  1. The red interior is done. Now to concentrate on the exhaust system, an engine (429) add decals.
  2. Most I've seen in person were a grabber color. I cannot tell if this is the pale blue or grey. It's a nice build nonetheless. It's a shame MPC did not tool up a nice 429 CJ or SCJ but I suspect the race car had a Boss 429 which was the whole point of putting them in the 69 and 70 Mustangs. The Boss and the 429 CJ and SCJ had such a short life due to the ending of the 60's muscle car wars.
  3. This build has exposed a big flaw in the AMT and MPC kits. The front reflector is too far forward. Not a big deal if the stripes are not put on the build. But, using the decals from Rays or Marks or Cady is going to bring attention to this unfortunate mold error. I've attached some picture to show what I'm pointing out. The MPC is closer to being correct. This is by all mean not a criticism of this very nice build. Also, with respect to those three decal makers, I think the decals are too wide towards the back of the car. The decal on a real Boss or Mach1 tapers to a much narrower width than towards the front. The green car has a reflector "decal" over the molded in area that would normally be painted by the builder. The last picture is of a body I painted yellow and looking back now I see it does not have front or rear reflectors. That solves the problem with the decal alignment issue.
  4. Quick question. Are the guages painted or is it a decal or paper cut out?
  5. Same here. We can bring our finished Trumpeter kits to NNL east in 2025. ?. Of course yours will be super detailed and mine will be mostly box stock. Let's get cracking - we only have five years to go. ?. Also looking forward to the move Ford v. Ferrari next month. As for MENG kit - the pre-colored edition sounds interesting as I've only painted something that big a few times and the results were mediocre but that was many years ago. It's probaby why Iwent through a phase of building a lot of 1/43 kits.
  6. Great job by adding the extras like the ram air setup which was never available in a kit. I've been adding the side mirrors to all the 71-73 bodies I've painted and am slowly finishing one at a time. A Boss or two is of course of my list. I've used Keith Marks and Fred Cady decals and plan to use a SMBC Cleveland engine. The paint on yours looks real nice - I'll have to order some. If you plan to do any more PM me as I have some unique parts for these year Mustangs including a slew of front and rear spoilers.
  7. Is this for real? Interesting they would do another Mark II with the Trumpeter kit being re-released. Hopefully this one is better.
  8. Super nice paint and nice interior detail. Some black wash in the grille and wheels and she will look even better. I like the clean look of not having the upper and lower scoops too.
  9. Very cool combination of two Fords. I might be tougher to use the Cobra body with the A chassis.
  10. Super nice job. For a minute I thought you added a bunch of plumbing and then I looked back at one I built 30 years ago and forgot how detailed the kit really is. Here's my box stock oldie but goodie.
  11. Sweet as always. One has to wonder - how many unbuilt Cobra kits do you have. The supply seems endless.
  12. Will it be one color or multiple ones?
  13. You work reminds us all why didn't anyone make this kit with an engine. You great work so far shows it would not be impossible and they would probably still sell for 50% more than the overpriced Fujumi kit that is engineless.
  14. If the King is happy who can argue with that. ?. We've all seen imperfect resin bodies but until someone else steps up this is the best that is available. See my posts about how bad some diecasts are when it comes to accuracy. The smiles are worth the hours of effort.
  15. Hmmm. Maybe I have an older version but I do not see any on mine. It's sad that this 1/18 diecast is based on the incorrect 1/25 plastic models. I say that because it is obvious they copied the exhaust system from the kit instead of the correct oval mufflers. While I cannot be 100% sure the movie car did not have resonators, I checked the sprint version of this model and it's the same. Even the sprint is missing the turn signals. One thing they got right was the mud flaps which is quite comical. The sprint and the Eleanor are basically the same model except for the wheels, paint job, interior color, hood pins, flaps and grille. The 1/43 Eleanor is surprisingly more accurate except it should not have the honeycomb rear panel. For comparison here''s the Autoart Mach1 with the correct exhaust system but incorrect chrome (Boss 351) bumper. Other than that it's a much more accurate (but more expensive) 72 Mustang Mach1 as compared to the Ertl versions. So, basically the Eleanor was a bastardized 71 or 72 sportsroof (not a mach1) with a 73 grille and non factory color and non factory blackout paint on the hood and rear. It's no wonder these companies fail to make an accuarate replica assuming they even care.
  16. Very nice. I picked up one of these kits in an auction on the cheap but it will be years before it gets to my top ten build list.
  17. Very realistic looking. Nicely done. Here's the General airborne from the NNL #40.
  18. It's interesting Ert;l got the 73 grille with the 72 bumper correct. The movie car was a 71 or 72 with the grill replaced with the 73 style to "update" it for the movie release date. I cannot see if they kept the turn signals under the bumper. The information is sketchy on engine but it is believed to be a 351 Cleveland unlike the 302 in the model. The rear bumperettes are incorrect as is the rear Mach1 decal and F O R D lettering. So, if you have a kit I woul recommend a repaint. The hood paint should not be a lot less difficult than a Mach1 or Boss scheme. For the record Eleanor was not a Mach1, it was a sportsroof with the standard hood. While you are at it (if you repaint it) use as many photos of the real car as you can find. The back of the movie car has a Boss like blackout treatment and lower body painted black also.
  19. I had a 69 Dart GTS with a 440 magnum that was pretty scary. It was quite the sleeper but I never got a ticket although I only had it about a year before I spun a main bearing and sold it as is. I was about 20 and it was a daily driver. The 2ns would be my 2004 Mach1. It was pretty fast stock for a daly driver but compared to a new 5.0 not so much. The scariest was my kit Cobra. It would try to go sideways if you floored it even in third gear. I never got a ticket or accident and had it five years but it was a heck of a lot of fun.
  20. Second that. Hats off to everyone and Mr. Boyd who took a few minutes while I showed him my box stock build of a rare 70 Revell Mustang convertible. With 1,000 great models it was almost too much to take in to appreciate the fantastic range of scratch built to box stock models by so many talented builders. Another first was I got to speak to Ed Sexton and we talked about the 70 (and 69) coupe/convertible kits and he mentioned the molds are long gone but there is a snowballs chance we could a 71 Boss 351 and/or Mach1 at some point to end almost 50 years of putting up with the many flaws of the AMT and MPC versions. That would make my day, month, year and decade if we see an all new tooling of my favorite year Mustang.
  21. Very nice as always. There was also an 85 Mustang GT Twister. Here's a picture of what appears to be a diecast 1/43.

    MY Mach1

Very nice and I do not blame you for doing the Boss hood paint scheme instead of the tapered Mach1 one. Is that the grille and bumper from MIssing Link? It looks nice. As you probably know the Mach1 and Boss had the same grille but the Bosses had the chrome bumper (also made by Missing link). I think you could use this licence plate to complete the build as a Mach1. ?
  23. Great show and a good chance to talk to some people I had no met before. Sad to see this show end but thankful for all other ones that will carry on the tradition. Here's just a sample of the hundreds of great builds and dioramas.
  24. The side windows have to go. For the windshield, either replace with sheet plastic or use expoxy and hold it in with clothes pins. I don't think all my older Pantera kits have glass this bad.
  25. Is that a Palmer? If so it barely counts. ?
