  1. I have that BRE 240z original and I just looked at it; its not far from stock, has inner door panels for instance and a fairly stock looking engine. no stock wheels of course and the body may have some minor racing mods but I didn't see any in a quick glance. the interior might be a bit minimalist but the dashboard looks credibly stock. roll bar/cage and stuff but that can be left out. I see bumpers and other things on the chrome tree. that list above with the "reissue" column sure makes all this seem a lot less impressive. even that boxster is a reissue...guess I never saw the original but here I thought might be a contender with the Tamiya...I would guess not then. jb
  2. I think that actual physical material is largely outdated. the future is on the screen and in the mind. 30 years max and we will have full holography available in every home, with entertainment that is made up on the spot, and different everytime it is viewed. we will have "models" that exist in that environment only, or at least otherwise would be a true niche collectors market (like music on vinyl right now). 3D printing is only a stopgap; the real revolution will come when we free ourselves from physical material and transfer to a more virtual reality, where increasingly scarce resources aren't further drained to produce consumer goods for the rapidly expanding population in an increasingly bleak, post post-industrial world. jb
  3. I guess I didn't put it in the proper sarcasm font. but to put it into perspective, its fiat finally getting its comeuppance on the little upstart. jb
  4. ooh that wagon is mega kool, gotta have one of those. was this even announced as being in the works? seems like its straight out of left field, aside from revell releasing the 57 ford sedan. I never even knew Ford produced a competitor to the Nomad. I would put down for a Ranchero too. and I missed it before but now they are reissuing the BRE 510 companion 240Z. great move. actually some other potential buys there too, for instance that Boxster. I am guessing the German branch will be releasing that one? and a 59 Caddy hardtop? is that a reissue or brand new? jb
  5. >the lifetime extended warranty whose lifetime would that cover...yours or Chryslers? jb
  6. is that del rio wagon going to be a new tool? what the heck is a del rio wagon anyhow? some goofy quasi "western" motif trim package? jb
  7. I hear they also unloaded that loser Italian brand, Ferrari. jb
  8. on a similar note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6WDwsdH_A0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJNaaMJsCHM all worth a peek jb
  9. you gotta see this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL3D5uTHkf4 jb
  10. is being someones "good friend" the same as being their friend? I ask because seems to me that phrase "good friend" gets used an awful lot around here (& in the mag) jb
  11. I think I fail to see your point, but if it is the obvious one I encourage you to read the billion other threads on a similar theme and perhaps contribute your insights there. jb
  12. I found this even more interesting: from the website: Snail Mail Sale! Anyone who MAILS in an order (with a check or money order made out to Jameston Kroon) will receive 25% off the order! Just fill out the Printable Order Form and send in the check minus the 25% of order total. jb
  13. what I don't get is that I thought Johan molds were of some way different than every other molding system and therefore required a whole specialized (and completely outdated, the equivalent of the VHS) set of doodads to use. does this mean Moebius has that system? or maybe were able to make some sort of adaptation? or could it be that these particular molds were of a more modern design and therefore compatible with more modern systems? glad to see em back, especially that turbine car. I think I'm going to put a hemi in it. jb
  14. that's kind of neat but I am more impressed that you had "Revell" (a representative I take it, perhaps an executive?) come to your model club meeting! must have some nice connections to have them bring preview pieces. are they expecting feedback there or is it more of a show and tell kind of atmosphere? obviously they are already committed on the tools to have test shots like that. very kool to have a factory rep come visit! jb
  15. I've been outbid. again whats so special about this kit? is it some rare promo or something? because frankly I don't see how a 1911 cheby, and likely incomplete at that, is going to raise much interest. I must not know something. jb
  16. yeah I think you should reattach the wheel. looks great otherwise. is it painted or is it just the white plastic? kool find. jb
  17. Borgward Isabella! oh yeah! i just saw one on the street the other day in very, well, restorable condition. now there was a car who's design was years ahead of its time. jb
  18. whatever this is, spotted in London: perhaps not "iconic" though...I think it was a Nissan. jb
  19. and I must say I don't understand a Ford Cortina not being available in 1/24. long long overdue. bonus for Lotus Cortina. jb
  20. any of those but especially the Saab, Citroen, Renault Dauphine or Volvo 120 (or P1800 preferably). and the Lotus Elise/Exige. and then I woke up jb
  21. I just bumped it up to 12.50, just for the heck of it. is there something special about this heap of...treasure? jb
  22. its really hard to beat Tamiya when it comes to type 1s. this will be a nice build and its more interesting due to the new body from rmm. jb
  23. built up 66 Polara station wagon, current bid 850$! at least two people are HOT on this and its got nearly 3 days to go! http://www.ebay.com/itm/151456961238?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT jb
  24. I would like to see that tire with some primer on it so it would be easier to judge the surface. thanks for posting that! jb
