Cant wait to see what you do to this one! I have the same kit (I think)

...But I picked up this kit yesterday. I've seen lots of people post about it, and also on the facebook group, and thought I'd give it a go. They seem to be pretty popular and hard to keep in stock. I just happened to get the last one at hobby lobby. I'll also admit I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to large trucks. I have no idea if the bodies are 'glass or steel. Or what good weathering looks like on these things. Who's built one of these already? I'd love to see pics of them. I heard also that people were having issues w/ warped parts and lots of flash.. Mine doesnt seem to be exhibiting these issues. Anyway, I guess this is me saying "HI" over here on this side and dipping my toe into the truck world of modelling lol

I just use the toothpick again if the wheel is already chrome. it rubs the paint right off. Also, I usually will keep old Testors paint caps around and take the cardboard seal out, clean them out and use them to mix up custom colors, or to thin the paint by adding some thinner, so you could also do that to keep the brush marks out of the paint, just thin it down a little so it's not as thick. Wouldnt take much really. Or, sort of dry brush it on and dab it so it gives it a grainy appearance. Then just wipe the rest off. Might have to add a little thinner if it gets too dry.

I paint the center of the rims, and use a toothpick with a bit of paper towel ripped off and wrapped around the tip to wipe off the excess.

Welcome! Love the idea. But I would just build 1 or 2 more "Christine" cars, in various stages of crushing... would be a shame to ruin such a good looking car that youve already done.

This year is the first year the A/C in my truck hasnt worked. It's an '04 so thats pretty good. Part of me wants to try the DIY bottles at the parts stores, but the other half of me wants to make sure that my system is properly oiled, and I dont have any contaminants in it because of the obvious leak. I would prefer a full evac of the system, but, it's expensive... and I cant drop $100 at once on this thing. So long as the heat works... I have 3 windows lol

Thanks, I know a lot of people are saying they have warped parts, but I looked everything over real good last night and I cant see any warping and flash is minimal as well.

Picked this up from hobby lobby. last one they had left, and I used my 40% off coupon! Under $25 is a win in my book. I'm not a builder of big trucks, but this seemed essential for my hot rods!

I must see this "Running on Empty" movie... I've seen Midnight Spares, and The Chain Reaction.... I'm a big Mad Max fan so I'm always up for a good Aussie car flick!!!

Frogtape is your friend! I'm bad at missing spots too... but if you get it pretty close frogtape gives you room for errors!

I'm convinced it's real wood. That looks fantastic!!!!!! This oughta be a sticky or something! Would work great for truck bed floors!

I've just been doing too much other stuff... working on 2 of my 1:1 project cars is what is keeping me from doing any building.

Perfect representation. Looks as if maybe a high school kid in the late 80's got it and tinkered with it a little.

I'm only 28, but I feel that the advance in technology in cars is what is making worse drivers... because if a car is going to warn you if someone is in your blind spot, or that you're going to rearend the garbage truck in front of you... to me, thats going to give the driver more reason to text and drive.. because they DONT have to pay attention. I think real GOOD drivers are the folks grew up driving 2 ton, manual brake, 4 wheel drum, manual steering, stickshift cars. I love driving stick shift even if my sciatic nerve doesnt. I drove my my dad's '65 Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe... 289 Hi-po, 4 speed, manual steering, manual 4 wheel drum brakes! it's a handful but fun! Redline of about 7,500 RPM.. Quite a bit different than my '93 Mustang GT 5.0, 5spd, with its power steering, 4 wheel power disc brakes, and a redline of about 6,250 RPM lol I'm not a fan of cars that do everything for you. I'll admit I multitask while driving... and I do text and drive (I'll admit, I do, but driving takes precedence over staring at the screen believe me, plus talk to text is AWESOME) But some people... just cannot do two things at once... I agree, the spirited backroad driving is some of the greatest... and I too, would never give that up. But, my hour drive to work... I could use the extra hour of sleep while my car takes itself there. Cars are about driving, to me at least... and I love driving. Like Reverend Horton Heat said, "It's the journey, not the arrival, that's I'm all about!"

Ran across this on Facebook... it's for sale on Ebay... and I want it! But, besides that... wouldnt it be freaking cool to make a replica of this? Does a Sport Coupe or Cabriolet 30-31 Model A body exist in resin? I have a real soft spot for '30-'31 Model A's and I want one worse than I need oxygen... I just wish there were more 30-31 kits out there. 5 windows are my favorite.

I would love to wander around and check out all those sweet old American cars still hiding out down there. I remember reading articles in Hemmings that popped up a lot about photos of really rare cars down there just chilling, and not really rotting that bad either.
