Yes, too bad they got the engine completely wrong for a street car. You did a fantastic job a and this will just stoke the flames that this kit needs to be reissued or remade with a CORRECT 429CJ/SCj engine and with the other details you mention. But, since the subject matter is considered too obscure to spend money new molds when old kits ce be reissued over and over and they will still sell enough to make it worthwhile, sadly we'll likely never see ths one again so if you see a glue bomb buy. The collectors prices on these are just too high. Once again, you did a beautiful job on saving it.

No doubt the budget was pretty big and yes ideally they would have gone to Daytona but that's the challenge of doing a move recreating events at a specific place and time, unlike SciFi where you do just about anything you want except breathe in outer space without oxygen. I liked the movie and yes the "car" use in one of the last scenes wasn't close to accurate but I'm sure they figured 99% of people would not notice or care.

Ford vs. Ferrari Film
vamach1 replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm going with an open mind as they will leave out a lot of things due to time constraints and to make the movie appealing to the general public. I explained to a guy in his 30's today at work how Shelby won Lemans in 59 etc., build the Cobra, etc. and how he and Ford hired the best drivers to compete in the USA and abroad. Looking back it's amazing all he accomplished in a about a decade with of course help from many many less famous people. Anyway, his legacy lives on and only the diehard Ford guys knew about the importance of Miles in many of those wins and how he would give feedback about how the cars could go faster. It's a shame he died testing the J-car (spoiler alert?) but like many in those days he loved racing and was willing to take the risks. -
Ford vs. Ferrari Film

I suppose you can say they are kits but more like Replicas and yes to use the real cars would be too risky. There's no CGI which is awesome. As for a documentary, that would turn an exciting subject matter into a boring movie an no one would spend money to see it. The choice of Damon wasn't everyone's favorite but it's Hollywood and from the rave reviews of the film overall I'm just happy it's not crappy like Driven. On a flight to FL I saw Driving in the rain which was an odd combination of a movie about a race driver and his dog and not based on real life events. The cars were more modern but there weren't any great racing scenes. -
All new tool per the maker. Yes a 67 MKIV would sell like crazy but it's not in the movie.

Welcome. They are lots of people here of various ages and experience levels. You should get at least three things from viewing posts you are interested in. Things you did not know, suggestions you may have to others, and the satisfaction of knowing many of our have been out of the closet for years because there was no room left because of all the models. Build for yourself and enjoy a hobby which many of us have enjoyed since the 50's, 60's 70' and so on.

I've noticed sink marks on the trunk on most of the ones I have bought over the years. Sand down the primer a little to see if you notice it. I cannot see from the pictures. Good luck with the build. It's a pretty basic kit.

Looks like a lot of scratch building went into this. Is the automatic trans shift selector scratch built? It looks very similar to the one in a 69-73 Mustang.

I think that's the only pictures I had of that area of the display. More pictures should show up by others. I have not figure out the link to Facebook thing yet.

Paint and foil look fantastic. The wheels had either black or dark grey in the centers (with of course a Hertz decal in the center cap) on many of the 66's and some came with the ten spoke wheels. Diorama is pretty cool too.

Here are a few pictures from the show on Saturday. I've seen a few photos on Facebook from folks that waited until about 6pm when the awards were finally given out. ?

I've got a few diecast in 1/64 in various brands. Last count was over 2,000 and 95% of them are Mustangs, GT40, Panteras and Cobra. The rest are various Fords, some tv & movie cars and 66-70 T/A race cars. Pretty much impossible to post pictures of them all. Here are about 1/2 of the GT40s.

Nothing but a top secret Air Force and CIA R&D facility to keep nosey people away. While the whole Roswell story is interesting, so was the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. As for ancient civilizations, thee's no reason why they could not have figured out how to fly something for a short duration like a hang glider. If for no other reason all those things on the ground that you can see from the sky were meant for the gods.

Based upon the screenings Ford v. Ferrari should be good and is getting a lot of press and promotion on social media. Of course Hollywood will embellish here and there but real cars (Superformance replicas) were used in the filming - no CGI.

Those are some awesome pictures on the proboards. You rarely get to see that much detail (the body off) and in perfect focus. Thanks JC. My 30 year old build does not look that bad given the lack of reference photos back then. -

Can we see your model stash?

I beginning to think I've got some catching up to do with a few of you. ?. My built to unbuilt ratio is maybe 1 to 5 but it depends on the scale. I've built most of my 1/43 kits but are much further behind in other scales except for 1/16 and larger of which I have about less than ten total. I have not counted lately but I am pretty sure I have less than 300 unbuilt kits. As for diecast, that's a whole other issue where it's over 2,000. Here's a sample. -
We could easily go back to the moon. I'm sure all the astronauts that went would disagree about them not going. China seems interested in a manned mission but the reasons for going in the 70's and now are very different. I hope I'm still alive when they are people crazy enough to sign up for a manned trip to Mars. That seems crazy and there's not many logical reasons why anyone would risk a year long mission but I bet there would lots of people willing and able to go through the training just to be the first and perhaps only ones. As for the Alien thing - they are just way too far away to realistically travel about space like in Star Trek.
