  1. Very nice score and it looks in great shape with the box art just like the paint. Anyone know who the Alexander brothers were and what was customized? I am guessing it was some of the odd looking parts that came in kits of that era that I have seen on the side of the box or in the instructions.
  2. It’s basically a slot car body so the the bumpers are molded in. I had a 2nd body so I modified the Mobogram 70 Mach1 chassis to fit the 69 body.
  3. Do I get bonus points if I finish any of these by Oct 1st? ? Note that three of these are 1/32 scale.
  4. I was thinking you might have been bidding. ?. I am just surprised how much these old kits go for given how simple they are. Thanks for helping someone else pay more ? but it looks much better than the two I sold of which one was a resin copy with a hodgepodge of 66 coupe parts. The box alone you got with yours is probably worth a lot by itself. I did not include an original box I have with that sale (the 65 GT350 version) as to me the box art was cool but if I paid big $$$ for an unbuilt one I would be pretty disappointed as there is very little AMT did even try to make the standard GT into what would pass for an accurate 1965 GT350 with a 289 HiPo and the side exhaust etc. etc.
  5. Nice score Ace on the 250 GTO. I did not know there were three versions. It’s too bad Gunze did the Daytona Coupe without and engine and with the metal chassis. An all plastic kit with an engine would have been nice but it was not in the cards I guess. If I recall the Cobra kit was about $50 retail which probably intimidated the average builder but that seems like a deal now despite the level of difficulty and the photo-etch parts, etc. I broke down and bought the Cobra Kit at the Squadron Shop in Wheaton Maryland in the 1990’s as it was not a kit you would find in the mega toy stores.
  6. Add my Mystic Chome Cobra to the list of models started and not finished due to Modelers Attention Deficit Disorder. I built the burgundy one a long time ago (probably Testors spray) and the convertible is the Testors Color shift paint. You guys know I am a diehard Mustang guy but there’s something about the older Mustangs that just seem to be more interesting with regard to the interiors colors and chassis from a model building perspective. Anyway, I hope to finish something I already painted months or year ago as the backlog is probably twenty at the moment of various year Mustangs. Assuming I go with plain old Ford grey interior for this convertible maybe the end of summer is not a stretch.
  7. 2nd that Ray. I have picked up some older gluebombs here and there but that one Snake Mesner looks to have been painted pretty well assuming it was done many decades ago - maybe a Pactra color. I bought a fastback the Philly NNL but it may actually be a promo someone painted but it had a crack so it will need to be redone. As I was too young and overseas when most of annual kits came out I cannot ever remember seeing one unbuilt for anything less than crazy money (in my opinion). 100% agree with Mesner these built ups are a great to get a rare kit without spending your kids inheritance.
  8. Look forward to your builds.
  9. I have seen some resin cast taillight for various Fords but only at NNL type shows. Welcome to the forum and I think you will enjoy many hours here but it will be worth every minute. Rex aka vamach1
  10. Contact Kevin Lutz kawifreek@msn.com or checkout the Missing Link Facebook page. He also sells on EBay. He should have the bumpers and grilles but the other parts (ram air) were not part of his regular offerings. I loaned him the “masters” so that is where the first ones came from but I cannot say if there are any left. I still have the original parts set aside. Perhaps if there is enough interest Keven or George53 can make some more (NNL East anyone?). With the Round2 AMT 007 Mach1 coming out the ram-air would be a nice under hood accessory as would the special air cleaner assembly (similar to a Boss 429) to make a 351C or 429SCJ Mach1. Of course finding correct version of either of these engines is another story. My batch of about a dozen 71-73 Mustang builds is going slower than I hoped but I did finish a 72 sprint about a month ago that came out pretty good. I have posted that build along with several other 71-73 Mustangs (AMT, MPC, Testors) the last few years.
  11. Great looking 427 which I’m sure will be popular.
  12. Yes these old tires will melt over time. I managed to keep these two intact but for how long is anyone’s guess.
  13. I have actually seen so few Mustang II kits built what are the chances of two red Mach1’s in the same thread. I am sure most of have built “bad” kits but sometimes you have to delve into that dark world to appreciate the good kits. ?
  14. It’s too bad about the interior but it is surprising Entex did a Mustang II but skipped so many other American cars that would be more popular to modelers. It was a great seller car for the 70’s compared to say the “big” Mustangs like the one I could not resist buying as a used car in 1976. Nice job by the way - it’s always cool to have a model of a car you owned.
  15. Some pictures are also on Scalemates of HRM kits and parts.
  16. Individuals have posted many of Brad’s kits and parts on their Fotki pages. Here are are a few examples which came up in a quick search.
  17. Randy C and Bill I would second that about Randy who has many HRM products as well as other great resin stuff from around the world. Perhaps Brad is focusing 90% of his “production” to customers more eager to point and click to place an order in a few seconds. Who can blame him? I think it’s a win-win for everyone and given my other answer it probably explains why there can be a delay or that it may take time to restock the inventory.
  18. The quick answer is no. I do not know many people at his age that have the time to maintain a website to have any hope of keeping up with making parts and kits. Not a knock on people over 75 but it’s a generation that is fine with doing things their way. Frustrating to us young folks (under 65?) but it’s not going to change. However, crank up the Google machine and there are many pictures of his products SOME of which are sold on a website I am sure many of us model builders that wish they had a warehouse know about. Norman of Replicas and Miniature of Maryland (No website either) sells some HRM goodies too. There are many times I though what the heck I should invest in an inventory and sell vie EBay but after the fees and such I probably would not make a 10% profit. Not all bad news but on Facebook (yeah I know) the Replicas and Miniatures Fan page has some photos as does some of the links in the Mamasboyz.org website. So, after checking all that out you will probably be saying I want to spend money and I cannot do it. I wish I had a better answer but at least you may at least understand a little more being in his shoes. Brad has said physically he cannot travel to NNL shows hours away and Norm still goes to some but he has said before he is very busy with his regular mail order customers that he cannot just “stock up” for a show and have his paid orders be delayed. Throw COVID into the equation (shows being cancelled) with more people looking online for stuff. You can try emailing Brad at historicracingminiatures@comcast.net. I hope you find something you like and can buy. I know many of us are looking for the 2020 reset button and let us know if you find it. ?
  19. I know who will buy one. ? Thanks for the tip. Shipping may take a while to the USA and it shows one left.
  20. Look for this Red Line club release to skyrocket in price on the secondary market the day after they are all sold out to RLC members. ? I read a few complaints about the front end and tires (too large) but I would not expect Hotwheels to invest it making the casting more accurate - they tend to focus on the paint and they KNOW collectors will willingly pay $25 or more for.a $1 car with what appears to be a finish most of us can only dream about from an airbrush or spray can in this small scale.
  21. A lot of great comments by all. I am sure what drives some modelers crazy if when people that know little to nothing about the hobby lump everyone in the same group - we are mostly adults playing with toys and they could not tell a mid-range die cast made in usually China (usually with nice shinny paint) compared to a well done and painted model that took the builder many hours to complete just out of the box. I have kits from twenty years ago that I have not built simply because not doing any modifications would seem too easy in a way. I think many of us enjoy taking kits with many things that are incorrect and fixing them that 99% of people would not know were there. The greatest compliment I appreciate (usually on Facebook) is either where did you get that kit or how did you build that. I reply with a list of parts, decal, paint and describe what I had to do to get from what was in the “original” box to something that resembles what the “real” vehicle looks like. What makes so many “at home” hobbies these days is being able to share our “work” and “art” with hundreds if not thousands of model builders that are at various skill levels the techniques and research that was done prior to taking on anything from a straight of the box kit to an entirely built scratch built replica to everything in between. The any many that just will never understand the fascination and online and in person friendships model builders (not just cars, trucks, cycles, of course) cherish and in many cases with people they may never get to meet in person. Happy building everyone.
  22. If a hundred And twenty two of us chip in maybe we could bid on it and own it each for three days a year. ? I guess I will have to settle for the 1/24 and 1/43 ones. ?. At least I got to drive a MkI made by Safir for only a few minutes.
  23. Good point. I do wonder when the Exoto and other 1/12 die cast models starting coming out of various GT40’s if that took away some potential business for the “kit” market given the relative lower cost (made in China) and that many enthusiasts would be happy buying a die cast or resin example with none of the “hassles” or enjoyment of spending many long hours building a kit with hundreds of parts. As for quality no doubt the CMA kit will be far far superior in all ways to the Trumpeter or Meng ones but priced accordingly. Of course they will probably be a limited number given the time and cost but it would be the crown jewel in any GT40 model collection for sure. I hope to finish all the 1/24 resin GT40 kits I have before I tackle the off the shelf ones (Fujumi, etc.) but like many modelers it’s so easy now to buy kits from around the world but carving out time to build them is a whole other story.
  24. Sounds like you, Lee and I have been on the same path for a while stocking up on every Ford GT kit on the market.
  25. Here are the kit parts. 65slotcar found a website site that sells the kit also. Www.racingkars.com
