Very cool. Did you drop a 351 Cleveland in it?

The interior isn't any worse than other kits of the same period. I decided to switch things up on this one and add a ramair air cleaner.

Nice to see on in gold as I plan to build one too in that color. The saddle interior was an option in 1968 so no worries there. Like many AMT and MPC kits of that era the engine compartment is pretty bad. The GT500 decals on the real car run along the bottom of the door which necessitates cutiing the into three pieces. However, putting the lower like you did avoids that and looks just as good. Nice job.

You nailed it. Great job.

I sound like your father. I have a 1972 Mach1, a 2014 convertible which replaced a 2004 Mach1. My son has a 2001 GT. I almost forgot, I have a Factory Five Cobra for when I want to go really fast. 71-73 Mach1's are very affordable compared to 65-70 fastbacks.

I'm sure you dad will love it. Nice work.

Very nice. If only Fujumi made them with a complete engine. I would have paid $10 more for the kit if they did. I can only dream they will do a Mark IV someday.

Is the magazine still being published?
vamach1 replied to DanR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Food for thought. Charge $10 a year for access to this site. Charge $6 an issue (minimum four) for the magazine but do not promise a certian number of issues in a given time period. If you get four issues over two years there is nothing to complain about. A one man operation cannot keep pace with the more established magazines. Will some people not want to pay the $10 - of course - but the fee could be waived if you subscribe to the magazine. Am I crazy? -
Is that a Fox body Mustang I see. I had never heard of this brand.

Nice to see some 1/43 kits on here once in a while. I used to build a lot of them. Good job.

You did not want anyone to catch up to how many Cobras you built. Nice job by the way. Sometimes things do turn out well in the end.

There's is a lot you can do with this kit depending on much detail or how much you want to spend. Here are various versions including a 67 transkit and the HRM converible and an old Mini Exotics conv. The engine compartment is the main issue as it is lacking everything except an engine and battery. Adding correct shock towers and braces is an improvement but using the 67 GT350 chassis is much better.

I was very happy with MADs quick service. I wish I could say the same for VCG. Almost six weeks and no parts, just more promises.

Do You Recycle Your Old Builds?
vamach1 replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One of my oldest builds in the corral. I'm guessing I built it in the late 80's but it still looks okay. -
Do You Recycle Your Old Builds?
vamach1 replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here are a couple builtups I will eventually recycle. One is a resin body. It is interesting how AMT made minor changes to the emblems to make each one a little different. -
1968 Shelby Green Hornet-----Update! 8/4/18
vamach1 replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great progress and cannot wait to see it finished. -
To build a 73 Eleanor you will need a stock hood and the turn signals under the front bumper. The movie Mustang was a 71 or 72 which had the 73 grille added on. The rear had a non factory blackout treatment similar to a Boss 351 and the hood also had a non factory black stripes. This Greenlight diecast comes pretty close to being accurate although I think the movie car had a orange tint. The 1/18 diecast is bad - too many inaccuracies to mention.

Help with Revell 1966 gt350 stripes
vamach1 replied to Jaguar man 21's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You might get away with painting the scoop and decals for the rest with a lot of Microsol. I rarely see decals though due to the problem you described, most people just mask the lines and paint them. -
I bet that undercarriage is a whole lot better than the MPC one. Excellent job sir.

Ferrari 333SP by Perry's Resin, wow!
vamach1 replied to aurfalien's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yes, Brad would be all over that. -
What is next - the resin convertible transkit from HRM? It uses the far superior AMT 67 Shelby chassis.
