  1. Obviously it was not styling. ? I would guess to help aerodynamics since the Daytona Coupes had a much higher top speed this looks like an attempt to pick up a little speed and perhaps keep the driver from getting soaked in a sudden rainstorm on the track. It was entered in the GT class in the 64 Tour De France along with the Daytona Coupes and GTO’s.
  2. Very well done and the photography is excellent also. I had seen some pictures before (maybe on Facebook) but of course the Title for my attention too when it said 73 Mustang. ?
  3. Here is the Nichomo kit I built (Metallic blue) and some built ups I bought at NNL East for spare parts to maybe build a GT350 version. I used the AMT 1/16 65 Coupe tires after the original kit tires melted before I bought the two spare kits. The ten spoke wheels are pretty nice in the kit. As you can see those flat head valve covers are pretty bad - hence the engine swap I did in the one I built about 25 years ago.
  4. I must say this is going to be a huge improvement over building it out of the box. The engine and wheels add a wow factor. When I built the 68 Shelby (1/16 scale) by Nichimo it had a similar unrealistic engine and I used the one from the MPC 427 Cobra. Seeing as how you rarely see this 1/20 kit built yours may prompt others that has this one sitting on the shelf to give it another look. I did order some 1/20 resin Cragar style wheels off Ebay as I had forgotten how goofy those four lug mags In the kit would have looked on it. If yours turns out as good as it looks you we might have to start calling you Cobra&Mustangman.?
  5. You are referring to the Magnifer (Trumpeter) kit and not the MENG kit, correct?
  6. Maybe a tie in to the Netflix show. ? The Copyright date of the Sunny kit was 1985 according to Scalemates.com
  7. I would bet on JC and Gramps over anyone at Revell in their assessment that this is the same kit that decades ago included a wider body and a few other parts and has been reissued sometimes claimed to be a 427 Cobra. Here are the Revell website pictures which show it’s not a 427 chassis or engine. Fool me once shame on you - fool me twice shame on me.
  8. Maybe they think a 351W bored out to a 427 counts. ?
  9. This is looking very cool and will be a nice one off custom.
  10. Thanks for posting pictures of you conversion J C. Here are two more lovely new in the box Sunnyied kits that are the same as the “new” Revell one.
  11. I had one but it’s pretty toylike in my opinion and does not represent as specific drag-car of the era. The chassis seems okay but I could think of some more accurate bodies that would make it look more realistic. I think that is what hurts the value compared to the Johan 71 Mustang funny car kit which is more representative of a car your would have seen at the drag strip in the 1970s.
  12. My one and only AMT kit that I actually completed so I have a lot of catching up to do. I was not happy with how the rear sat up too high. It seemed to fit nicely before I put it together.
  13. It only had the #2 decals. Someone on Ebay sells the other MKII # decals for about $20.
  14. Glad to hear that. We are so lucky to have some many great car modelers with an hour drive of ground zero. ?
  15. If you have good eyes you may try painting the Tr-bar red white and blue lines on the steering wheel hub and glove box. A sharp tooth pick and steady hand help too.
  16. If Shelby were alive he would sure for sure. ?
  17. I will chime in later with some pictures of some of the HRM kits (unbuilt) and whatever else I dig up I forgot I have later today. I am so fortunate to have seen JC and Gary’s collections in person.
  18. The 1:1 car had the wheels in the FoMoCo pictures above. Not sure where those awful four ug wheels came from - probably excess inventory in a Japanese warehouse and someone thought hey throw some cool mag wheels in there those Japanese kids will not know the difference.
  19. I got my last issue of Mustang Monthly in January. No warning or anything - just heard about it on Facebook. Such is life at these big publishers I guess. I guess Cruz has to find another part-time job now. ?
  20. There were four 66 GT350 convertibles made for testing purposes (yellow, blue, red and green). Needless to say they are extremely valuable today (excess of $1M) and were even equipped with A/C. It’s on my list to build one using this kit and the regular convertible kit.
  21. As you probably know the Mach1 show car got an update for the show circuit so this represents the revised one with the more aggressive snout. I have only seen pictures of the cars in a burgundy metallic color and with the same wheels on both variations. Given the odd scale finding “correct” wheels isn’t in the cards but it my knowledge this was the only model kit of this latter version.
  22. It’s not Ebay but the USPS that makes you ship any package over 14 ounces by priority mail. I asked the clerk but sometimes if you use the self service it will not give you that option if the box is over a certain size but not weight. I have underpriced shipping too by mistake but many things I have sold cost me next to nothing so if the buyer is happy it’s one less thing cluttering up my house.
  23. I have the Sunny kit and aside from a few unique parts as others have said it’s not as bad as putting a Cobra badge on a Miata but if nothing else it’s a starting point if you want to mix and match parts with some of the HRM parts. So if it’s over $20 I’d say pass unless you really got to have it for the box art and maybe the decals or wheels.
  24. I guess this should not surprise anyone at this point. At least we have this forum as a means to share our builds to modelers arround the world which in a way is a whole lot better than before the internet when it was not possible in real time. Looking forward to 2021 for now.
