I saw this at NNL East. Very cool idea.

Do not bother looking for a website ;-)

A very cool setting for a model show. I hope to finish a GT40 Mark II and Mark IV by then just like the ones on display.
-
I see a bunch of links to Fotki on Facebook of the show. Search for Lyle Willits. You can also go to the mamasboyz.org and click on members albums where you will find links to hundreds of pictures.

Looks like you prefer the non GT grille for a different look. Very nice.

The model paint is a little brighter ;-). Very cool to replicate your real ride.

68 Blue Stang ~ Street/Strip
vamach1 replied to Steve "Stangfreak? Mason's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I like the stock hood more but that is one sweet stang. -
It is funny back in those days they could GT away with box art showing what appears to be Shelby clone but inside you get a stock 289 with an auto trans. I sure most kids did not know the difference or care but it saved the companies money to use some of the same parts whether the kit was a coupe, fastback or convertible.

Pleased to have found this site

Welcome to the board. I see you like Mustangs and shame on others for not mentioning the 1/1 drum set. What better way to relax than having two great hobbies to enjoy. -
Awesome job. Maybe you ca do a before and after.

Building a parts arsenal
vamach1 replied to Slotto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I destroyed an expensive Danbury Mint diecast just for parts so anything is fair game. -
Just realized I need to add the F O R D letters on the hood and maybe some more black in the side scoops.

Still no engine yet (maybe 69 Mach1 428) but the exterior is pretty much done. I went back to using the crappy 66 Mustang chassis as the later 67GT350 tire track was too wide.

Partial Kits- do they have any value?
vamach1 replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just bought a brand new complete Monogram Boss 302 for $10. The original price tag was $9.50. I would not pay more than $7 or $8 for an incomplete kit. -
MPC kit. Testors one coat color. Lovely avocado green interior. No engine yet - maybe a real 351 Cleveland from my blue oval engine stash.

If much improved kits (say a real Boss 351 or 71/73 Mach1) was done I would gladly sell most of the incorrect AMT and MPC kits I have collected over the years. Since there is about a 2% chance of that happening I will turn those deficient kits into something resembling the real thing. My definition is nostalgia is holding on to old stuff because something better has not come along.
