Give Peace A Chance was not a beatles song...it was a lennon/ono song. Everybodys talking about bagism... you don't think the Beatles would put out something like that do you? jb

>Once they get in the playoffs the team with the best record hosts the game in their house I know near nothing about American football; aside from thinking it is a worthless waste of time and money and results in brain and other permanent injuries for those dumb enough to participate, a "pie in the sky" hope for a future for those youths who forsake education for a hoped for career in its ranks and an unnecessary tribal like division amongst its fans amongst other negative traits. but...I don't think the above statement is true. the SB for next year is scheduled for the SF 49ers new stadium in santa clara California...and correct me if I am wrong but the season has not even started yet. how could the team with the best record be hosting that game "in their house" when the best record has yet to be established? jb

>Pigpen wasn't much of a Hippy either ya know that just goes to show: there really wasn't any "hippie" in those days, those guys had their own styles for the most part and it was all influenced by the cool jazz scene around SF and specifically north beach, the beatnik area. I kind of trace it all back to songs like vince guaraldi "cast your fate to the wind" which what a lot of those people were in fact doing in those days. I think that specific tune had a huge influence on the scene and on the early Grateful Dead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADPgTmca6Zs this track too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJkxFhFRFDA I remember days out by the swimming pool hearing that one and of course, love these old TV clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQLMFNC2Awo jb

from wiki... Shooting-brake is a car body style that has evolved through several distinct meanings over its history. Shooting-brake originated as an early 19th century British term[1] for a vehicle used to carry shooting parties[2] with their equipment and game. The term brake[3] was initially a chassis used to break in horses — and was subsequently used to describe a motorized vehicle. The term was later applied to custom-built wagons by high-end coachbuilders and subsequently became synonymous with station wagon or estate.[4][5][6][7][8] In contemporary usage, the term shooting-brake has broadened to include a range of vehicles from five-door station wagons — to three-door models combining features of a wagon and a coupé. jb jb

No. Can't be done. Because somebody said so, that's why. If you were "inside", you would understand. jb

I was never much of a fan of the Grateful Dead at least not since the mid seventies, but last night trolling youtube while the glue dries, I came upon a couple of examples why I loved them so, at the height of their creative powers. I am a sucker for drums and bass...check out bill kruetzmann here just POUNDING the drums and looking really pissed off. Billy never was much of a hippie, more like a euro greaser in looks, and when mickey hart was on second drums it was a real powerhouse riddim section. video is all out of sync for awhile but comes back. still can't carry a note to save their lives but the instrumentation makes up for it in my mind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq8sp6WF3bQ and pigpens masterpiece hard to handle, again some great drum and bass interplay and some nice camerawork featuring the riddim section...let it run for a while, it gets gooder the rounder they get. Bill looks to be trippin' balls! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1E_HZLjCYo good job Ed, not too hard though for those who followed soul music in the sixties jb

Toyoda's (Toyota) first ever passenger vehicle coming from Tamiya
jbwelda replied to DanR's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I wonder if this is going to have full engine detail and a stand alone engine? I just ordered one from HLJ, man can't beat that price compared to what its going to retail in the states for, but I wonder what the level of detail is going to be, besides Tamiya's usual excellence. jb -
I don't think I agree with that bit on the Beatnik Bandit, I think that one ran but had a single or dual barrel carb hidden inside the blower shell and a hole drilled in the shell to stick a screw driver through to adjust the carb. I think it was the mysterion that didn't run...because the weight of the two engines was too much for the frame so he/they gutted the two engines of all parts, crank, rods, pistons etc to save weight. still too heavy though and that led to severe structural problems. maybe I am wrong though, not sure how this related to the thread either jb

well, I think if any new tool "grampa" car was going to be a hit, it would be the Tucker. everyone has heard of the Tucker, there was a movie made of it, a pretty successful movie. it was an innovative and ahead of its time concept in almost every way. but instead I guess we have to be content with "one off versions" that that Tom Daniels stuff. or maybe a new Pacer for some real excitement. jb

very interesting. please consider me when the time comes! I also have a couple of other uses for patterns like that! jb

Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?

I have an unbuilt one, vintage unknown, but the tyres are packaged in a separate sealed bag from the factory. jb

it only seems eccentric to americans who use AMC products as their "mass market" touchstone. I am also kind of bugged that mention of a 2CV pickup has been relegated to the "truck" section. isn't this "car kit news and reviews"? oh I guess a pickup isn't a "car". jb

I saw this at a car show. Seriously.
jbwelda replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
looks more genuine than your typical billet encrusted "hot rod" you see so much of today also notice it seems to draw a crowd. jb -
I'm sorry but I haven't been following along, are there extra parts in this kit, like hot rod accessories or even factory hop up stuff? or maybe a competition version on the drawing board? It really looks great as it is and that is a very nice buildup above, really shows what can be done with it and nothing else. jb
