This is one of my older builds that came out better than some of my more recent ones. It is the Mini Exotics body, not the more recent kit.

I am guessing if you build another one you would paint the underside and engine compartment. The outside an color is pretty good. For some reason I painted one maroon which does not stand out like bright yellow does.

The Revell coupe/convertible isn't a bad kit but certainly not worth $100 but I see people pay crazy money for $2 kits so it all depends how bad you want it. I plan to build all my old and harder to finds kits before anything released in the sat 20 years because you just do not see many of the 50 year old kits built.

Good price but this car has been done by other diecast makers. On a positive note they are finally doing a Mad Max Falcon. It only took about 38 years.

Thanks. I have owned the 72 Mach1 since 1981.

Two other comments. The mounting points for the rear spoiler are way off and should be a lot further out. Also the mounts need to be shortened by at least one third. I also added the metal exhaust tips and cut out the transverse muffler.

So here is a slighly modified original kit. I added the shock tower brace, air cleaner and extra decals from Keith Marks. I tired to use deals for the narrow stripe outline on the hood but gave up. Main disappointment with the kit is the engine and compartment. The firewall sits too far back and the radiator is too far forward. i assembled it as is but the next one I will experiment with moving them. The 428 engine is not a 429 and never will be. I actually used the 351 decal on the air cleaner but the 429 ram air decal on th hood so al three are incorrect. I built this to learn all the things that annoy me in order to build a more realistic one next time. I have numerous resin parts that I will add to a more detailed version with a correct 351C or 429CJ. I will also NOT paint the Mach1 molded in letters and sand them off as they are very hard to paint. I am disappointed in the trunk Mach1 decal on the Keith Marks sheet as it is not even close to what it looks like on the real car. Anyway, enjoy it nonetheless. Next up is the MPC kit to do either a Boss or Mach1.

I can tell you did your homework on this build. upstanding job.

I have picked up a few Mustangs but these came along years after I acquired about 20 Frnaklin Mint and Danbury Mint models in an auction for about $20 each. That increased my 1/24 diecast collection considerably overnight to include models that no plastic model companies ever made. When you look at a high quality diecast compared to 50 years old kits it does show that a far more realistic engine compartment can be made just by doing some basic research. If Welly can mass produce nicely painted but moderately detailed models t should not be that hard to make a plastic kit with at least the same quality level.

Nice boxstock build. Like most of the late model kits it sits a little higher than pictures show of the real thing. I am not sure what interior colors were available but I have seen the blue and white combo on 1970 Bosses.

I am stilll wishing for one with an engine.

Hello Gary and it has been many years since we have chatted. PM me. Now for the GT40's. I think you are pretty far ahead of me and always will be. You were making Cobras like JC long before we had thought about attempting them. Please post some of your old builds. They were great and I am sure hold up pretty well even though we have more after market parts and bodies thanks to Brad. Anyway, I've build about ten GT40's and have maybe 20 kits left to do.

This car has been out for three years and we still do not have a non-snap kit. Are the model companies asleep? Rant over. Great job on this.

Yes, I have several of their Mach1 and Boss chrome bumpers and one of the Coupe resin kits.

Yes - the ones with the stock interior can be pricey. I'm accepting these kits for what they are since there are not any realistic alternatives. One of my builds will be a lot more detailed but since I want to build a dozen 71-73's I am keeping most of them simple.

Old AMT kit that will be built mostly box stock. Probably use straight exhaust tips, adding Cleveland valve covers, factory style air clearer, and rear shocks. Need to paint the lower part below the chrome trim black and do the chrome work. Interior is about done except for the shifter. May add more detailing to the awful engine compartment. Hope to be done in a few weeks,

I can perhaps understand a Boss 429 in a drag version of this kit but given that the largest engine you could get in 1973 was a 351C pretty much tells you the model companies were about marketing and fantasy versus making something close to a stock version. These kits (AMT and MPC) never had Magnum 500 wheels, the 73 only aluminum slot wheels, a 351C, a ram air plenum, shock tower braces, an accurate dual or single exhaust, an automatic trans. However, you did get non factory rear window louvers and a incorrect 428 engine from the 69/70 kits.

Thanks. I was not sure as some other places sell them with a solid color background.
