  14. MY lovely wife woke me up with a "Happy Anniversary" greeting. It's our 55th!
  15. What was the starting point for the body?Camaro?
  16. Happy birthday Boyd. Nice to see another builder with a seven as the first digit in their age(i am 76). Where did your screen name of dented fender originate? Body shop career?

  17. Anybody can collect old kits....it takes a real man to cut them up!
  18. Loving that engine!
  19. Thanks for all of the interesting stories behind your user names. Very cool stuff. I am a little surprised that only 16 percent of the builders that logged in decided to share their info.though.
  20. Sometimes the simplest answers are the beat. Those often turn into those moments when we slap our forehead and say"why didn't I think of that".
  21. The key here is of course observation of real asphalt surfaces. Most any place you go a weathered, cracked and pot holed parking lot should be readily accessible. Check out abandoned or seldom used strip malls that have existed for a number of years.Be sure to take some photos for later reference. Cracks in the surface often have the look of lightning bolt patterns. For the actual asphalt itself I have used those thin sheets of paper backed Styrofoam sheet that are available just about everywhere for creating posters and signs. Be sure to peal the paper off of both sides of it to start because if you don''t it WILL warp. I use a small wire bristle brush to create wear and texture to the surface. The cracks can be produced by using a tooth pick. For color I use acrylic flat colors and apply with a bristle brush. Paved surfaces are NOT black,. They are shades of dark gray.I often mix some black with the dark gray to darken the color, but I personally suggest starting with a dark gray as a base.Good luck with your surface project.Be sure to post photos here when it's finished.
  22. Thanks,I look forward to seeing it finished.
  23. What is your end game with this dio ? Vehicle on the top level ? Unless you have a plan that requires that the layers of your raised area be visible when you are done, you might want to work on that area a little more. Over all look is very good so far.
  24. I was very pleased when the kindergarten student I mentor at our local school finally has started to respond positively to me. I had a talk with his teacher who explained that in order to help him overcome his hyper activity and short attention span they have wear a small(2'x2') weighted blanket across his lap to calm him. That worked so well and I feel like maybe I can finally get through to him. Children are such a blessing that those with learning problems really tug at my heart strings.
  25. Great scale realism. You are using materials that look exactly correct in relation to the truck and building. The building itself is looking especially good with great weathering on the boards including some broken pieces and paint that looks like it's been out-of-doors for decades. Thanks for sharing your talent and attention to detail with us.
